The film had a below-par opening weekend, grossing approximately ₹8.5 crore worldwide. However, it crashed on the first working day, collecting less than ₹1 crore globally. With such a steep drop, ‘NEEK’ is expected to wrap up its theatrical run with a single-digit share collection.

While the film turned out to be a theatrical failure, the makers managed to recover their investment through non-theatrical rights, thanks to Dhanush’s strong brand as a director. Though this marks Dhanush’s first directorial failure in terms of box office performance, the content itself wasn’t poorly received. Many believe that the poor release date played a major role in its underwhelming performance.

However, ‘NEEK’ is expected to gain popularity once it arrives on OTT, where it could receive a much better response. On its 1st weekday, the film holds 80% of opening day collections in Tamil Nadu, and it is expected to collect around 4.5 Cr in TN today. In Telugu States too, the film holds strong with around 1 Cr gross collection. The best thing is the overseas hold is again good. Box Office: Excellent Hold for Dragon

Overall for 4 days, the movie’s collection will be around 58 Cr. Tomorrow is Maha Shivarathri holiday. The movie is expected to witness a big jump from today’s evening shows and certainly will have a solid day at the box office tomorrow.

The film is expected to collect around 80 Cr in the 1st week and will cross the 100 Cr mark by this weekend itself. Its hold after the 2nd weekend will decide whether Dragon collects in the 150 Cr range. One big advantage of the film is there are no crazy films in Tamil for a few days.

This song is definitely a better one compared to the first single. But this song also can’t connect well and raise the buzz as these songs will work out only in the theatres. The team could have opted releasing the characters’ first looks by also showing strong visuals with it. A second Teaser should also be considered with fine visual content. This would surely raise the hype and buzz for the film.

The team is also waiting for Pawan Kalyan to allot dates to complete the shoot of the film which is getting delayed several times. There is also buzz in the Industry circles that the film may not come on the announced release date of 28th March this year.

A magic has to happen for the film to raise expectations drastically and Pawan Kalyan must join the shoot as soon as possible. The team must atleast change the promotional strategy from that moment.

Indian sequel has faced a lot of hurdles right from its first day of shoot. Firstly it was planned as a single part with around 250 Cr budget. But the budget went overboard during filming leading to the film being put on hold and sudden plans for Indian 3 popped up. It was during this time Shankar met Ram Charan and Dil Raju and started Game Changer.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan delivered a resounding success in the form of Vikram, and Red Gaint Movies got involved in Indian 2 to bring the project on track.


Indian Sequels : A costly mistake

During the production stage, footage of 5.5 Hours led the team to split the film into Indian 2 and Indian 3. The team planned back-to-back releases of these two within a very minimal gap as only a few days of shooting and a song shoot patchwork were pending.

Indian 2, was released to a disastrous talk and bombed massively at the box office. This led to Shankar focusing only on Game Changer which again emerged as a disaster at the box office.

The makers of Indian 3 were now stuck in a dilemma as the team must complete the project as 80% of the footage was already shot. Due to Shankar’s back-to-back disasters, the makers decided not to spend much budget of the remaining portion and canceled the song. Only some balance shoot parts and patchwork with reasonable making costs are to be done.

Still big hopes for Indian 3

Now Both Kamal Haasan and Shankar are not busy with any films and Indian 3 might go for shoot and release in 2nd half of this year. One Positive sign for Indian 3 is the songs of Indian 3 and the trailer has received a positive response. Kamal Haasan has also stated that Indian 3 is a much better project than its prequel and there will be great storytelling in this film.

They came up with exact numbers for their present film, Dragon starring Pradeep Ranganathan. Jason Sanjay, the son of Thalapathy vijay choose a different path of directing films. His debut film was committed under Lyca Productions, with Sundeep Kishan as the lead. For a while, the film was supposed to be put off, but the latest reports suggest that Vijay’s Son Jason Sanjay’s first film is on track.

Dhamaka combination is back

Tollywood Actor Ravi Teja had a big relief with Dhamaka after going through a series of failed films at the box office. The film also catapulted the stardom of Actress Sree Leela and Music Director Bheems Ceciroleo. The film also emerged as the biggest hit in Ravi Teja’s and Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s careers.

The good news for the fans and Audience is that the combination of Dhamaka is back to join for another film which has been confirmed by the Director in Mazaka promotions. He said that both Ravi Teja and himself were collaborating on a film under the production of Dil Raju. He also added that the script narration has already been completed.

Though Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina has a brand of making regular-style commercial films, he continuously delivered box office hits with his Cinema Chopistha Mawa, Nenu Local, Hello Guru Prema Kosame, and Dhamaka. If Mazaka emerges as successful then his streak will become bigger and stronger.
