0

Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra continues to rewrite records at the Kerala box office, and it has made history by becoming the first movie to cross 50,000 shows in Kerala, marking a major milestone for Malayalam cinema.

Presented by Dulquer Salmaan and directed by Dominic Arun, the film blends action elements with a gripping storyline. Produced by Wayfarer Films, the movie showcases a strong female lead, a superhero who has an intriguing backstory.

The film, Lokah, creates new benchmarks for Mollywood even after a 5-week theatrical run, and the film has collected 116 Cr gross in Kerala, and it is all set to become no. 1 grosser by this weekend.

If we come to the worldwide numbers, the movie’s gross is close to around 295 Cr, and it is all set to achieve the magical 300 Cr milestone.

The film’s success reflects its powerful storytelling and dynamic performances, resonating strongly with audiences across Kerala. With its stunning visuals and adrenaline-pumping action, Lokah has carved a unique space in Indian cinema.

Idli Kadai: Loved in Tamil, Rejected in Telugu

0

Dhanush’s latest directorial, Idli Kadai, released in theaters yesterday, and the film received negative WOM and reviews from Telugu audiences, while it gathered a positive response in its homeland, Tamil Nadu.

The film did not see any openings in the Telugu version, Idli Kottu, and a less than 1 Cr start in Telugu states indicates that it faced an outright rejection and will not do any numbers further as well.

While in the Tamil version, the WOM and reviews are completely different for Idli Kadai, as the movie received positive reviews and WOM. The collections increased with each show in Tamil Nadu, and the film even saw a double-digit opening.

One more surprising thing is that the film achieved Dhanush’s career’s biggest opening, which even surprised the trade.

Today, October 2nd, the film is trending very well in Tamil Nadu, but it is facing tough competition with Kantara, which opened with huge reviews and WOM. We need to wait and see how Dhanush’s Idli Kadai manages this competition.

The Nizam rights of the film have been sold for 55 Cr, and the film has collected 43.5 Cr in the 1st week, with a 79% recovery in the 1st week. The film needs a strong second weekend to bounce back completely and recover its business.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG needs a strong second weekend

Pawan Kalyan’s OG first-week collections are out, and in all territories of the Telugu states, the film is yet to achieve a breakeven status.

It has already achieved break-even at ROI with 9.25 Cr, and Overseas has been the best-performing territory with 29.5 Cr, and it is a huge profitable venture there.

Overall, the Sujeeth directorial had a good 1st week with a 146.75 Cr share and a gross around 248 Cr. If we include all languages, the gross is near 255 Cr.

The film requires a strong second weekend in the Telugu states to secure box office success.

OG had a decent first week in the Telugu states, recovering 69% of its investment. The film now needs to show strong collections in the festival second weekend to achieve breakeven for buyers. Meanwhile, in ROI and overseas markets, the film had a sensational first week, already recovering the invested amounts. The overseas recovery, in particular, has been very significant.

Overall, it was a good first week for OG, with over 80% recovery. The second weekend, coinciding with Dasara and Gandhi Jayanti holidays, is an advantage. The film needs to aim for a big second weekend to secure hit status, especially in the Telugu states.

Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 Review: An Engaging Tale with a Mix of Divine Elements and Highs

0

Movie Name: Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1
Rating: 3.25/5
Cast:
Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram, and others
Director: Rishab Shetty
Produced By:
 Hombale Films
Release Date: 2nd October 2025

With much anticipation from audiences across languages, Kantara: Chapter 1 has finally hit theatres worldwide, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra. The film’s premieres last night garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews. Let’s dive in to see how much impact this mystical action drama truly delivers in our review.

Story:

Kantara: Chapter 1 tells the story of Berme (Rishab Shetty), a tribal man who dreams of improving his village by learning from the outside world. The film shows his struggles with age-old traditions and the threats from evil forces, which he fights against with the support of a divine power.

Performances:

Rishab Shetty delivers a strong and convincing performance, especially in the transformation scenes. Rukmini Vasanth’s role feels uneven at first, but she shines later and adds real value to the story. Gulshan Devaiah is the weakest link, as his role and performance leave little impact. Jayaram and the rest of the cast fit their parts well.

Analysis:

Rishab Shetty not only plays the lead but also writes and directs this prequel to the 2022 film. The movie begins with stunning visuals that explore the folklore and mystery of Panjurli and Kantara.

The narrative mixes entertainment and romance. While the fun element is limited and the romance feels decent, the pace picks up strongly around the interval with some breathtaking VFX.

The second half starts off interestingly, linking the tiger with divine powers. However, the parts involving Gulshan Devaiah turn predictable. The Guliga sequence, on the other hand, is outstanding and leaves a lasting impact.

