Surya’s ET Box office opening and Audience report

Suriya’s ET Etharkkum Thunindhavan released worldwide today bringing an end to fan’s wish of seeing him on the big screen after 3 years. Priyanka Mohan stars in the lead role in this film and Pandiraj has directed it. Suriya’s last couple of films Soorari Pottru released (Akasam Nee Hadduraa in Telugu) and Jai Bhim released directly on OTT. These films were well appreciated and Suriya’s performance received special acclaim. However, fans now want Suriya to replicate that success on the big screen.

Unfortunately, it looks like the fan’s wishes will remain unfulfilled this time. This action entertainer has failed to create the buzz in all territories and has opened with very low occupancies and mixed word of mouth. Coming to Telugu states, Suriya’s ET has opened below Ajith’s Valimai. In Tamil Nadu, the movie had a poor opening and estimates are in the range of Rs 6Cr gross.

While these numbers could be so low due to the weekday release, we need to wait out and see how the weekend goes for the film. The next 2-3 days are going to be absolutely crucial and would determine the film’s fate.

Salman khan joining the sets of Chiranjeevi’s God father

The news is circulating from a long time that Salman Khan is acting in Chiranjeevi’s movie. Latest information confirms that Salman Khan will be part of Megastar’s Godfather. Godfather is a remake of Malayalam film Lucifer. In the original Mohanlal played the lead role and Prithviraj Sukumaran played a supporting role. Chiranjeevi is playing mohanlal’s role and Salman Khan will play Prithviraj’s role as per reports.

The shoot is supposed to start in January but it got delayed due to covid and other reasons. Now as everything is set, the shoot is starting on 12th March at ND Studios in Karjat. It’s going to be a week schedule for two megastars as they will be shooting some action and emotional scenes in the set up.

The fans will have an eye feast if the two megastars rock the screens. Successful director Mohan Raja known for his films like Hanuman Junction, Thani Oruvan (original of Dhruva), Velaikkaran is directing the film. Nayanatara and Satya Dev are playing other vital roles in the movie.

Andhra Pradesh government on Monday approved a new G.O. on permitting new shows and ticket price hikes. Makers of Radhe Shyam waited for long and even postponed their film’s release for this ticket price hike. Made on a budget of 100 crores the film is a periodic drama focusing on heavy VFX scenes. Releasing the film with normal reduced ticket prices would have been a big mistake. However with the ticket hike everything seemed to be good now.

An additional Rs 50/- was also allowed with ticket hike price which made the makers even more happy. AP Cinematography minister, Perni Nani has even mentioned this to help big budgeted films like Radhe Shyam and upcoming RRR. But it seems there is still no official confirmation by the goverment regarding this. The makers have even applied for the hike but government remained unresponsive still. Distributors and makers are eagerly waiting for the the official confirmation and permission for the ticket bookings. It looks like the government is playing hide and seek with the makers.

Radhe Shyam is about to release tomorrow yet there are no bookings open in the booking portals. On the other hand Telangana government has just approved a 5th show for the film. There might be an official confirmation by today from AP government.

Radhe Shyam starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde is about to release on March 11. Made on a budget of around 100 crores the film is about to release in Indian Languages as a Pan-Indian film. This film will also be Prabhas’ third Pan-Indian film after Bahubali and Sahoo. Makers and Prabhas are very much confident about the film’s success. Prabhas has many more upcoming films which are Pan-Indian made. This film’s success will be crucial for him.

Because of the less ticketing prices in AP, the makers felt it is very difficult for the film to achieve a hit status. So they lobbeyed with the Goverment along with many other celebrities who met AP CM Jagan in person and appealed for the price hike. Agreeing to their please, AP government assured them of the high prices hike. However an official confirmation is still pending.

On the other hand Telangana government made an official confirmation allowing a 5th show. But they rejected an early morning show. They allowed a 5th show that can be exhibited during the period only from 10 AM to 1 AM. However no show should be allowed before 10AM. A G.O. has been released to this effect.

