Vishwambhara’s Blockbuster Release: A 10-Day Holiday Celebration

Sankranthi is one of the most advantageous seasons for new releases. The three-day festivities look to attract a family audience and movie lovers in huge numbers in the hope of blockbuster collections. This season becomes even sweeter when the three days fall on a weekend. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambara is releasing amidst such a time.

2025 Sankranthi falls on weekdays which is a huge advantage for films and especially for the mega biggie Vishwambhara. The movie has locked January 10th [Friday] as the release date. Day 1 will always be a big opening for the film, Day2 and Day 3 fall on weekends. Day 4 happens to be Bhogi, Day 5 Sankranthi, Day 6 Kanuma, Day 7 Mukkamuna and Day 8 is Friday with Day9 and 10 being weekends. This is a blockbuster date for the film with 10 days continuous holidays.

For schools and colleges, the holidays are expected to start from the 9th or 10th of January to the 19th of January, and Vishwambhara, its first 10 days fall in exactly this zone making it the greatest possible release time.

Chiranjeevi delivered Khaidi no. 150 and Waltair Veerayya during the Sankranthi season. And now, he is all set to deliver a massive blockbuster comeback. The Megastar is gearing up for a strong comeback and the release date has given him solid ground.

Double iSmart is eyeing Kalki’s release date

There is a common factor between Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star, Nani’s Saripodha Sanivaaram, and Ram’s Double iSmart. As pan India movies are struggling to release on their planned dates due to pending work and delayed VFX and post-production works, medium-budget movies are locking those release dates. This has happened in the past as well when Salaar was delayed and several small movies moved their release date to Salaar’s release.

Devara is another example of the same. It was planned for 5th April release. As there are chances of Devara being postponed, Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star is locking this release date. Once Devara’s official announcement is out, Family Star’s release will be announced and Dil Raju has officially confirmed the same.

The same is the case with Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram which is eyeing Pushpa 2 Independence Day release. There are chances of the Sukumar film being postponed as there is nearly 50% of shoot still left and just 200 days to release. Nani’s film will release on 15th August if Pushpa 2 is postponed.

And now, the same is happening with Ram’s Double Ismart. It was first planned on 8th March. Due to pending works, it has moved to the May release. The team is looking for 9th May if Kalki gets postponed. But if Kalki releases as planned, then Puri will go for 23rd May.

After Gabbar Singh, Pawan Kalyan promised a film to Harish Shankar. This was supposed to be Harish Shankar’s next project after Gaddalakonda Ganesh and the director spent years in the hope of directing Pawan Kalyan project. After continuous delays, the project finally went on set in 2023 April. But after the first schedule, the film was yet again put on hold.

Pawan Kalyan picked the shoot of this project again after Bro and put the film on hold again due to various political commitments. Harish Shankar faced a lot of tough times during this period and shifted to Ravi Teja’s project Bachchan Saab. The shooting is currently progressing well and the film is aiming for post summer release. 

There’s no clue about Ustaad Bhagat Singh and its status. There’s a lack of clarity over whether it has been shelved or will start after the AP Assembly Elections later this year.

But the good news for Harish Shankar is Megastar Chiranjeevi has stepped in and will be working with him. Chiranjeevi promised a film to the director in his daughter’s production. The film was initially planned with Bangarraju director Kalyan Krishna but after Bhola Shankar, the movie got shelved. Now Chiranjeevi is said to be doing this Harish Shankar movie in his daughter’s productions

Salaar disappoints OTT audience beyond the Telugu version

Salaar was one of the most anticipated movies of 2023 and was expected to shatter records like KGF2 in all languages. The combination of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel was billed to be a massive success owing to its genre and the people behind it.

KGF2 was a record grosser in Karnataka and entered the all-time top-grosser list in Telugu states, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. In Hindi markets also it managed to create a massive storm and the trade circles expected something similar with Salaar.

Salaar failed to live up to its expectations and excluding Telugu states, it did not even put decent numbers in South India. In other states also, Telugu versions collected more than the local versions and the film was a disappointment at Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam markets.

Now the same seems to be repeating on OTT as well. Salaar is trending in Netflix’s top 10 only in the Telugu version and no other version is trending in that zone. This will surely be a big concern for the team as there is a part 2 coming up and OTT success in all languages is equally crucial.

We now need to see how it works for the Hindi audience once the Hindi version releases. The Hindi audience must connect more with part 1 to generate buzz for part 2. The Hindi streaming is expected to happen in February 3rd week.

Pathaan and Jawan were all time blockbusters at the box office. However, his third film, in 2023, did not see the desired result. Now, the latest reports strongly suggest that Shahrukh Khan stands in a major dilemma on deciding for his next film.

As said above, after a big gap, Shahrukh gave a solid comeback in 2023 with all time blockbusters Pathaan and Jawan but Dunki had disappointed a little bit but overall 2023 was a dreamy year for any big star. Shahrukh Khan is said to be in a bit of confusion on selecting his followers films.

