Highly anticipated Lucifer sequel launched, announces Pan-India release and more details

Lucifer, one of Malayalam’s biggest blockbusters, is set to have its sequel. The launch of the prequel-cum-sequel was announced by the Mohanlal-starrer. The makers have released a video that shows glimpses of the first part of the film and has also announced the start date of the second part. They also announced that the film will be released Pan India wide.

L2E-Empuraan is the title of the sequel. Lucifer was Prithviraj Sukumaran’s debut as a director, and he subsequently made Bro Daddy with Mohanlal. The entry of Lyca Productions into Malayalam films is being marked by Empuraan.

Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumar, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and other cast members shared updates on social media about the L2E Empurran launch with great excitement on their social media accounts.

Lucifer concluded with a hint of Mohanlal’s gangster background, and it appears that the sequel will depict his past until Lucifer began. It is widely known that Megastar Chiranjeevi played the lead role in Godfather, the remake of Lucifer in Telugu. Now we have to wait and see if Chiranjeevi will also bring the second installment in Telugu.

Skanda 3 days worldwide box office collections: 1/3rd recovery

Ram Pothineni’s Skanda has had a mixed fare if we analyze its first 3 days of collections. It started as Ram’s biggest box-office opener with great figures on Day 1. Skanda marked the career biggest opening for Ram both domestically as well as overseas.

In overseas markets, Skanda film opens well with around $250K opening overall worldwide. The share will be in the range of Rs 10.5Cr which is the biggest for Ram and his 1st double-digit opener.

However, Day 2 and Day 3 were not as impactful as the first day. Mixed word of mouth and reviews are largely the reasons for this. Here’s an area-wise 3 days breakup of Skanda collections (shares) in Telugu states.

Vizag – 1.97 Cr
East- 1.09Cr
West- 73 L
Krishna – 75 L

Telugu states – 15.37 Cr

The total worldwide share is estimated to be around Rs 18.5Cr. Skanda has managed to recover just 37% so far which is a below-par performance. This Boyapati Srinu project needs a serious revival in the next few days and continue a solid run at the box office if it has to enter profits. Which, at the moment looks highly unlikely.

Vijay Devarakonda and Samantha’s Kushi is now streaming on OTT

Kushi, directed by Shiva Nirvana is now streaming on Netflix. The romantic drama starring Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha has made its way to the digital platform exactly one month after its release on September 1st.

Kushi did well at the box office up until the first weekend, but it was unable to maintain the same run. The film has ended its run as a below-average outing much to the disappointment of Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha fans.

Netflix, which had acquired the digital rights of the film made the announcement of the film’s OTT release last month. Overall box-office-wise, the film got a below-average verdict including both Telugu and Tamil versions. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Kushi’s music by Hesham Abdul Wahab was one of its biggest strengths and helped the film in creating some initial buzz.

Kushi is streaming on Netflix from 1st October in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. It is widely known that Rajinikanth’s Jailer had created a sensation by collecting 500Cr+ gross alone in the Tamil version, which is the biggest collection for the Tamil language and at worldwide the film has collected 600Cr+ gross. Seeing the massive success of Jailer, everyone felt that the records of the film will stay for many more years as the numbers were so big in Tamil language.

But looking at the advance bookings trend of the upcoming action thriller film, Leo, it can be said that the film will definitely be able to break the records of Jailer if the word of mouth comes positive. The advance bookings for Leo are phenomenal at the moment.

The advance sales for USA premiers already crossed 250K$ and the tickets are selling at a rapid pace. Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s magical combo is working so big and, undoubtedly, Leo is the biggest hyped movie from Kollywood in recent times. At this pace, the film will certainly join the 1 million dollar club premiers, and the trade is expecting even expecting more. Wherever the bookings are opening, Leo is setting new benchmarks.

Tamil producers association requested government for five shows

Vijay’s Leo is up for release next month and Lokesh Kanagaraj and the team are busy giving final touches to the project. Leo is the most awaited project in Kollywood currently and will mark the return of the Vijay and Lokesh combo who earlier delivered a big hit with Master. Lokesh is in great form with all his previous films emerging as big hits, including Vikram which was a massive blockbuster. The film is also registering many records with just advance bookings itself.

However, a small concern over the early shows in Tamil Nadu is bothering the makers of Leo and Vijay’s fans as well. Currently, there is no permission for special shows in Tamil Nadu and the Govt directed that the shows should start from 9 AM and only 4 shows have to be screened.

