NEEK Lands on Prime Video, But Fans Are Disappointed

Dhanush’s third directorial effort, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK), a youthful romantic comedy, is now available to view on Amazon Prime Video. The film, which starred Pavish Narayan, Anikha Surendran, Mathew Thomas, and Priya Prakash Varrier, garnered excellent reviews during its theatrical run.

However, Telugu audiences are unhappy because the highly awaited dubbed version, Jabilamma Neeku Antha Kopama, has yet to be uploaded on the site. Currently, only the Tamil version is available, frustrating Telugu viewers who wanted to visit the film. While speculation is that the Telugu version will be released over the weekend, there has been no official confirmation.

Pelli Kani Prasad is the latest entertainer featuring actors Sapthagiri and Priyanka Sharma in the lead roles. The makers did a lot of promotional activities for the film, and the hero also looked confident about the film. Let’s find out whether the confidence worked or not.

Story:

At 36, Prasad is still not married. Prasad’s father insists on a strange tradition, demanding two crores in dowry before marrying off his son. Prasad arrives in India, falls for Priya, and marries her without dowry or his father’s consent.

That’s where Prasad’s issues start. Priya and her family aim to move abroad, which is why she deceives him. What occurs when Prasad learns this? Why did Prasad come back to India? The narrative focuses on how their relationship advances.

Performances:

In the past, Saptagiri acted in these types of characters and sought he tried his best to make the film entertaining. But, he was successful only in some scenes. Priyanka Sharma shines in some scenes but feels awkward in others. Muralidhar Goud is just okay in the character of hero’s father. The concept of ‘Katnam Shasanala Grandham’ is ineffective. The performances of Vadlamani Srinivas, Pramodini, Annapurnamma, and Panodu Basha caused some laughs but also irritation due to overacting.

Analysis:

Abhilash Reddy directed a comedy film that included a social message. The heroine and her family dream of marrying an NRI and moving abroad. The story centers on the family’s humorous greed.

The opening scenes in Malaysia seem bland, with humor emerging only in the village. The interval episode succeeds after some decent scenes. The moments when Prasad realizes his wife, mother-in-law, and family’s true nature are impactful.

The second half lacks engaging twists. The hero’s reasons for avoiding Malaysia aren’t convincing, and the heroine’s family’s sudden change at the climax feels forced. The Love/Emotional track between the lead pair is poorly handled in the film.

Officer On Duty Movie Review: A Decent Crime Investigation Thriller

Kunchacko Boban, one of the popular stars in Malayalam cinema, appeared in a new crime thriller called Officer on Duty, featuring Priyamani as the main female character. The movie was released in Malayalam on February 20 and has also recently been dubbed in Telugu under the same name. It is now streaming on OTT. Please read our review to find out how it has been shaped.

Story:

Suspended Circle Inspector Hari Shankar, played by Kunchacko Boban, is back on the job after a suspension. His tough personality often causes friction with his coworkers. On his first day back, he is given a case involving a stolen gold chain. As he digs deeper, he discovers connections between the theft, a girl’s tragic death, and a police officer’s suicide in Bengaluru.

As Hari investigates, he faces accusations from the girl’s father, who holds him responsible for her death. What led the girl to take such a drastic step? Could it be tied to Hari’s own painful past? Who is behind these terrible events? The story unfolds as Hari works to solve the mystery and catch the culprits.

Performances:

Kunchacko Boban gives one of his best performances in the character of Hari Shankar. He showed the intensity/aggression in action and emotional moments as well. Priyamani convincingly plays her part. Vishakh Nair and other actors who played the villain roles are good.

Analysis:

Director Jithu Ashraf starts the film with a compelling plot and an interesting arc for the lead character. The gradual unveiling of Hari’s struggles is particularly striking. Many scenes in the film are skillfully crafted and filled with tension and suspense. The action sequences between the hero and villains are also engaging, though they are too violent.

However, after creating the intrigue in the first half, the narration fails to maintain the momentum in the latter half. The game between the villains and the hero could have been stronger. The actions of the criminal gang members (Drug addicts) appear silly. Also, the backstory/revenge plot that connects all the dots is pretty much predictable.

But, still, the emotional struggle of the Hero makes the climax work, and the ending scene is also impressive.

Officer on Duty: A gripping Malayalam Thriller streaming in Telugu, must watch

Mollywood is continuously delivering good thrillers and the latest entrant in the list is Officer on Duty starring Kunchacko Boban and Priyamani. The film released in the theatres on 20th February and emerged as a big Blockbuster collecting more than 50 crores gross.

Officer on Duty is now streaming on Netflix in all the languages including Telugu. The film is a very interesting thriller from beginning to end. It is a thriller between a Police Officer and a Gang of drug addicts. The film starts with multiple dots at the beginning and every dot is connected in the second half in an engaging way with extraordinary performances from all the characters.

It is surely worth watching on the OTT and is highly recommended. Mollywood, as said, has been delivering quality films especially thrillers within a very reasonable budget.