As per the plan, the Pathaan actor had to start shoot for the film “The King” alongside daughter Suhana Khan and in March Tiger Vs Pathaan was set to start. But due to the bad result of Tiger 3, Tiger vs. Pathaan was put on hold and a few reports recommended that the film was shelved as well.

Now the inside reports from Bollywood circles state that the King Khan Shahrukh has put the film “The King” on hold as well. It seems like the Star is in a big dilemma in selecting his next project. Currently, in Bollywood only stars are pulling the numbers and even those films must carry the buzz to pull audiences towards the theaters.

Even Shahrukh Khan’s previous film, Dunki was affected because of zero buzz. Recently, Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha aand Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 were also impacted with the same reason. So Shahrukh Khan wants to set a film that will get immediate craze.

Filmfare Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in India with top actors and filmmakers vying for the honours. Recently Filmfare Awards 2023 were given out and Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Actor award while Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress award. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail won the best film award for 2023.

These awards, just like every year left some mixed reactions with fans of every star feeling their favourite was left out. The Best Actor award also received some criticism where Shahrukh Khan fans felt the Bollywood King deserved to win instead of Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir’s co-star in Animal Rashmika Mandanna delivered her career-best performance in Animal undoubtedly she got all appreciation after Ranbir Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in the film. The role was quite challenging and demanded great emotional range from the actress and she did great.

On the other hand, many felt Alia Bhatt who won Best Actress Award for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Kahani was not a deserving one as it wasn’t a challenging role and there was no scope for great performance. It was a rom-com entertainer and Alia won the award and Rashmika was not even nominated and this has reportedly disappointed her very much.

Awards are a vital part of every actor’s career. And it is right on their part to expect it when they deliver their career-best performance. It happens very rarely that actresses get strong characters in commercial films and not getting recognition for that is certainly disappointing.

February sees all films postponing their release dates

February sees all films postponing their release dates. The Telugu film will have multiple new films in February. Although there are only medium and low-budget films available for release, they still have potential at the box office. However, there is a strange similarity in these films. February sees all films postponing their release dates.

At first, Tillu Square (Most awaited sequel) Varun Tej’s Operation Valentine Gopichand’s Bhimaa, Sundeep Kishan’s Ooru Peru Bhairavakona, and Harsha Chemudu’s Sundara Master announced the release dates.

Tillu Square has been postponed from 9th February to 30th March. Varun Tej’s Operation Valentine was supposed to come on 16th February, but now it has been shifted to 23rd Feb / 1st March. Ooru Peru Bhairavakona has been postponed from 9th February to 16th February.

Gopichand’s Bhimaa was slated to be released on 16th February, and now it is shifted to 8th March. Sundaram M has postponed its release by a week to 23rd February from 16th February.

All the above-mentioned movies have postponed the release dates due to various reasons. It is interesting to note that Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam and Ravi Teja’s Eagle, which are coming on next week, were supposed to be released on Sankranthi period.

Keeping the postponements aside, all the films which are getting released in February have the potential to impress Telugu people at their own level. Since Sankranthi, there haven’t been any noteworthy releases in Telugu, so if these films can fill the gap, there is a good potential here.

Rajinikanth’s film lacks buzz

When a film features the topmost star of an industry, it will naturally create a massive buzz. And when that star happens to be Superstar Rajinikanth then the hype and anticipation can be felt across multiple states. Rajinikanth starter Lal Salaam is slated to release next week and there is an extremely low buzz about the film.

While it is true that the Superstar will be seen in a role that’s more of an extended cameo, still the absolute low hype about Lal Salaam is shocking. Rajinikanth made a massive comeback with Jailer after continuous failures last year. Jailer emerges as the biggest South Indian grosser of 2023.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth is directing this film which stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in key roles and there is little buzz about it in Tamil Nadu as well as Telugu states. It seems like promotional content has not worked and the audience has shown little interest in watching Rajinikanth’s cameo. 

The film’s success now highly depends on word of mouth and reviews. If the initial talk is positive and Rajini’s cameo works out well, then it can certainly post good numbers. But at this moment looking at the trends and buzz, the film will not have a big start at the box office

Gaddar Awards replace Nandi Awards

Gaddar Awards replace Nandi Awards. It is widely known that in the Telugu film industry, the well-respected Nandi Awards have not been given in a few years. In Telangana, the distribution of these awards was delayed after the state was divided. It seemed like everyone had forgotten about these awards.

The Nandi Awards in the state will be replaced with the ‘Gaddar Awards’ by the government, as stated by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. In a public event, Revanth stated that the awards will be given in remembrance of the well-known revolutionary singer Gaddar. Gaddar Awards replace Nandi Awards.

Soon, the government will pass a GO. These awards will be given every year on January 31 for Gaddar Jayanthi, as per Revanth’s statement.

It is widely known that the Telugu film industry’s bigwigs and 24 crafts’ representatives had a formal meeting with the new chief minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy. Let’s hope that with the commencement of Gaddar Awards, a healthy relationship between government and industry will cherish from now on.
