Kantara Chapter 1 Set to Smash 100 Cr in Telugu States

0

Kantara Chapter 1’s Telugu states’ release was done on an advance basis. It’s a producer’s own release, and Hombale Films always does business likewise. They believed in the content and took the entire theatrical risk, which continuously does wonders for them.

In Telugu states, Kantara Chapter 1 opens with 15 Cr gross and a double-digit share, including GST. Today also the film starts on a very strong note. With this the film will easily do over 50 Cr gross on the 1st weekend.

With positive WOM and reviews, the film certainly has a strong chance of grossing over 100 Cr in the long run. However, whether it reaches close to 150 Cr will depend on the jump it sees this weekend and how well it holds afterward.

Telugu States Box Office: Can Kantara Chapter 1 Reach KGF-2?

As of now the trend is very good and strong for Rishab Shetty’s spiritual action drama, which is all set to join one of the biggest revenue films in Telugu states among dubbed releases.

KGF-2 collected around 150 Cr gross in Telugu, and whether Kantara can go to that range is still debatable, but 100 Cr gross looks like a sure shot possibility.

Franchise Films Rock Kerala, Except Pushpa 2

0

Franchise films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2, LCU film Leo, and Mohanlal’s Empuraan did very well at the Kerala box office, but Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 failed to meet expectations and became a big failure.

Apart from Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated sequel, all the films listed above debuted with record-breaking numbers and achieved massive success over time in Kerala.

Now Kantara Chapter 1 has also exceeded trade’s expectations, and despite not having much pre-release jump and multiple films running in theaters, it still sees a 6 Cr opening, which is one of the biggest openings in Kerala.

Pushpa 2 Kerala: A Disappointing Result

Surprisingly, the Rishab Shetty directorial nearly matches the opening of the highly anticipated project, Pushpa 2, at the Kerala Box Office.

Among franchise films, only Pushpa 2 failed to impress both in its opening and long run in Kerala. The film was expected to take a record opening but settled with just around a 6.3 Cr opening, and in its full run, it received disastrous collections.

Kantara Chapter 1 is expected to perform well in the long run, as the initial word-of-mouth for the film has been positive.

OG – Tollywood’s Biggest Grosser of 2025

0

Pawan Kalyan’s OG is rewriting all the benchmarks at the box office. The film became the biggest opener for Tollywood this year with more than 140 Cr gross, and it also achieved the biggest 1st-week grosser record with more than 250 Cr gross. Now with around 262 Cr gross for 8 days, OG becomes the biggest grosser of 2025.

The film’s share also crosses the 150 Cr mark. Sankranthiki Vasthunam was the biggest grosser of 2025 before, but now, OG crosses all the benchmarks and the full run of Sankranthiki Vasthunam and emerges as no. 1.

But share-wise, OG needs to collect another 10 Cr to beat Sankranthiki Vasthunam. As the Pawan Kalyan-Sujeeth film performed hugely overseas, where the share percentage is less compared to Telugu states’ territories, it beats Sankranthi Vasthunam gross-wise, but share-wise it needs another 10 Cr to cross the entertainer.

If we look at the overall box office perspective, “They Call Him OG” needs to see a big 2nd weekend and needs to aim for a 300 Cr gross mark for breakeven status. Yesterday the film saw a decent jump, and for the weekend the jump has to be much bigger, or it needs to maintain the same flow to go near the 300 Cr milestone.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari: Only For A Few Fun Moments

0

Movie Name: Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast:
Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and others
Director: Dhanush
Produced By:
 Dhanush, Aakash Baskaran
Release Date: 2nd October 2025

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor (who was recently seen in Param Sundari) star in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, a film produced by Karan Johar and directed by Shashank Khaitan, also featuring Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf. The trailer created moderate expectations among audiences. Let’s dive into our review to see if the film lived up to them.

