Extraction Movie Review- 2 hours of raw action!

After all the hype since the release of its trailer, Netflix original Extraction released on Netflix yesterday. The film stars Chris Hemsworth in the lead role and he himself is the producer of the film. Randeep Hooda also plays a very important character in the film.

Plot: Ovi Mahajan, son of India’s biggest drug lord, played by Pankaj Tripathi gets kidnapped by Bangladesh’s drug lord Asif. Then Saju (Randeep Hooda) working under Ovi’s father decides to hire foreign mercenary Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) to get bring back Ovi. The rest of the story revolves around how the kid was extracted from Dhaka.

Action Sequences: Sam Hargrave who was the stunt coordinator of Captain America- Civil war and Avengers endgame is the director of the film. It completely makes sense to hire a stunt director to direct an out and out action movie. Surely there needs to be a special mention about action sequences. The Dhaka chase sequence is exhilarating and the cinematography is brilliant. Continuous shots of the chase sequence are breathtaking. Sure enough, the film has great action scenes but it doesn’t have much else.

Performances: Chris Hemsworth is the soul of the movie and carried this single line plot on his shoulders. He was pitch-perfect in all action sequences and emotions with the boy worked out well. The boy justified his role with decent performance. Pankaj Tripathi’s screen presence was very limited and you hardly remember him through the movie. Randeep Hooda justifies his performance. Rudhraksh Jaiswal who played the role of Ovi Mahjan, also played his part well.

Analysis: The background of the characters was not shown which makes it hard for the emotions to settle in. Actors like Pankaj Tripathi and Randeep Hooda were underused. Keeping logics aside, Extraction is a decent watch for action lovers.

P.S: It’s 2 hours of raw action with no logics and a way to time pass during this lockdown. So, why don’t you give it a try!

Superstar MaheshBabu and Vamsi Paidipally collaborated 2 years back for Superstar’s landmark 25th film Maharshi. Vamsi was supposedly be working again with the Superstar after his 26th released.

Everyone was convinced that after SarileruNeekevvaru, it was Vamsi Paidipally’s project. During the 8 months after Maharshi’s release, Vamsi Paidipally worked on the script and narrated to Mahesh just after SLN released. To everyone’s surprise, Mahesh didn’t like the script at all and rejected it. Meanwhile, Sensarional Director Rajamouli and Mahesh combination was in works since 2010 when they both had officially announced it. Due to the prior commitments rajamouli had, this project didn’t go on sets for almost a decade now. During one of his recent interviews, Rajamluli confirmed the movie with Mahesh after RRR.

With Superstar about to start Parasuram’s movie in the next 2 months and having SSR’s movie in the pipeline, he might have just 1 more movie in between. Trivikram, Koratala Siva, Harish Shankar etc. are trying to work with the superstar. With that many directors in line, the doors are almost closed for Vamsi Paidipally.

Power Star Pawan Kalyan who flipped his decision to stop acting in movies has announced back to back films a couple of months ago. As he enjoys an enormous fan base and craze in trade circles, Producers have agreed to give huge remuneration.

Pawan Kalyan’s idea is to make 4-5 films before the 2024 elections and make some money to run his party simultaneously. But, due to the Corona Virus Outbreak, all his planning might take a beating. As of now, no one knows until when this lockdown is to be continued. Even after lockdown is lifted, there is no guarantee that theatres will be opened. People might be hesitant to watch movies in theatres as it’s difficult to maintain social distancing. Same with film shootings. There will be major budget changes if the industry has to survive. Producers who were ready to give huge remuneration will cut his remuneration down.

Power star’s ongoing film Vakeel Saab and another film with Krish were planned to release this year while his film with Harish Shankar is currently under the Pre-production stage.

Review of Netflix series Little Things – Real and Relatble

Little things is an Indian Web television series produced by Pocket Aces. First season of the series was premiered on Dice media’s YouTube channel but Season 2 and season 3 were premiered on popular OTT platform Netflix. It features Dhruv Sehgal and Mithila Palkar in lead roles.

Little things is a show that revolves around Dhruv Vats and Kavya Kulkarni, a couple in a liv-in relationship in Mumbai. Show showcases the little things that happen between them in their life. Dhruv Sehgal who played the male lead in this is the sole writer of whole series. Way back when season one of the show was premiered, web series were not so famous in India but still season went on to be a super Hit on YouTube.         People just fell in love with Dhruv and Kavya because of how real, relatable, Intimate and natural they feel.

Little Things Season One Trailer

Season one was premiered in October 2016 with five episodes with each episodes of length 15 minutes. Whole season showcases cute romantic relation between the live-in couple who are trying to make life and career in Mumbai. First season tend to be more positive with almost no story line that just revolves around the cute little moments that are experienced by a young couple in their daily life. It is more of similar to famous Telugu web series “Geetha Subrahmanyam. But Little things was the show which was premiered first. By the end of first season you will surely fall in love with this couple.

