Vikram’s Cobra 1st Day Worldwide Box Office Collections

After a long theatrical wait for Vikram, he is finally back with his much-awaited sci-fi thriller Cobra. The film was released in theatres on 31st August and opened to mixed reports from audiences. While some people raved about the acting performance of Vikram, many complained about the runtime and the love track.

However, Cobra managed to rake in an impressive amount at the box office on the opening day due to some decent hype and the festival advantage as well. It has opened to great numbers in most of the territories.

Cobra has grossed more than 4+ crores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Vikram has always enjoyed a great following in the Telugu states and his films have tasted great success here. This time around as well, his film has done solid collections.

Cobra has raked in a good amount in Tamil Nadu, with more than 12+ crores. It has also collected 1.6 crores in Kerala, followed by 2.2 crores in Karnataka. Overall, the film posted 20+crores in South India. Coming to the rest of the world, Cobra has collected 3.5 crores approximately.

The overall first-day box office collections of Cobra stand at 23 crores approx. This is the 2nd best collection for a Vikram film after Shankar’s I movie.

శ్రీకాంత్ రెడ్డి, సంచిత బసు జంటగా వంశీధర్ గౌడ్, లక్ష్మీనారాయణ దర్శకత్వం వహించిన చిత్రం ఫస్ట్ డే ఫస్ట్ షో. ఈ చిత్రానికి జాతి రత్నాలు సినిమా దర్శకుడైన అనుదీప్ కెవి కథ, స్క్రీన్ ప్లే, డైలాగ్స్ అందించారు. పూర్ణోదయ క్రియేషన్స్ అధినేత ఏడిద నాగేశ్వరరావు మనవరాలు శ్రీజ ఈ చిత్రాన్ని నిర్మించారు. ఈ సినిమా ఈ శుక్రవారం అంటే సెప్టెంబర్ 2 న ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు రానుంది. ఈ క్రమంలో సినిమాకి సంభందించిన ప్రీ రిలీజ్ ఈవెంట్ ను తాజాగా పార్క్ హయత్ హోటల్ లో ఘనంగా నిర్వహించారు. ఈ వేడుకకు మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి చీఫ్ గెస్ట్ గా హాజరయ్యారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా చిరంజీవి తనదైన శైలిలో సుదీర్ఘమైన ప్రసంగం ఇచ్చారు. నేను ఈ ఫంక్షన్ కు ఎవరికోసం వచ్చానంటే.. ఏడిద నాగేశ్వరావు గారి కోసం వచ్చాను. వారు మొదలుపెట్టిన పూర్ణోదయ బ్యానర్ లో నేను మూడు సినిమాలు చేశాను. ప్రపంచంలో తెలుగు వారు గర్వించ దగిన సినిమాలు పూర్ణోదయ బ్యానర్ వారు తీశారు.

శంకరాభరణం, స్వాతిముత్యం, స్వయంకృషి లాంటి ఎన్నో మంచి సినిమాలు తీశారని చిరంజీవి అన్నారు. అలాగే తెలుగు సినిమా పరిశ్రమ ఒక గొప్ప పరిశ్రమ అని చెప్తూ.. ఇక్కడ ఉన్నందుకు ఆయన ఎంతో గర్విస్తున్నట్లుగా సెలవిచ్చారు. అలాగే తనకు చిత్రసీమతో మధ్యలో కాస్త గ్యాప్ వచ్చినా.. మళ్లీ ఇక్కడికే వచ్చానని అన్నారు. పరిశ్రమలోకి ఒక ఫైర్ తో ఒక టాలెంట్ తో వచ్చిన వాళ్ళు ఎప్పుడైనా ఇక్కడ నిలదొక్కుకుంటారు. అలా కాకుండా ఇండస్ట్రీకి వచ్చాం కదా ఇక అంతా అయిపోయింది అని లైట్ తీసుకొంటే మాత్రం వెనక్కి పంపించేస్తుందని చిరంజీవి అన్నారు.

ఇక సినిమా ఇండస్ట్రీ గడ్డు పరిస్థితుల్లో వుంది, ప్రేక్షకులు థియేటర్ల వద్దకు రావడం లేదు అని కొందరు అనుకుంటున్నారు. కానీ సరైన కంటెంట్ తో సినిమాలు తీస్తే ప్రేక్షకులు తప్పకుండా థియేటర్ల వద్దకు వస్తారు. బింబిసార, సీతా రామం, కార్తికేయ 2 మంచి కంటెంట్ తో వచ్చిన సినిమాలు హిట్ అయ్యాయి అని చిరంజీవి చెప్పుకొచ్చారు.

ఇక ప్రస్తుతం తెలుగు సినిమా పరిశ్రమలో దర్శకుల పనితీరు పై కూడా చిరంజీవి వ్యాఖ్యానించారు. కేవలం హీరోల డేట్స్ ఉన్నాయి కదా అని షూటింగ్స్ చుట్టేసినట్టు సినిమాలు యేయ కూడదు. దర్శకుడు అనే వాడు కథల మీద దృష్టి పెట్టాలి అని చిరంజీవి పేర్కొన్నారు. అలాగే ఇలాంటి చిన్న సినిమాల తాలూకు ఫంక్షన్లకు వెళ్తే స్థాయి తగ్గుతుందని అనుకుంటారు కానీ నేను వాళ్లకు ఈ విధంగా సహాయ పడడం నాకు సంతోషంగా వుంటుందని చిరంజీవి చెప్పుకొచ్చారు.