Story:

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari follows Sunny (Varun Dhawan), who is heartbroken after his girlfriend Ananya (Sanya Malhotra) rejects his marriage proposal and decides to get engaged to the rich Vikram Singh (Rohit Saraf). To win Ananya back and disrupt her wedding, Sunny teams up with Tulsi Kumari (Janhvi Kapoor), who is Vikram’s love interest. Together, they plan a fake romance to make their exes jealous during the wedding celebrations.

Performances:

Varun Dhawan brings energy to the role and shines in a few scenes, but the character doesn’t offer much room for entertainment. Janhvi Kapoor performs well in some key moments, though her role lacks depth. Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra have limited screen time and do a decent job. Supporting actors like Abhinav Sharma, Maniesh Paul, and Akshay Oberoi are fine.

Analysis:

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the story of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari feels predictable and is mostly revealed in the trailer itself. The title gives away the ending, and the film never tries to surprise the audience. The first half has a few enjoyable scenes, but the emotional connection between the couples feels weak. Even at the interval, when Sunny rethinks his feelings, the impact remains flat.

The second half doesn’t improve much and continues with dull situations and ordinary character arcs. There are brief attempts to address topics like patriarchy, parenting, and marriage expectations, but none of them make a lasting impression. The climax turns chaotic, with a rushed and exaggerated attempt at comedy that misses the mark.

Positives:

  • A Few Fun Scenes
  • Songs

Negatives:

  • Flat Narration
  • Misses The Energetic Vibe
  • Lacks Proper Emotional Impact

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Movie Review and Verdict:

Overall, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has a strong cast, a couple of catchy songs, and some fun moments. However, the film ends up being a forgettable experience with very little emotional depth.

Pawan Kalyan Faces Pan-India Challenges

0

Pawan Kalyan scored his career’s biggest hit with his latest film, OG. The film, directed by Sujeeth, has delivered several records, much to the happiness of fans. However, Pawan Kalyan faces Pan-India challenges with the film.

From Top Tier-1, 6 big stars, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, NTR, and Ram Charan have already shown their impact at the pan-India box office and emerged as huge stars. Mahesh Babu’s next project with Rajamouli not only targets pan-Indian markets but also aims to capture even international audiences too.

Pawan Kalyan did not get the Pan India Success yet

PSPK fans expected Hari Hara Veera Mallu and OG to open the market for Pawan Kalyan in Pan India, as both films were released in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. But both films are limited to only the Telugu market with very negligible numbers from Hindi.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu has even failed in Telugu, as the director does not have any brand. OG was expected to see some numbers from Hindi, as Sujeet is the Saaho director and it was a gangster film, but it did not make any respectable numbers.

There is definitely a mistake from the team, as they agreed to a 4-week OTT deal, which resulted in the Hindi version not getting released in national multiplex screens.

Also, the team did not even try to reach single-screen audiences and did not promote the film. Pawan Kalyan’s next film is Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which is a regional film, and fans need to wait for some more time to see their hero get Pan-India stardom.

Kantara Chapter 1 Day 1 Box Office: Good Start

0

Rishab Shetty’s spiritual action drama Kantara Chapter 1 released today amidst good hype, and the film sees a good opening on Day 1 in India, as all languages contributed to the numbers for the film.

The Kannada version hits maximum occupancies throughout the day, and the Telugu version is the second one occupancy-wise, followed by Tamil and Malayalam. The Hindi version’s occupancies are a bit disappointing, though.

In Telugu states the film opening seems to be close to 15 Cr, while Karnataka will be more than 20 Cr including premieres, with 6 Cr around gross from Kerala. The Tamil Nadu gross is around 5 Cr, while North India’s gross is around 20 Cr.

Overall, Kantara Chapter 1 sees a good opening at the Indian box office with around 65 Cr gross. The opening could have gone to 100 Cr had the team rightly promoted the film and created much higher buzz.

We need to see how this film goes from here, and it needs to target more than 200 Cr the first weekend in India.

