Family Star trailer: Decent but not great

Family Star‘s trailer starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur released today to much excitement from the fans. The film is directed by Geetha Govindam fame P. Parasuram and produced by prestigious producer Dil Raju.

The trailer showed Vijay Devearkonda leading a normal middle-class life dealing with some family issues. The trailer also had two ladies playing crucial roles apart from Mrunal Thakur. It also revealed the villain role portrayed by Kannada Actor, Achyuth Kumar and Vijay taking him on and his gang. Both Vijay and Mrunal had their tough moments as well. The film is also made on a lavishing budget which is evident from the trailer.

However, the trailer didn’t reach the expectations of fans and audiences. The trailer also felt repetitive and felt the film didn’t suit Vijay Deverakonda. Fans expected much from the combo of Parasuram and Vijay who previously collaborated for Geetha Govindam. Lead Pair’s chemistry worked very well for that film, but the chemistry between Vijay and Mrunal Thakur is not as good as expected and it appears that something is missing. The film has to perform very well in order to become a blockbuster considering the budget spent and the pre-release biz. The team looks confident, so let’s see. Family Star is slated for release on 5th April.

Actress Anupama Parameswaran hurt by vulgar comments

Tillu Square starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Anupama Parameswaran is slated for release tomorrow 29th March. The film is a sequel to smashing hit, DJ Tillu. The first looks and the posters of the film saw the lead actress Anupama Parameswaran performing some intimate scenes. Many were shocked but Anupama showed restraint telling that it was her duty to act in films. But it seems Anupama Parameswaran is finally hurt by some vulgar comments.

The team released a poster involving the lead pair kissing each other and it also shows Anupama being very close to Siddhu Jonnalagadda. Many netizens posted some vulgar comments about Anupama’s proximity to Siddhu Jonnalagadda. This has hurt Anupama Parameswaran badly. She was upset and didn’t even attend the pre-release event which was held today. Lead actor, Siddhu Jonnalagadda clarified about the poster and her absence as well.

He said that Anupama was upset and he told her to stay away from the event. He also requested netizens and fans not to be harsh while making posts and comments regarding heroines. Siddhu also requested everyone to be within the limits and enjoy the film but not make personal comments and thereby trouble the actresses. The film’s trailer was released in the pre-release event today also.

Re-release Surprise: Orange Blockbuster, Magadheera Flop

The trend of re-releases threw some surprises with several highly anticipated Tollywood re-releases ending up as average to flop events. On the other hand, many of the films that were a failure during their initial theatrical release years ago turned out to be major blockbusters in their second innings. Orange is a classic case of the latter and it created several records during its re-entry to the theatres.

SS Rajamouli’s Magadheera on the other hand faced the exact opposite fate. This Ram Charan and Kajal Agarwal starter was an industry hit back in 2009 and broke all Tollywood records. Incidentally, right after Magadheera, Ram Charan’s Orange was released which was the biggest disaster for him at that time. It delivered huge losses to all involved parties. 

Orange, which was re-released for Charan’s birthday last year broke the record of Jalsa by collecting over 3.2 Crores gross + and registered extremely high occupancies everywhere. The massive demand for Orange led to an increase in the screen count as well and it emerged as a record-breaking re-release.

This year Ram Charan’s Magadheera was released and surprisingly the response is extremely poor. Excluding 2-3 fan shows, the occupancies are very dull. This is a disastrous response considering the blockbuster success of Magadheera back in 2009. The numbers are also extremely poor and so are the occupancies in every territory.

Tillu Square bookings: Falling short of expecations

It seems the books of Tillu Square, the much-awaited sequel of DJ Tillu are falling short of expectations. Everyone expected so much from the film. The business done was also for a massive price. The theatrical rights are valued at around 32 crores worldwide. This is a sensational number considering the range of the lead actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda. But the bookings are not that encouraging.

The advance bookings gross of the film in Hyderabad city is around 83 lakhs. This is a decent to good number but not expected for a crazy sequel. The holiday advantage too didn’t work here which is a bit disappointing. The trailer will be released today at the Pre-release event which starts at 6 PM. The trailer is expected to bring the much-needed change in the bookings.

Tillu Square’s first look and teasers created a good impact but these are not enough to make it as crazy as its prequel DJ Tillu. The USA bookings are also not so encouraging. Anupama Parameswaran stars opposite Siddhu Jonnalagadda as the female lead. Both the lead pair’s intimacy in the teaser and first-look posters became the talk of the town. The team is confident in these scenes as well. Let’s see how the film would fare.

The Goat Life’s Gulf release: What went wrong?

Gulf – UAE is the biggest overseas market for Mollywood. More than 3/4th of overseas revenue comes from these Gulf countries for the Malayalam Film Industry. But now, The Goat Life also titled Aadu Jeevitham starring Prithviraj is said to be releasing only in the UAE. It seems there is a delayed release in the other Gulf countries.