Reportedly, The Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) has requested the Tamil Nadu government to grant permission for daily 5 shows in theaters in the state. We will need to see whether the govt accepts the request or not. If it gives the permission, then it will definitely help the film, Leo.

The TN government had actually decided not to allow any special shows on working days. A directive had been issued that the shows should start from 9 am only. All the recent movies followed the same, including biggie like Rajinikanth’s Jailer. Vijay’s fans were not happy with this new arrangement and have demanded special shows for Leo. They lashed against the government on social media for giving permission for special shows and trended with hashtags on Twitter.

Like every weekend episode, Nagarjuna came on Saturday to analyze the game and the performance of the contestants. Before talking to them, he watched a bit of footage from the Friday’s episode where the contestants played a shastri balm task. They were asked to select one contestant who is like a headache to them and one contestant as a stress reliever.

Nagarjuna looked angry as he came to the stage with a belt, and he was angry with many things that happened in the last week. He questioned Sandeep and Shivaji as they both were failed at their job as a Sanchaalak. Nag criticized Tasty Teja for his dangerous behavior with Gautam in the task. He also appreciated Priyanka, Subhashree, and Shobha Shetty for trying to stop Teja from attacking Gautam. Priyanka and Teja did not select anyone.

Teja accepted his mistake and said he was ready for any punishment. Subhashree suggested sending Teja to Jail, while Sandeep said Teja should be nominated. Then Nagarjuna said that Teja will be sent to Jail, and he should do whatever work does Gautam in the next week. Nagarjuna also nominated Teja for the next week, and he appreciated Gautam for his good behavior even when there was a dangerous physical attack on him.

Then a video was played by Nagarjuna where Subhashree was talking about her problem with Shivaji and Nagarjuna asked what her problem was. Subhashree said that she was uncomfortable with Shivaji coming so close to her during a task. Nagarjuna inquired with all the other contestants and played the video. He also asked the contestants whether the behavior of Shivaji was bad or not. Only Rathika and Subhashree said that his behavior went a bit overboard.

Nagarjuna also said that Shivaji should have taken care when Subhashree was telling him to not come closer to her. After that, Nagarjuna also played a video of Gautam and Prashanth where the latter discussed the former’s hand gestures during his argument with Shobha. Thereafter, he also played the old video of an argument between Shobha and Gautam. Then Nagarjuna asked the other contestants who was wrong and the majority of them felt Gautam was wrong.

Nagarjuna then asked Yawar to control his anger and should concentrate on the game. After that, Yawar said Sandeep was biased as a Sanchaalak and was an undeserving housemate. Rathika, Gautam and Amardeep selected Shivaji while Prashanth, and Subhashree selected Sandeep.

He also stated Amardeep is not understanding other contestants’ words during arguments. Gautam was also instructed by Nagarjuna to take care of his behavior and to have clarity on his statements. It was appeared that Nagarjuna was favoring Shivaji and intimidating Gautam. After that, Nagarjuna asked all the contestants that who is the undeserving housemate between Sandeep and Shivaji, and the latter got 6 votes.

In a shocking turn of events, the Power Astra was taken back from Shivaji and Nagarjuna made Shobha to break the Power Astra of Shivaji. As a result, Shivaji was removed as a housemate and became one of the contestants. Nagarjuna did not save anyone from the nominations and said he will reveal the details tomorrow.

Buyers are tense as Tollywood new releases experience a significant drop today

28th September was considered to be an excellent release date and this is why films like Skanda, Chandramukhi 2, and Peddha Kapu 1 were lined up for this date. The distributors who bought the movie for record rates were hoping to make good profits with these three films considering the weekend followed by the Gandhi Jayanti holiday that followed. The long weekend was a great time to get the box office buzzing. Unfortunately, these Tollywood new releases aren’t performing up to expectations.

Ram’s Skanda had a better start out of the three films but really needs to sustain against mixed talk and reviews for the next few days. This looks unlikely and the film might see drops on weekdays.

Peddha Kaapu 1 collected less than Rs 30L on opening day and gave a big shock to trade and buyers. The movie is projected to be a heavy loss venture. Even Chandramukhi 2 didn’t perform well despite being a sequel and while the Tamil version is performing better, the Telugu version’s performance has been abysmal.

The makers of these Tollywood new releases were expecting to witness a good jump from today but shockingly all the films have seen very big drops, and the buyers are in great worry as there is a chance for very big losses.