Radhe Shyam failed to create buzz in other languages

In just a day’s time, Prabhas’ fans are going to witness their Darling back on screen! Radhe Shyam has been one of the most eagerly awaited Tollywood biggies and the only reason for that is Prabhas himself. His last outing was 2019 action entertainer Saaho. After Saaho, Prabhas surprised many by opting for a romantic film. But, if we go by the trailers, the movie is much more than just a routine love story.

While the anticipation among the fans is quite high, the same can’t be said about the trade circles of other languages. The presentation of the movie’s content and the failure of the makers in creating strong buzz are the main reasons for this.

After Baahubali 2, Saaho was released with great expectations and had a huge opening in all languages. While the film had mixed reviews, it performed brilliantly in Hindi in particular. The film had a sensational start and collected 150Cr in Hindi. The pre-release buzz in Hindi and Saaho mania across the north that was seen back in 2019 is currently missing in the case of Radhe Shyam.

This may be because of the movie’s genre, and the rest of the supporting cast. Apart from Prabhas, the film doesn’t have a single crowd pulling factor. In Telugu, the brand Prabhas is quite strong and his mere presence is enough for people to flock to the theatres. In other languages, the movie needs a strong word of mouth to pull the audience.

OTT release movies for this weekend

This weekend is indeed going to be a busy one for the movie overs. With the much-awaited Radhe Shyam all set to rule the big screens, the small screen will also see as many as 6 releases. Here’s a list of OTT release movies for you to watch over the weekend.

  1. Khiladi (Disney + Hotstar)– Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s Khiladi released last month to mostly below par reviews. The film was in making for quite some time and after much delays released on 11th February. This action thriller starred Dimple Hayathi and Meenakshi Choudhary in lead roles. Khiladi will now release on Disney + Hotstar on March 11th.
  2. Maaran ( Disney + Hotstar)– Dhanush’s Maaran is another biggie to release this week on OTT. Maaran stars Malavika Mohanan opposite Kollywood star and is directly going for an OTT release on Disney + Hotstar. This political action thriller sees Dhanush as an investigative journalist who finds himself in trouble over a story he publisehed against a politician. Maaran will release on March 11th as well.
  3. Qubool Hai (Aha)– Qubool Hai is an Aha original releasing on the streaming platform on March 11th. The movie follows the dark world of Child marriage and human trafficking of a 13 year old girl and the investigation that follows. Set in Talaabkatta, Hyderabad, the film features mostly new comers.
  4. Clap (Sony Liv)– Aadhi Pinnisetty’s sports drama ‘Clap’ is another fresh OTT release of the week. The film was earlier supposed to release theatrically but the plans were changed and Sony Liv will be streaming it from March 11th. Prakash Raj, Nasser, Akanksha Sharma star in this film about an athlete and his life struggles.
  5. Rowdy Boys (Zee 5)– Ashish’s Rowdy Boys is going to stream on Zee 5 from March 11th. The movie released on this Sankranti mostly to mixed reviews. Anupama Parameswaran stars in this film as a medical student while Ashish, an indisciplined engineering student tries to woo her. What happens next and how his life shapes up is what the film is about.
  6. Rider (Zee 5)– Nikhil Gowda and Anusha Rai starrer Kannada action entertainer is the next OTT release of the week. The film released last year and will now stream on Zee 5. Rider has also been dubbed in Telugu and will be available on Zee 5 from March 11th onwards.

Poonam Kaur is active in twitter and will be in limelight always posting some interesting stuff to the netizens. Poonam Kaur had some hits in Tollywood like Souryam, Vinayakudu, Eenadu, and Gaganam. She also acted in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies. The Hyderabad born actress didnot do any noted films recently. She is now trying her luck again with her upcoming film NathiCharami. The film is based on real-life incidents. Nathicharami is releasing in 20 OTT channels on 10th March.

Actor Arvind Krishna and Sandesh Buri shares the screen with Poonam Kaur in the lead roles while Nagu Gavara handles the direction. The film’s trailer was released recently on social media.

