Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly is the Tamil debut of Telugu production house Mythri Movie Makers. Reportedly, Mythri was also bankrolling the star’s next. But the latest reports suggest that Mythri Movies is not backing Ajith’s next mega-budget film.
GBU is a box office success, and it is also the biggest career grosser for Ajith. So, everyone expected that the same combination would be repeated for Ak’s next film. But the Mankatha actor will work with Adhik, but not under Mythri Movies.
The movie’s production is said to be handled by Vels Production, and it will be made on a budget of 300 crore. The remuneration of Ajith Kumar will be more than half of the budget.
So, it is confirmed that Mythri Movies is not backing Ajith’s next mega-budget film, and it will go on floors this year in October, targeting a summer 2026 release.
Thalapathy Vijay has created a promising market in Telugu, and his films have consistently done well in recent years. But his last film, Jana Nayakudu prospects at the Telugu Box Office are looking weak.
The main reason for the low hype for Jana Nayagan in Telugu is that the film is a remake of Bhagavanth Kesari. Naturally, an audience will not be interested in watching the Telugu remake of a Tamil-dubbed film.
The team and the close circles say that the film is not a complete remake, and they have just taken the basic plot and a few scenes. But, still, Telugu audiences might not get excited for this film due to the remake factor.
Also, director H. Vinoth does not have any brand in Telugu audiences. The promotional content of the film, including today’s glimpse, did not work with Telugu audiences, and the film is releasing for Sannkranthi.
For Sankranthi, Chiranjeevi, Raviteja Film, and Sharwanand have lined up films, and there might be one more biggie ready to join the list. So, it will be tough for Thalapathy Vijay’s film to compete with them.
That is why Vijay’s Jana Nayakudu’s prospects at the Telugu box office are looking weak. So, the team needs to put in massive efforts to create the required buzz in Telugu.
Everyone knows that Jana Nayagan is the last film of Vijay, and this sentiment factor will work only in Tamil and not in Telugu.
After numerous postponements, Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu—Part 1: Sword vs. Spirit announced July 24th as the final release date. While there are some concerns about its business, Dulquer Salmaan acquires the Kerala rights of Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
Everyone knows about the multi-talented Dulquer. He is not only an actor but also has a production company, Wayfarer Films. The Lucky Bashkar actor will release Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu in Kerala.
Reportedly, the terms are said to be on a commission basis. This is definitely good news for the fans, as it hints that the trade deals for the film have started and a smooth release is on.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu Kerala rights bagged by Dulquer Salmaan
HHVM’s trailer update is expected to arrive this week, and the trailer will be released in July 1st week. The makers are putting in all the effort to not miss the 24th July release date, as it is the last probable good date for the film.
Kannappa, the mythological movie and the dream project of Manchu Vishnu, is all set to arrive in theaters in another 5 days. The reports of the film having a lengthy runtime raised concerns, but it is being said that Kannappa has adopted Kuberaa’s censor approach.
Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa, starring Dhanush and Nagarjuna, was released in theaters this Friday, and it is having a superb weekend at the box office. Before release, it was reported in the censor report that the social drama/thriller had 195 minutes of runtime.
Everyone was shocked after learning such a huge length, and then the makers said that they did not want any last-minute censor hurdles, and that is why they had to send the full content to the censor and trimmed the final version afterward.
Kuberaa, a movie trimmed by 14 minutes, has a final runtime of 181 minutes. Now, Manchu Vishnu’s Kannappa adopts Kuberaa’s censor approach.
Kannappa Movie: Huge Star Cast and Huge Runtime as well
Recently, the censor report of Kannappa was out, and everyone was surprised to see a 195-minute and 2-second runtime. But the news is that it is not the final runtime.
According to the reports, the producers have set the final runtime of the film at around 3 hours. The buzz around Kannappa has risen to a good level in recent days, and the film is expected to open with good numbers at the box office this Friday.
Phanindra Narsetti’s 8 Vasantalu, starring Ananthika Sanilkumar as the lead, created a decent buzz before the release. The makers promoted the film very well, but unfortunately, 8 Vasantalu becomes a box office disaster, as the release date backfires.
After two promising teasers, the film’s trailer cut spoiled the buzz, as the viewers felt it was too preachy of a movie, and also the release timing affected the film a lot.
8 Vasantalu gets mixed WOM and becomes a disaster at the box office
Mythri Movies’ 8 Vasanthalu released in theaters along with Kuberaa, and the latter has more buzz, and it opens with positive WOM, whereas the Phanindra Narsetti directorial opens with mixed WOM.
Because of the weak response, the film even failed to see minimum occupancies at the theaters. The good thing is, a section of the audience liked the film’s music and dialogues and gave good reviews.
Ananthika Sanilkumar’s 8 Vasantalu becomes a box office disaster, as the release date backfires. Everyone feels that if this romantic drama had been released on some other date, it could have gathered at least notable numbers.