Little Things Season 2 Trailer

Coming to season 2 which was premiered on Netflix unlike season one. When they joined hands with Netflix, they surely knew that they can’t wind up another season without a proper storyline. As expected, they have upped the game in terms of story, script and even in budget. Season one was more of just show casing the romantic relation between the lead couple but season two is where they tried to portray the real problems and emotions that most of the live-in couple have. In first season there wasn’t much performance scope for actors but season two is more evolved and hence actors have more to play with. Show tends to go more on emotions where they try to show how a live-in couple life can be affected by external factors like their careers, friends and family. Lack of more recurring characters is surely a let down to the season as just watching only two people and minimal other characters for all 8 episodes averaging 22 minutes each with no comical mix is surely not so appealing. Some of the episode just feel like unnecessarily little stretched but both Mithila and Dhruv have given a superb performance and also there are many loving moments in each episode which makes it easily watchable.

Finally Season 3 was premiered in November 2019 on Netflix. After watching first two seasons one will start feeling like makers have covered almost all the aspects in a young couple life. But the most important phase of any couple either they are in live-in or just in a relation or just got married is Long distance relationship. Dhruv has to move to Bangalore but Kavya stays back in Mumbai and couple try to manage long distance relationship. Coming to writing, cinematography and screenplay this season seems to be much better than season 2. Unlike first two season where whole story revolved around only the lead cast, season three is where writer takes us deep into their lives where they travel back to their home, not Mumbai but their actual homes in Indore and Delhi respectively. They tried to show case comparison between how their lives were before they got together, how they are now and how they might be in future. First two seasons had a story which was mostly self-centered only between lead pair and minimal characters but in season three, we get to see more characters and makers have also tried to give more emotional touch to the story.

There are few people who liked season one but didn’t like the other two seasons and vice versa. This is because of the approach makers have followed. For people who like to see only cute and romantic things in lead pair’s journey which is the base for season one, may not like the other two seasons which mostly go on an emotional note and are more story centric where director takes us through their journey. Also lack of comical mix and recurring characters will make viewers bored occasionally.

Show mainly focuses on the things that happen in every couple’s life. This is what made people fall in love with this show. Once you complete watching every season there will be at least couple of things that you can relate to your life. Is this the show only for people who are relation? Absolutely Not. Even if you are never in a relation you will surely get connected to the show. First season is directly available on YouTube with just five episodes and 15 minutes each. We highly recommend you to go watch the first season which will take less than 90 mins to binge watch whole season. After watching if you feel if this is your cup of tea then you will surely fall in love with whole series.

Dark Series Review – Better than Money Heist? Spoiler-free!

Dark is a German Sci-fi thriller web series which is set in a small town of Winden. This is the first German-language original series Netflix original. Although critics drew comparisons between another Netflix show, Stranger things initially but the way show went on has made those comparisons baseless.

Story begins in Autumn 2019 where a couple of boys goes missing. The whole series revolves around four families Kahnwald, Tiedemann, Nielson, and Dopler. Just after a couple of episodes director reveals there’s a wormhole beneath their small town, and it connects two different periods in history that are 33 years apart.

For the first half of the season, it is easy for the audience to follow the story as it revolves only between two times 2019 and 1986 but things get complicated when the story enters another timeline which is 33 years behind 1986, 1953.

Dark Season 1 Teaser

To be frank, after watching season 1 we won’t feel like we watched a masterpiece but that’s just a foundation to the whole story. But after watching season 2 one will realize that they just finished watching the best show ever made. Things get even more complicated in season two as the story leaps several months ahead in all three timelines and then two more timelines add up to the story, 1921 and 2053. Each and every episode of season 2 will shock in ways you never thought was possible. As we already mentioned it’s a spoiler-free review, We won’t reveal anything more than this.

Coming to casting, each and every character is perfectly cast and portrayed. Whoever is behind the casting of the show did an exceptional job. They manage to easily take us from one time period to the next with versions of characters that look the same. This is what made the viewers have clarity even though the story revolved in five timelines.

Most of the movies or web series dealing with time series concepts have miserably failed as writers always failed to convince and provide the viewers with clarity. But Dark has none of those issues as it is perfectly crafted by writers. Unlike other time travel movies or shows, Darks weaves characters into a puzzling situation that viewers are meant to solve.

Dark Season 2 Trailer

The period clothing is absolutely amazing and so are cinematography and music. Every timeframe in the show is just flawless. There are some CGI effects used but they did not spoil the show by overusing it. They tried to use sets where ever needed instead of going away with CGI. This made it more realistic.

One of the famous websites said that it’s not a show you watch but it’s a show you solve. If you ask people who watched both Dark and Stranger things which one is the best show majority are going to say with Dark.

Coming to the point, Is Dark better than Money Heist? We would say its tie. Both are thrillers that make the viewers stick to screens. But coming to script Dark is way more complicated than Money heist script and that’s where writers and directors deserve applause. If you haven’t watched Dark yet, we recommend you to give it a shot. You will surely fall in love with it.