The Censor has been applied only in the UAE and it stands cleared but censor works are going on in other countries. There might be a one-week late release if the censor process is cleared. The team might be editing some content before going to the censor as the censor system in Gulf countries is way different.

On the other hand, The Goat Life has extraordinary advance bookings in the home state of Kerala. The bookings have already crossed the 3 crore gross mark. The overall worldwide booking gross is more than 5 crores. If all goes well and the film secures a positive word of mouth, it might see a double-digit opening worldwide as well. This is great news for the fans of Prithviraj. The Goat Life is slated to release tomorrow in the theatres. Its Telugu version is also releasing simultaneously.

Premalu and Manjummel Boys: Collections are Ten times bigger than the budget

Malayalam blockbusters Premalu and Manjummel Boys are ruling the roost at the theatres. Recently, the Malayam industry has become the talk of the Indian cinema industry as they delivered 3 continuous blockbusters with Bramayugam being the third one apart from Premalu and Manjummel Boys.

Malayalam film industry is known for delivering quality cinema in limited budgets and Premalu and Manjummel Boys once again re-affirmed this belief. Premalu’s budget is said to be less than 10 Cr and it has collected close to 125 Cr gross till now.

The film emerged as a massive hit in Malayalam and managed to run to superb occupancies and continuous audience love in both Kerala as well as Tamil Nadu. Set in Hyderabad, Premalu follows the life of two youngsters played by Nalsen and Mamitha and their dynamics and blossoming love.

Manjummel Boys is the current industry hit of Mollywood and was shot on less than 20 Cr budget and it has managed to collect close to 215 Cr gross. The Telugu version of Manjummel Boys is releasing on 6th of April and the makers are confident that Telugu version will achieve great success the same way Premalu Telugu version did.

Directed by Chidambaram, Manjummel Boys, the film revolves around a real-life incident and is a survival drama featuring a group of men from Ernakulam in Kerala. Sreenath Bhasi, Soubin Shahir, Ganapathi, Balu Varghese and Jean Paul Lal, among others, play prominent roles in the movie.

Both Premalu and Manjummel Boys have collected more than 10 times of their budgets. This is a phenomenal achievement and proof that quality content will certainly reach the audience.

Pawan Kalyan hails Ram Charan as a Globar Star

Today is Tollywood Actor Ram Charan’s birthday. Another Actor Pawan Kalyan, his uncle wished him through the X account of the Janasena Party. What was interesting was Pawan Kalyan hailing Ram Charan as a Globar Star in the press note.

Pawan Kalyan said that Ram Charan reached the range of a Globar Star by becoming a part of the film which won an Oscar Award in the Best Original Song category. He wished for good health and prosperity also. The Actor also expressed that Ram Charan is a very devotional and positive-thinking guy. Pawan Kalyan also wanted him to reach even greater heights.

Ram Charan is using the title Globar Star in place of his early tag Mega Power Star. The success of RRR internationally made him endorse this title to himself. His upcoming film posters also term him with this Globar Star title. Fans too started trending him with the name since RRR’s success internationally. On the work front, he is currently working for Game Changer directed by Shankar and produced by Dil Raju. Sreenu Vaitla is one of the most iconic Tollywood directors with several landmark films to his credit. Unfortunately, he is facing a low point in his career with his last film being Amar Akbar Anthony which released back in 2018. The film was a massive disaster and its been 6 years since Sreenu Vaitla released his film.

After a very long time, his film is going on set. Due to a string of failures, he continuously faced rejections. Even the much-awaited Dhee sequel was announced and shelved. Finally, Gopichand signed a project the movie went on floors some time back.

The film however faced some obstacles as after finishing a few portions, the producer Chitralayam Studios left the project as they felt the budget was going overboard and shooting was stopped. Now Chitralayam Studios is collaborating with People’s Media Factory and both are producing this film now.

Recently a sensational news has shocked everyone. Many police officers got arrested in a phone-tapping case in Telangana. These police officers are a part of SIB, Special Intelligence Bureau formed by the then Government led by KCR. This group’s primary duty was to investigate or identify the internal threats to the government.

But the news is the group allegedly tapped the phone numbers of many Industrialists and even Tollywood celebrities. This revelation has shocked everyone. Many politicians’ phone numbers are said to be tapped. Many actresses’ names have also come up regarding this phone tapping. There is speculation the then government used these celebrities and politicians for their own personal use. The investigation found that these celebrities and politicians paid money to the then government-in different ways. We need to see how this case turns out after the investigation is completed.

Recently there has been a change in the Government in Telangana. Congress Party led by Revanth Reddy came into power and has started investigating this case. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy too is alleged to be a victim in this phone-tapping issue. We have to wait and see how his government tackles this case and who gets imprisoned in the future.
