Fighter outshines Operation Valentine

Two films released recently with the same theme and concept. One was Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan and the other one was Operation Valentine starring Varun Tej. Both dealt with pulling off some missions in the Indian Air Force.

Fighter saw a decent opening at the box office thanks to the star power of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. Operation Valentine on the other hand became a box office failure for Varun Tej with negligible collections. Varun Tej who was on a failure spree continued the same again. Both films arrived on the OTT platforms also. Now the Telugu Audiences feel that Fighter is way better than Operation Valentine. Operation Valentine is facing the same word of mouth even in the OTT segment. But Fighter somehow managed to grab decent to good reviews from the OTT audiences.

Fighter is streaming on Netflix and Operation Valentine on Amazon Prime Video. On the work front, Hrithik Roshan is currently working for War 2 directed by Siddarth Anand alongside Telugu Actor NTR. NTR makes his Bollywood debut with this film. Varun Tej will be working on a film called Matka directed by Palasa Fame, Karuna Kumar which was launched recently as well. Meenakshi Chaudhary is the female lead in the film.

Bollywood King Khan Shah Rukh Khan was spotted yesterday smoking a cigarette in the IPL match. Shah Rukh Khan is the co-owner of the team franchise of Kolkata Knight Riders which is also called KKR. The Actor often attends the matches played by KKR at the stadium. Now he got stuck in a controversy. He is spotted smoking a cigarette amid the match. This has led to a backlash from the fans and audiences.

Kolkata Knight Riders were facing off Sun Risers Hyderabad yesterday at the most prestigious Eden Gardens cricket stadium in Kolkata. Both teams were testing their luck for their first win. Shah Rukh Khan was also present and he started smoking a cigarette to everyone’s surprise. He didn’t even bother about the cameras recording him doing that. This has struck everyone’s attention.

Many people started questioning his irresponsibility for endorsing cigarette smoking openly. They even felt it was not right for a star of his range to do that. Shah Rukh Khan earlier once triggered a controversy during a match against Mumbai Indians when he indulged in a fight with the staff of the stadium. He was even banned for that act. However, he has to respond to the issue. On the work front, he is currently enjoying the success of his blockbuster Jawaan directed by Atlee.

Sensational start for The Goat Life at the box office

Malayalam film, The Goat Life also titled Aadu Jeevitham has opened to a sensational start at the box office. The film stars Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. The music of the film is composed by Oscar Award Winning A.R. Rahman. The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name of film, Aadu Jeevitham. Amala Paul played a crucial role in the film.

The film was made on a budget of 80 crores. The lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran did aggressive promotions for the film which has helped the film gain a positive buzz in a big way. In his home state, Kerala, the advance bookings for the film are said to have crossed 1 crore gross and are set to have a massive opening. The advance bookings in the overseas market too have started very strong.

The Goat Life is all set to become Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s best opening film. The film will have decent openings in the other languages of the country as well. Prithviraj has established himself as a Pan India star with his films, Ayyappanum Koshiyum and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. Both have earned him a great name throughout the country.

Dhruva Natchatiram: Yet another postponement

Director Gautam Menon and Actor Vikram’s film, Dhruva Natchathiram is facing yet another postponement. The film which started years ago is still looking at the release date in a bizarre state. Many technicians got changed in the middle. Even the lead heroine of the film was changed in the middle of shooting. The film was originally planned with Aishwarya Rajesh who was later replaced by Ritu Varma. It is also officially planned as two parts now with the prequel titled Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam.

The film is an action entertainer majorly shot in foreign locations. Director Gautam Menon also happens to be the producer of the film. His financial issues have affected the film’s release dates several times. The makers announced that all the issues were solved and the film would be released in the theatres in November last year. But it remained the same story. The film faced another postponement. Recently again, the team was confident of releasing it on 28th March and the same was informed to the distributors.

But the bad news is the film is about to face another postponement. The new date now announced is said to be 11th April this year. It needs to be seen how the team would stick to their word and end this postponement saga of Dhruva Natchathiram. Fans and audiences have been waiting for the film’s release for years. Hope the team finalizes the release date now.

Pawan Kalyan and Director Sujeeth’s film, They Call Him OG’s shooting has been happening for a long time. Pawan Kalyan is busy currently with his political planning and tours. He is also simultaneously working for Harish Shankar’s directorial Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Krish’s periodical film, Hari Hara Veera Mallu. The teaser of Ustaad Bhagat Singh was released recently.

Pawan Kalyan is said to be showing much interest in OG and he already allotted dates for the film. He worked for the film in parts and is all set to join the shooting this May. May 13 marks the election date of AP where his party is contesting for the elections. He will immediately join the shooting after the conclusion of the election.