Director while talking about the movie once said “The story has been written on the basis of true incidents that happened in Hyderabad around the year 2000. The Characters are totally fictional. The drama has emotional scenes between a married couple. Back at the turn of the century, the trend of many Indians migrating to the US for greener pastures started in a big way. Our movie is about what a family had to go through because of the Y2K crisis. This is a family drama with crime at its centre. Arvind Krishna, Poonam Kaur and Sandesh Buri are the actors whose characters are at the centre of a conflict”.

When talking about the film’s OTT release, Eastwest Entertainers ceo Rajiv says “We are releasing this movie on 10th of March in 20 OTT Channels like Amazon, Hungama, Sony, Tata Sky, Airtel Extreme, YMX”. Audience are enjoying the suspense thriller movies following the current trend. So people wants to give it a shot in OTT if it at least have a watchable content.

Vishwak Sen’s new movie has launched officially

Young Hero Vishwak Sen known for his Faluknama Das coming up with a comedy thriller next. The movie is being produced under his own banner Vishwaksen Cinemas along with Vanmaye Creations. Naresh Kuppili is the director while Bezawada Prasanna Kumar is penning the script and dialogues. The film is officially launched today and it gets an interesting title.

Carrying the legacy of Faluknama Das the new movie is titled as “Das ka Dhumki”. Nivetha Pethuraj roped in as female lead. Das ka Dhumki is launched today. Allu Aravind, Anil Ravipudi graced the event. The films regular shoot will commence from 14th March.

Andhra Pradesh government on Monday approved a new G.O. on permitting new shows and ticket price hikes. Big budget film like Radhe Shyam and RRR waited and postponed their film’s release for the ticket price hike. From the beginning Radhe Shyam was projected as a big budgeted film with lots of VFX related scenes. This made the makers lobby with AP Government about the ticket hike prices to come into effect as soon as possible. Makers are now happy about the revised ticket prices in AP. Radhe Shyam even got an additional Rs 50/- along with revised ticket prices for 10 days considering its huge budget.

Many celebrities like Mahesh Babu, Chiranjeevi and Rajamouli visited AP CM in person to appeal for the same to help their big budgeted films. In recent times even though footfalls are decent to good for many films, there isn’t much revenue being generated in AP due to the less ticketing price brought by the Government. Now the industry is looking for Radhe Shyam getting the same record foot falls like earlier.

Radhe Shyam is going to be released as a Pan-Indian film in all Indian languages in a grand manner. This is also going to be third pan-indian film for Prabhas after Bahubali and Sahoo. The performance of this film will be very crucial for Prabhas to establish himself as a bankable star through out the country. His next films too are all Pan-Indian. He has high hopes on this film. The run of this film will also be a booster for the upcoming big budget biggies like RRR and KGF. Starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde Radhe Shyam is slated for release on March 11.

Bheemla Nayak makers lose 20cr because of political reasons

Bheemla Nayak starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati did very well on opening day and had a strong weekend at box-office too. The film suffered later with no repeat audience. It crumbled on weekdays totally losing sheen on second weekend. The film has managed to collect nearly 90 cr share in 11 days. The entire theatrical business is valued at 107.6 crs. Now the film as it looks is about to lose 20 crore because of the political reasons too.

Pawan Kalyan started to have a direct war with the ruling AP government. He openly criticized the government wherever he had gone. Be that a political event or any filmy event. The government came up with a G.O on regulating high ticket prices. This has not gone well with film celebrities too. Celebrities like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Prabhas met AP CM Jagan in person and had requested him to hike the ticket prices to support their big budget films. Government had even promised them on this telling a new G.O. would be released during February’s final week.

Makers of Bheemla Nayak surprisingly came up with the release of the film on February 25 suddenly. Government on the other hand didn’t release any G.O. regarding ticket hike. The G.O. was released yesterday but Bheemla Nayak’s run has almost ended up at the box-office as of now. Radhe Shyam is about to release in 3 days. If the G.O. had come earlier Bheemla Nayak would have got 20 cr more. Pawan Kalyan’s political war is costing his films badly. The makers of his films too are not having any word with the Government which is surprising. It is better for makers to have good talks with Government.