Sir/Vaathi was the first bilingual actor of Dhanush, and he once again acted in a bilingual movie, Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula with Nagarjuna in a crucial role. Though the film received superb collections, Kuberaa’s Tamil version underperformed at the box office.
Rarely do we see day 2 being bigger than the opening day for a film, but Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa achieved it. The film sold 328K tickets on the BookMyShow ticketing app on the opening day, and it sold 339K tickets on the second day.
Overall, the day 2 collections of the film are 10% higher than the opening day. But the only concern for the film is the Tamil version’s box office performance. The film has to witness a 30-40% jump from day 1, as it received an average start.
However, the day 2 and day 3 jump for the Tamil version is minimal, and it is not happening in the expected range. So, despite having a superb weekend in theaters, Kuberaa’s Tamil version underperformed at the box office.
If the film sees good collections in Tamil like Telugu, then the weekend could have been much bigger. The trade expected a 50-50 contribution from Tamil and Telugu at the box office.
But as far as 2-day collections are concerned, 70% of the numbers are coming from Telugu and 30% from Tamil.
Everyone knows that Thalapathy Vijay, the big Tamil hero, entered politics, and he is retiring from films. Jana Nayagan is the last movie of Vijay as a hero, and the first glimpse was released today, for which Anirudh received heavy backlash.
On the occasion of Vijay’s birthday, the makers of the film, KVN Productions, released the “First Roar,” a glimpse to enthrall the fans. Naturally, it received a positive response, but the music director, Anirudh, received heavy backlash for Jana Nayagan’s BGM.
Vijay Shines in Jana Nayagan Teaser – But Anirudh fails to impress
It’s a known fact that Jana Nayakudu is a remake of Bhagavanth Kesari, and the film’s glimpse showed Vijay in a police getup, which hints that it is a part of the flashback portions.
If we remember Bhagavanth Kesari, Balakrishna also appears as a police officer in the flashback that comes in the second half. So, with the first glimpse, it is confirmed that Jana Nayagan is a remake.
Netizens Hail Thaman and Criticise Anirudh after Jana Nayagan’s First Glimpse Release
While Vijay’s looks/presentation, and cinematography are good in the glimpse of Jana Nayagan, it could have been much better if Anirudh’s BGM had matched the visuals.
The fans are extremely disappointed with Anirudh’s work, as they expected that he would give his best for Thalapathy Vijay. Also, a few netizens compared the Bhagavanth Kesari’s BGM and did edits of JN’s teaser with Thaman’s BGM.
Directed by H. Vinoth, who made films like ‘Theeran Adhigaram’ (Khaki) and ‘Thunivu,’ this film stars Vijay in the lead role, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Varalaxmi, Revathi, Mamitha Baiju, Narain, and Shruti Haasan in important roles. ‘Jana Nayagan’ is scheduled for a Pongal release in January 2026.
Manchu Vishnu’s Kannappa movie is set to arrive in theaters on June 27, 2025. The film’s pre-release event was held last night, and the latest news is that it has completed censor work. Kannappa’s runtime is 195 minutes.
The mythological film “Kannappa” has received a U/A censor certificate and a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes (195 minutes). The runtime was finalized after extensive editing. The censor report contains some crucial details about the film’s characters.
Even with some scenes edited for better flow, Prabhas remains in the film for 30 minutes, and Mohanlal features in a 15-minute cameo. The netizens are shocked as they learn that Manchu Vishnu’s Kannappa’s runtime is 195 minutes.
Kannappa’s Content needs to be solid with such a lengthy runtime
It remains to be seen whether this is the final runtime or the unit trims it further. With such a long runtime, the film needs to get positive reviews, or otherwise it will fail to attract audiences for such a lengthy runtime.
The film encountered controversy during the censoring process, prompting the censor board to respond to Brahmin objections about specific scenes. Reportedly, the censor board objected to 13 scenes, prompting the makers to remove them for certification.
After a superb first day at the box office, Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa performs well on the second day, and it is all set for a superb weekend. Kuberaa holds strong on Day 2 and crosses 50 crore worldwide.
In most areas, the film’s day 2 collections are bigger than day 1. The only concern is whether the Telugu version, which opened on a superb note, can manage with the same hold, or a decent jump is enough for it.
Kuberaa Box Office: Solid in Telugu – Average in Tamil
Whereas in Tamil, the film sees an average start, and it needs a bigger jump, but that is not happening as of now. The day 2 trend is similar to day 1, with a minimal jump, which is not enough for the film.
On opening day the film collected 27.5 Cr gross worldwide, and the day 2 estimates are around 23 Cr, which takes the film into the 50 Cr club. Day 3 is also expected to collect more than 20 Cr.
Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa holds strong on Day 2 and crosses 50 crore worldwide. The advances for day 3 are better than day 2, which is a positive sign.
