Manjummel Boys, the most talked-about Malayalam film in recent history, is performing exceedingly well in theatres, thrashing records one after another; it is already the No. 1 grosser and has emerged as an ‘Industry Hit’ of Mollywood. Even after raking in so much, the survival thriller is still going strong at the ticket window.
A couple of days ago, Manjummel Boys became the first and only Malayalam film to earn $1 million at the North American box office. Today, the film created yet another record, this time in the domestic market: it emerged as the first double-digit grosser (INR 10 crore) of Malayalam in the state of Karnataka.
In Tamil Nadu, it has had a dream run at the box office and is expected to mint INR 50 crore in its full run. Looking at the worldwide gross figures, Manjummel Boys will get past the INR 200 crore mark this week. What a phase for Malayalam cinema with two blockbusters in the same month!