The scenes showing the bond between the King and the villagers are clear and engaging. The war sequence before the climax feels stretched, but the final moments end with great power, much like the first film

Positives:

  • Interesting Plot
  • Rishab Shetty’s Performance
  • CG Work
  • Scenes Involving Divine Powers And Folklore

Negatives:

  • Unnecessary Comedy Scenes In The First Half
  • A Few Dull/Dragged Parts

Kantra Chapter 1 Movie Review and Verdict:

Overall, Kantara: Chapter 1 is a step up from the 2022 version. Despite a few weak spots, the excellent CGI, thrilling action scenes, and strong use of divine themes make it a film worth watching.

Pawan Kalyan’s Gift to Sujeeth

0

“They Call Him OG,” the action drama, was released in theaters on September 25th and is running successfully in theaters. The film’s lead, Pawan Kalyan, confirms the prequel/sequel for the film in the latest success meet and says that it is like a gift from his side to Sujeeth.

The makers of OG held a success meet on October 1, 2025, which is today, with nearly all the cast and crew in attendance. Pawn Kalyan was also present and expressed his appreciation for Sujeeth and the entire team.

OG Success Meet: Pawan Kalyan Praises Sujeeth, Thaman and Team

“Sujeeth never narrated a story to me. He just shared an idea and a book with visuals of samurai and Japan. My son Akira explained it to me, and that’s how I chose to do the film, and I believed that Sujeeth is the director of Gen Z.

I saw him as a volcano that’s getting ready to erupt. Previously, I failed a lot of times due to lack of teamwork, but for “They Call Him OG,” I could see the teamwork and success of it.

Pawan Kalyan confirmed that both the prequel and sequel for OG are happening and mentioned that it is his return gift to his fanboy Sujeeth. However, he added that he will participate in the shoot with certain conditions in place.

0

Lokah is turning out to be a mammoth blockbuster at the box office. With a long dream run at the theaters, the film has broken many records, and now, it creates history with 1.18 Cr footfalls in the theaters.

With 1.18 crore footfalls, Lokah emerged as the biggest Malayalam box office hit of the 21st century. It became the 4th movie to do 1 Cr footfalls in the 21st century after Pulimurugan (1.08 Cr), Manjummel Boys (1.15 Cr), and Thudarum (1 Cr).

The film has grossed approximately 293 crore worldwide and is quickly approaching the 300 crore club.

Lokah: Chapter 1—Chandra, featuring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role, is directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. The cast also includes Naslen K. Gafoor, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Vijayaraghavan, with cameo appearances by Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas.

Idli Kottu Movie Review: A Tired and Overused Emotional Drama

0

Movie Name: Idli Kottu
Rating: 2/5
Cast:
Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Samuthirakani, and others
Director: Dhanush
Produced By:
 Dhanush, Aakash Baskaran
Release Date: 1st October 2025

Dhanush presents the emotional drama, Idli Kottu (Idli Kadai in Tamil). While the film’s trailer created decent expectations, it failed to generate significant buzz among audiences. Let’s dive into the review to see how the movie turned out.

Story:

The story of Idli Kottu follows Murali, who moves to Bangkok after completing his hotel management studies. However, he fails to live up to his father’s expectations. Realizing this too late, he returns to his hometown and takes over his father’s idli shop. The film then focuses on the conflicts that arise from this decision.

Performances:

Dhanush, as usual, puts in effort, but both his character and performance feel flat. Nithya Menen plays a supportive role, but her character offers her no real challenge. Shalini Pandey suits the role of a spoiled rich girl, though the film doesn’t give her much scope to shine. Arun Vijay does a decent job as the villain, but his role lacks the impact needed to stand out.

Rajkiran delivers strongly in the most crucial role, as expected, while Sathyaraj looks fine as a wealthy father. However, Samuthirakani, Parthiban, Ilavarasu, and the other supporting actors don’t leave much of an impression.

Analysis:

Dhanush directs Idli Kottu while also playing the lead role. From the very beginning, the story feels predictable, aiming for emotional appeal in a familiar way. Unfortunately, the film leans too heavily on melodrama in the first half, though a few emotional moments do connect. The interval action sequence feels forced and only hints at what’s to come.

The second half starts in a routine manner and drags on without much strength. The subplot involving the attack on Dhanush, the villagers, and Sathyaraj’s family comes across as exaggerated and unnecessary. Arun Vijay’s performance, along with his character, lacks the intensity expected from a strong villain. The romance between Dhanush and Nithya Menen is predictable, while the emotional bond with the villagers is underdeveloped.

The narrative slows down further during the Samuthirakani track, and the climax involving Arun Vijay and Shalini Pandey ends on a weak note

Positives:

  • A Few Emotional Scenes
  • Performances

Negatives:

  • Overboard Melodrama
  • Outdated Writing
  • Forced Emotions
  • Dragged Narration

Idli Kottu Movie Review and Verdict:

Overall, Idli Kottu (or Idli Kadai in Tamil) could have been a touching film. However, apart from a few emotional scenes, it feels clichéd, outdated, and stretched.