Sujeeth on the other hand had committed to other films as well. He is presently working with Nani and the film has been officially announced recently. Sujeeth has also planned for some locations to shoot OG. He posted a picture on Instagram today where he was on location scout for some action episodes for OG. OG will be released on 27th September this year. The film’s glimpse was also released where Pawan Kalyan is presented as a Mumbai-based don. Priyanka Mohan plays a crucial role in the film. Bollywood Actor Emraan Hashmi was also brought on board for the film.

Jayam Ravi Exits Kamal Hassan’s Thug Life

Following the success of the Ponniyan Selvan series, Mani Rathnam has joined hands with ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Hassan after 25 long years. Titled ‘Thug Life’, it is touted as a high-octane action drama film with an ensemble cast of Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, and Trisha. A. R. Rahman’s usual choice is to compose the film’s background score and songs.

While fans and audiences are excited for this Nayakan (1987) combo to take shape, the odds have not been in their favour in recent times. Dulquer Salmaan has exited the project, citing date issues, and Simbu is reportedly roped in as a replacement. Now the latest buzz is that even Jayam Ravi has opted out of the film, stating similar reasons. Both Ravi and Dulquer are reportedly offered meaty roles in the film, and their exit is a massive blow for the makers.

On the other hand, the film’s production has been put on hold by Kamal Hassan, who is also co-producing the film, due to the ongoing election season; the shoot is expected to resume in May 2024.

As we all know, Manchu Vishnu has been elected as the president of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), a non-profit organisation based in Film Nagar, Hyderabad. The primary objective of MAA is to look after the well-being of artists and producers in Telugu cinema, aka Tollywood.

As a part of his job, Vishnu addressed the media and answered a string of questions posed on behalf of MAA. He began by talking about Allu Arjun becoming the first and only Telugu actor to grab the ‘Best Actor Male’ award at the prestigious National Awards, the unparallelled craze of Prabhas and Rajamouli across the country. However, he created a stir among netizens for his comments on ‘Mega Star’ Chiranjeevi.

While speaking highly about the legendary actor who was awarded a well-deserved Padma Vibhushan, Vishnu stated that Chiranjeevi is the first actor from Telugu to achieve this honor. This did not go well with netizens since Akkineni Nageshwara Rao was the first actor to do so and not Chiranjeevi. In fact, ANR is one of the very few people from the Telugu film fraternity to receive the ‘Dada Sahed Phalke Award’, India’s highest award in the field of cinema.

Global Star Tag: A burden for Ram Charan

Tags for Film Stars are common in Tollywood. There are many such titles for all the big stars. Ram Charan used to be called Mega Power Star. This title is reference to both his father Mega Star Chiranjeevi and his Uncle Powerstar Pawan Kalyan. Now it seems he and fans left the title. He is now being called Global Star. This could become a burden for Ram Charan as well.

Ram Charan starred in Rajamouli directorial, RRR which became a global phenomenon with the film doing well in International markets and the film even bagged the reputed Oscar Award for Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. Fans and especially Mega Family fans have started calling Ram Charan as Global Star after these incidents.

With this title, Ram Charan may face issues regarding his film glamour. We have seen his immediate release after RRR, Acharya becoming a big disaster. There will be questions regarding his stardom if films become disappointments. The title then would become a big burden to hold for being called as a Global Star. So he and fans must not concentrate much on the title and take care of the films. Currently he is working for the much awaited Shankar directorial, Game Changer.

Allu Arjun became the first actor from Telugu Film Industry to win the National Award for Best Actor. He won this award for his stellar performance in much hyped Pan India blockbuster Pushpa: The Rule. The film was directed by Sukumar and the music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Mannerisms and songs of the film became a Pan India sensation where many celebrities were spotted imitating the mannerisms shown in the film.

Fans and Audiences went crazy when the award was announced to Allu Arjun. No other actor managed to get this award in this category. Even Prabhas didn’t get the award after the Pan India blockbuster Baahubali. People in the film Industry became tight lipped and there was no open appreciation given to Allu Arjun from big wigs. However, this has upset fans and some audiences. Veteran Tollywood Actor Murali Mohan is one among such people. He openly criticized the industry and the big wigs for not appreciating Allu Arjun.

Murali Mohan also said that the industry and its activities used to be very different in their days. He questioned why no one had come forward to appreciate Allu Arjun. He demanded that Allu Arjun must be felicitated for receiving the National Award. We need to see how other celebrities would react to his statement.
