Kamal Haasan’s Odd Appearance in Indian 2

Ever since Indian 2 was announced, there were many questions raised about the older Kamal Haasan’s role and how he will be portrayed in the film. Indian (Bharateeyudu) is one the best films in Indian cinema. Kamal Haasan’s terrific screen presence and Shankar’s direction added with the anti-corruption message made the film an all-time blockbuster.

Now, the team is coming up with the sequel this June but somehow Kamal Haasan’s older version look is not convincing and looks odd in the film. And these concerns are continually increasing after each promotional content gets out.

Even in 2 Point 0, Shankar failed to present and match Rajini’s Robo look as he managed in the first part. Rajinikanth look in 2.0 was heavily criticized post-release. Fans fear that the same will be repeated with Indian 2 as Kamal Haasan looks quite odd in the old man look.

In Indian movie, in 1990 period, Senapathy’s action episodes were welcomed by everyone because, at that time, his age was 65 – 70,  and most of the film was run through the young Kamal Haasan’s role along with Senapathy’s freedom fight portions.  Shankar is taking a big risk with the slogan ‘Come Back Indian’ in 2020s as logically the age of Kamal Haasan would be 100 years as per the first film’s plot.

Ram Charan officially announces Game Changer’s release date

Maverick Director Shankar and Ram Charan’s upcoming film, Game Changer is a much-awaited film for the fans and audiences. The film’s shooting has been happening for several days at a brisk pace. The team shot important portions at Vizag’s RK Beach recently. The lyrical song of the film, Jaragandi released recently as well. Now, the lead actor, Ram Charan has officially announced the Game Changer’s release date.

Ram Charan attended the ceremony of his Doctorate conferment at Vels University, Chennai. The University conferred a Doctorate upon Ram Charan for his services in films. He along with his wife and baby attended the event where he spoke about his upcoming film, Game Changer. He said the film was a political thriller and may release at the end of September or October this year. Charan also said the film would be released in 5 languages on a Pan India level.

Producer of the film, Dil Raju too assured the audience that the film would release this year at the same period. Director Shankar is also busy shooting his other film, Indian 2 which delayed the release of Game Changer. So fans should wait for another 5 or 6 months for Game Changer to release in the theatres.

Maidaan Day 2 Total Box office collections

Maidaan starring Ajay Devgan and Priyamani opened to a disastrous opening. The makers and team decided to draw the audiences to the theatres somehow. They then came up with a Buy one Get one free ticket offer for Maidaan to attract the audience but still they didn’t show up. Maidaan’s Day 2 Total Box office collections are as follows:

Maidaan has completely crashed on Day 2 with a 3 crore nett. The total collections for 2 days are around 10.25 crores nett and gross around 12 crores. The overseas performance of the film is also disastrous with only around 3.5 crores. The total worldwide gross of the film is just 15.5 crores. If the same performance persists, the film may end up at around 40 crores gross mark worldwide. This will be an epic disaster. The film was made on a budget of around 250 crores as reported.

Maidaan faced several postponements and finally released this weekend only to get thrashed by the audience. The film also faced competition with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff which too had suffered the same fate. This is very interesting to see both Veteran heroes facing minimal collections for their big-budgeted films.

Firing outside Salman Khan’s house

Early this morning multiple gunshots were fired outside Bollywood star Salman Khan’s home in Mumbai. The incident happened at 5 am today when two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired five rounds in the air outside Mr Khan’s home, in Bandra, and sped away from the scene. 

A bullet also hit the first floor of the Galaxy Apartments where Salman Khan resides. According to the police investigation a foreign pistol was used in the firing. Mumbai Police has launched a probe into the incident and is trying to track down the individuals who fired the shots.

Salman security has already been a matter of concern for the police for quite some time. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) last year released a list of the top 10 targets of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi which Salman Khan was in the top spot.

Lawrence Bishnoi has reportedly targeted Salman Khan for his involvement in the 1998 black buck hunting incident. Mumbai Police escalated the Bollywood star’s security status to Y+, following another threat call made on April 11 last year.

Aadujeevitham smashes Premalu

This year so far has been terrific for the Malayalam cinema. While other industries are struggling to give hits, Malayalam cinema has delivered superhits and blockbusters in the form of Manjummel Boys, Premalu, Bramayugam, and Aadujeevitham. Even Fahadh Faasil’s recent release Aavesham is posting good numbers resulting in another success of the Mollywood.

Coming to Prithviraj’s Aadujeevitham, despite new releases in Mollywood, the film is continuing its epic run at the box office. The survival drama has collected 138 Cr gross till now. This means Aadujeevitham has now crossed Premalu emerging as an all-time top 4 film in Mollywood history.

Looking at this trend, trade analysts predict that the film is likely to collect more than 160 Cr gross in full run and will settle as all-time top 3 after Manjummel Boys and 2018 movie. The highly ambitious survival drama which has been in the pipeline for several years finally made its way to the theatres last month to great reviews and tremendous audience response.

