Romanchakam, the latest romantic comedy, is produced by Bhadrakali Pictures, the banner of Sandeep Vanga and Pranay Reddy Vanga. The film received decent hype with its posters and promos. Here’s our Romanchakam review to see how well it delivers on its promises.
Story
Anvesh, played by Sumanth Prabhas, is a young engineering graduate who dreams of launching his own dating app startup rather than working a conventional job. He falls in love with Maithili (Ananthika Sanilkumar), whom he meets through the very dating platform he is building. The rest of the story follows how their romance develops and what challenges it faces along the way.
Romanchakam Performances
Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar play the leads in Romanchakam. They look good as a pair and share decent chemistry. However, they don’t get much scope to showcase their acting skills, and their performances remain adequate.
Venkatesh Kakumanu, Narendra Ravi, Mani Aegurla, and Sai Sohan appear as friends who bring the laughs. Narendra Ravi, who impressed in his debut The Great Pre-Wedding Show, dominates everyone with his comic timing and scene presence. Upendra Limaye appears in a couple of fun sequences, while others deliver okay performances.
Analysis
Director Venu Gopal Reddy attempted to blend a love story with a Gen Z touch and buddy comedy elements. The film starts on an ordinary note. The romantic developments between the lead pair feel underwhelming from the beginning.
The scenes showing them getting closer through an online app could have been executed much better. There’s also an unnecessary pub song that drags the narrative down. Still, the comedy scenes involving the hero’s friends keep things moving at a decent pace.
The scenes leading to the interval are hilarious and engaging. The second half also has several well-crafted fun moments. Upendra Limaye’s entry adds more entertainment value to the proceedings.
While Venu Gopal Reddy failed to give the intended depth to the love story near the pre-climax, and the hero’s emotional scene doesn’t land as intended, he wraps up the film with a strong comedy episode near the climax. This sequence also features an exciting cameo that elevates the entertainment quotient.
The serious scenes in the second half and the overall love track between the lead pair needed to be much stronger. That said, Romanchakam scores well in the comedy department. Similar to Sumanth Prabhas‘s earlier film Godari Gattupaina, this movie relies heavily on its lighter moments to carry the narrative forward.

Romanchakam Review: Final Verdict
Romanchakam is a timepass entertainer that works if you overlook its flaws. The comedy delivers in both halves, with the pre-interval and interval sequences offering genuine laughs. A couple of episodes featuring Upendra Limaye stand out in the second half, and the climax brings a satisfying close with an unexpected cameo.
Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar look good together and share decent chemistry. Unfortunately, their love track needed much stronger writing and emotional depth. The film works primarily as a comedy rather than a balanced romantic comedy.
Overall, Romanchakam offers some good laughs and entertaining moments, but it falls short as a complete romantic comedy package. Watch it for the comedy, not the romance.