During the pre-release event of Anudeep KV’s First Day First Show, Megastar Chiranjeevi honored the event as a special guest. During the event, he spoke about the audience’s mindset to come to the theatres as opposed to watching films on OTT.

He said, “For a while now, the industry has been confused about the audiences. The main doubt has been whether the audiences will come to the cinema halls or not. But the truth is nothing has changed except our thinking. The audiences still want to go to the theatres to watch a film.”

“Having said that, I agree that people will watch films on OTT from the comfort of their homes on TV, laptops, and smartphones. But that does not mean that they do not want to come to the theatres. This is just our false assumption.”

He further added, “But this is true under only one condition, the content of the film has to be good. Only then, the audiences will be satisfied that they paid their money’s worth. We as an industry have to ensure that we make engaging and entertaining films for them. Recent releases like Sita Ramam, Bimbisara, and the recent Karthikeya 2 are just proof of that. These films capture the audiences for 2+ hours, which is why they worked in theatres.”

“There is no need to fear that the audiences have changed and whatnot. As long as the content is good they will come. If the film is bad it will crash in 2 days. Even my film Acharya is proof of that, content is always the most important aspect” he concluded.

Every Friday brings a new surprise for the audience. The month of August has been quite an interesting one with some huge hits and a disastrous flop. However, August has overall been a great month for the Telugu Film Industry and we are hoping for the same in September.

September is going to be kicked off with two parallel releases. Vaishnav Tej’s Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga and Anudeep KV’s First Day First Show are both gearing up for a September 2nd release date in theatres. While Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga is a romantic comedy, First Day First Show is an Anudeep-style quirky comedy.

But it looks like both these films have missed a golden opportunity at the box office. Both films would have enjoyed a great opening day if they were released on August 31st. Due to the occasion of Vinayaka Chaviti, they would have had the holiday advantage.

The dubbed version of Vikram’s Cobra was released yesterday and opened to excellent numbers. If the two films were released yesterday, they would have easily opened to very big numbers at the box office. It looks like a golden opportunity has been missed by the team.

Vijay Deverakonda’s much anticipated Pan-Indian film Liger was released in theatres on August 25th. It opened to disastrous reviews and tanked at the box office. The film has been unanimously deemed a disaster and has also been subject to a lot of trolling.

There are a lot of mistakes that led up to the downfall of Liger. The first mistake was Vijay Deverakonda not looking at the script of the film. The second mistake was Puri Jagannadh not writing any script and the third mistake was converting it into a movie.

But perhaps, there is a greater mistake than all these mistakes. The biggest and also the costliest mistake of Liger is roping in Mike Tyson to play an extended cameo. It cost the team more than 25 crores to bring in Mike Tyson to play a role in the film. The producers had to break the bank to get him in the movie.

This would be understandable if Mike Tyson played a crucial role in the film but he adds no value to the proceedings. In fact, his sequence in the film looked unintentionally funny and made the audiences cringe in their seats.

This was a huge blunder from the team as Mike Tyson did not attract audiences to the theatres. Mike Tyson is undeniably a legend in the boxing world but in the world of Tollywood, no one cares about Mike Tyson’s presence in Liger.

Instead of spending huge bucks on Mike, they could have roped in some superstars from other industries which would have helped in filling more seats. Because of Mike, the budget for the film was increased and not a single penny has been recovered from those 25 crores.

ఈ చిత్రం హిందీ బాక్సాఫీస్ వద్ద అయితే అనూహ్యమైన స్పందన రాబట్టింది. తొలి రోజు తక్కువ ధియేటర్లలో విడుదలై కేవలం 7 లక్షల నెట్ సంపాదించిన కార్తీకేయ 2 చిత్రం, టాక్ తో పాటు థియేటర్లను కూడా పెంచుకుని మొత్తంగా మూడు వారాల వద్దకు వచ్చేసరికి 24 కోట్ల నెట్ కలెక్షన్లను నమోదు చేసింది. నిన్న ఒక్క రోజే ఈ చిత్రం దాదాపు 68 లక్షలు కొల్లగొట్టింది. బ్రహ్మాస్త్ర విడుదలయ్యే వరకు ఈ తెలుగు సినిమాకు వీలైనన్ని వసూళ్లు రాబట్టే అవకాశం ఉందని ట్రేడ్ వర్గాలు అంచనా వేస్తున్నాయి. ట్రెండ్ ను బట్టి చూస్తే ఈ సినిమా ఫుల్ రన్ లో ఖచ్చితంగా 30 కోట్ల మార్క్ ను చేరుకునే అవకాశం ఉందని తెలుస్తోంది.

Nikhil’s Karthikeya had a terrific hold in the 3rd weekend and it even dominated the new release Liger. Nikhil’s performance, Chandoo Mondeti’s gripping narration, and Kaala Bhairava’s terrific BGM were the main highlights of the film.

The collections have been on an upward swing and right the collections have been surpassing the previous weekends. This is an extremely rare feat and the film’s performance has brought a massive relief to the trade circles. A sequel to the 2014 film, Nikhil’s Karthikeya 2 also stars Anupama Parameswaran, Srinivas Reddy, and Anupam Kher in key roles.