The survival drama is written and directed by Blessy and has been in production for 6 years and the idea of the movie was conceived more than a decade back. The film also starred Amala Paul and Shobha Mohan and has been well-appreciated for its gripping narration and stunning visuals.

OTT Audiences Disappointed by Om Bheem Bush

Om Bheem Bush is a successful combination of the trio of Sree Vishnu, Priyadarshi, and Rahul Ramakrishna. Even though it has a good combination the film somehow failed to create a buzz in the audiences before release. Due to this low buzz, the film had an okayish opening despite positive reviews. The film had a decent first weekend but after the weekend it failed to sustain itself at the Box office.

Due to the positive reviews and the presence of Sree Vishnu, Priyadarshi, and Rahul Ramakrishna, the audiences were keen to catch the movie on its OTT release. Om Bheem Bush made its way to the digital world by streaming from 12th April on Amazon Prime Video.

Surprisingly, the movie is getting a negative reception and poor reviews from most of audience. Most of viewers felt the film was not engaging and entertaining enough. Compared to this, Sree Vishnu’s previous film Samajavaragamana did extremely well at the Box office and received super duper reviews from OTT audiences as well. Unfortunately for Om Bheem Bush, the magic did not work at the Box office and OTT as well

Cheating Case filed on Manjummel Boys Producers, Bank accounts Frozen

Manjummel Boys broke all existing records and emerged as all time blockbuster in Malayalam. The film was well received in Telugu states as well and its Telugu version is running to good response. The survival thriller, however, is now in news for all the wrong reasons.

The Ernakulam Sub Court has ordered the freezing of bank accounts belonging to the makers of Manjummel Boys. The account associated with Parava Films and partner Shaun Anthony was ordered to be frozen following a petition by Siraj Waliyathara Hameed.

Hameed alleged that he invested Rs 7 crore in the film with promises of a 40% profit share, but was cheated. The petition claims the film made Rs 220 crore globally and earned Rs 20 crore from OTT platforms. A court notice has been sent to Soubin Shahir, the owner of Parava Films.

The court directed the officials to freeze the bank accounts of producers Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony. The court also served a notice to the producers and a reaction from them is awaited.

The survival thriller, featuring Sreenath Bhasi and Soubin Shahir in the lead roles emerged as an industry hit in Malayalam and performed tremendously will in all the territories it released in

Aavesham Day 2 Total Box Office Collections

Malayalam film, Aavesham starring Fahadh Faasil released on 11th April to positive reviews and superb word of mouth. The film also did greatly on the opening day becoming highest one for Fahadh Faasil. It collected a total 10.6 crores gross on the opening day with Kerala’s 3.5 crores, 0.75 crores and 6.35 crores coming from Rest of India and Overseas. Aavesham day 2 Total Box office collections are as follows:

Aavesham remained super strong on day 2 as well which is a working day. It collected 90% of the opening day’s numbers. The gross in Kerala was 3.25 crores on Day 2. Two days from Kerala is 6.75 crores and the worldwide gross is in the range of around 20 crores for two days. Today’s advance bookings are even higher and it will have a big day as well. The weekend performance will be very very strong going by these numbers.

Malayalam Film Industry which is riding very high with the recent successes of Premalu, The Goat Life and Manjummel Boys may have another film to join the list. If this trend continues, Aavesham too has all the chances of grossing 100 crores worldwide. Summer season also adds as an advantage for the film.

PVR-INOX Vs Kerala Producers – The Fight Intensifies

As explained in the previous post, an issue between the ‘Keral Film Producers Association’ and multiplex chain PVR-INOX has been on the rise lately. It all began when the mentioned association started their business venture, ‘PDC’, and mandated all the theatre owners to buy digital prints from them.

For reasons unstated, this didn’t go well with the multiple chain PVR-INOX, which countered it by making the bold move of banning Malayalam films from screening at their theatres worldwide. Obviously, this has resulted in a big chunk of revenue loss for distributors and producers since their films are not being screened.

Following this issue, the producers of Malayalam cinema are demanding PVR-INOX to compensate for the losses. They went on to say that no Malayalam film will be given to this multiple chain until this issue is sorted out. According to them, Aadu Jeevitham, Varshangalkku Shesham, Aavesham, Jai Ganesh, and Manjummel Boys have incurred significant losses.

Ram Charan, Upasana & Klin Kara Lands In Chennai – Here’s Why

Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan has been offered an honorary doctorate from Vels University, Chennai. Following a declination from him, Ram Charan, a nephew of his, was offered the same, and this time it was accepted.

In simple terms, Ram Charan is set to become Dr. Ram Charan very soon. The ‘Global Star’ along with Upasana and Klin Kara landed at Chennai International Airport today to attend the convocation at Vels University.

Charan will be the second actor from the ‘Mega’ family to achieve this honour after the legenadary ‘Mega Star’. As we all know, Chiranjeevi was honored with a doctorate from Andhra University for his incredible services to Telugu cinema. On the work front, Charan will be next seen in Shankar’s political drama Game Changer (2024), following which he will collaborate with Buchi Babu Sana for a rural actioner.