Malayalam Director Bags Record Remuneration from Suriya

0

Suriya’s next two films are Karuppu, which is finished under the direction of RJ Balaji, and his 46th film with director Venky Atluri, which is scheduled for release in 2026. After these films, Jithu Madhavan, the Malayalam director, will direct Suriya, who has bagged a record remuneration for the film.

According to the reports, Tamil actor Suriya has signed a film with Malayalam director Jithu Madhavan, and the Singham actor himself will produce this film. Interestingly, the actor will be playing a police officer role in the film, and the shoot will start at the end of this year.

For this film, Jithu Madhavan is said to be getting a double-digit remuneration, and it is the highest remuneration ever for a Malayalam director. The director recently scored a big hit with Aavesham (2024), starring Fahadh Faasil.

Kurchi Madathapetti Surpasses 700 Million Views

0

Kurchi Madhathapetti, the mass song from Guntur Kaaram, which was released in January 2024, became a sensational hit, and now the song achieves another record in YouTube views.

Mahesh Babu and Sree Leela’s energetic dance number, the Kurchi Madathapetti video song, crosses 700 million views on YouTube and becomes the 3rd Telugu song to achieve this milestone.

Butta Bomma with 922M views and Raamulo Raamula with 750M views stand as the top 2 Telugu songs on YouTube, and both songs are from the Ala Vaikunthapuuramulo movie.

Kurchi Madathapetti is likely to beat Raamulo Raamula and settle at the top 2 positions in the coming days. The fans/audiences loved the mass energy of both the hero and heroine in this song, and it is loved by all fans.

Kantara Chapter 1 Fails: OG Set as 2025 Biggest Opener in India

0

With the advantage of premier shows along with the franchise/sequel or prequel factor, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 was expected to be the best opener at the box office in India. However, the film fails, and Pawan Kalyan’s OG still stands as the biggest opener in India in 2025.

Coolie, with more than 150 Cr gross worldwide collection, is the biggest opener for Indian cinema in 2025, but at the Indian box office, OG is the biggest opener, as it opens with 100 Cr gross, including hires.

Even if we exclude hires, the film opens with more than 90 Cr gross, whereas Coolie’s all-India gross will be around 75 Cr. But the film has a huge lead overseas over OG, which made its number big at the worldwide box office.

Kantara Chapter 1 failed to get the biggest opening in India in 2025

Before its release, it was clear that Kantara: Chapter 1 had little chance of becoming the biggest worldwide opener for 2025. However, with the team planning a massive number of premiere shows, there were hopes that the film could surpass OG in Indian box office openings.

But the premiere shows count was not that big yesterday, as the makers chose to go with very limited shows, which resulted in around 5 Cr collections for those shows.

Even on its opening day, the film didn’t see significant openings in Hindi. In Telugu and Tamil, the shows were split due to competition from other films. As a result, Kantara’s all- opening couldn’t match the OG range.

The Rishab Shetty directorial is set to open with a smaller start than Coolie in India. With no major films releasing later this year, it’s confirmed that OG will be the biggest opener of 2025 in India, while Coolie takes the title of the worldwide biggest opener of 2025.

A Rating Costs Coolie and OG

0

Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Pawan Kalyan’s OG have one thing in common: both films have got an A Certificate from the censor board, and the very censor rating has hindered both films’ box office potential.

Nowadays, multiplexes and even some iconic single-screen theaters strictly follow the censor guidelines, and if a film opts for an A rating, then it will move kids away, which will in turn impact the film’s box office revenue to an extent.

The makers use the A certificate for the sake of publicity and say that the film will have brutal and very violent scenes, but after watching the film, fans and audiences feel that this A rating is unnecessary.

Recently, the same happened for Rajinikanth’s Coolie, and now for OG also the same is happening. Both movies could have easily opted for U/A for the content with some minor changes.

During the festival holidays this A rating will impact the numbers more than expected. The makers need to be very cautious about censor ratings for films, at least from now on.
