No 100 Crore Opening For Vettaiyan!

Till date, only two films of Tamil cinema have managed to mint a worldwide gross of INR 100 crore on their first day of theatrical release: Leo and The Greatest Of All Time. Yes, no other star apart from ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay has done it.

Now that Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan is gearing up for release, experts predicted it to join this elite club. But sadly, it is not happening. Owing to its genre, the film’s advance bookings are quite ordinary worldwide.

Vettaiyan might mint a gross of INR 20 crore from Tamil Nadu; at the overseas belt, the numbers are likely to be around $4 million. With that being said, this action drama’s first-day worldwide figure will be around INR 70-75 crore. Clearly, there’s absolutely no way this T. J. Gnanawel’s action drama can enter the 100-Crore-Openers Club. It must be seen if Suriya’s Kanguva would get past this line.

Swag Stumbles – Heading Towards A Flop!

Sree Vishnu’s recent theatrical release Swag (2024) has had a mixed-to-positive reception upon release. This is the actor’s second collaboration with writer-director Hasith Goli after the blockbuster Raja Raja Chora (2021).

Needless to say, Swag is an experimental film, implying that the probability of it emerging as a hit is wafer-thin. In spite of few positive reviews it garnered, the film has had a disappointing weekend with a gross of a mere INR 7 crore.

From today, the numbers are likely to be quite minimal. In simpler terms, this film from T. G. Vishwa Prasad’s People Media Factory is yet another box-office failure after Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan (2024). Ritu Varma and Meera Jasmine are the female leads of Swag. Stay tuned for more updates.

Devara hits breakeven in Telugu

Devara starring NTR is having a great run at the box office stunning all trade analysts. Devara’s Telugu version theatrical rights are valued at 160 crores and the film has achieved breakeven mark yesterday. Now, with this, Rajamouli’s curse has been broken by Devara becoming a clean hit. Devara has witnessed a big jump on yesterday and registered big housefulls in Telugu States.

The film will definitely have a rampage in the next weekend with Dussehra holidays lined up. Next weekend’s numbers will be bigger than this weekend’s numbers. Telugu version’s full run is also expected to go in the range of 180 crores. But Devara has utterly failed in Tamil version. Kerala it’s a own release, but the numbers are very minimal. Karnataka’s performance was good for the film whereas Hindi being the relief. By today, Hindi version’s nett go near 50 crores.

Another 10 crores is all that the film needs to achieve the breakeven mark in Hindi market. Overall, Devara is a commercial success worldwide. The worldwide gross has also crossed 365 crores and the film is heading towards the 400 crore mark.

In the current times where digital content has become huge, people are finding quality content in the comfort of their homes.

Considering this logic, one might guess that only films with mind-blowing content would fare well at the box office. But in reality, the opposite is happening. Telugu audiences are flocking to theaters in big numbers to watch strictly average films. Devara: Part One, the most recent film of Jr. NTR, is an another example of it. Excluding RRR, from Temper to Devara, NTR has delivered watchable to decent films, but they were not complete blockbusters. Still, they delivered good numbers at the box office

This year film Mahesh Babu-Trivikram’s Guntur Kaaram, which opened to disastrous responses from audiences, still managed to collect a worldwide share of INR 100 crore. All recent films of Mahesh Babu which opens with mixed reviews posts very good numbers at Box office

Prabhas’s Saaho and Adipurush, which opened with a complete disaster WOM, still posted very good numbers for the weekend. Even Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD are not completely unanimous positive WOM films. Still, they emerge as one of the biggest grossers in Indian cinema.

Producer Slams Prakash Raj as a Fraud

Actor Prakash Raj is always be on news headlines for his actions and political stand. Today, producer Vinod Kumar has accused the actor of incurring him a Rs 1 crore loss and allegedly abandoning the set without alerting the crew. Prakash Raj recently uploaded a photo of himself with Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu’s newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister. Along with him, the image included MK Stalin, Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, and Udhayanidhi’s father. The actor captioned the picture, “With a Deputy CM… #justasking.”

Producer Vinod Kumar reacted to this post, calling out the actor.”The other three people sitting with you have won elections, but you have lost the deposit; there is the difference. You lost one crore on my shooting set by leaving the caravan without alerting us! What was the motive? I’m just asking!!! “You promised to call me, but you didn’t!!” he stated.

Kumar posted another tweet in which he recalled the incident. He said, “This occurred on October 30th, 2024. The whole cast and crew were startled. Almost 1000 junior artists. His schedule consisted of four days. Prakash Raj left the caravan after getting a call from another production! He abandoned us and didn’t know what to do!! We had to suspend the schedule, which resulted in a significant loss. This post has generated a lot of discussion in the midst of Prakash Raj’s verbal online war with Pawan Kalyan.

Prakash Raj criticises Pawan Kalyan again

Actor Prakash Raj has been criticising Tollywood Actor Pawan Kalyan ever since the latter had started talking about the Laddu controversy in Tirupati Temple in AP. Pawan Kalyan gave a strong counter to Prakash Raj for speaking casually about this issue and then Prakash Raj started pulling the leg of Pawan Kalyan on twitter. Jani Master National Award cancelled

Tollywood Dance Master Jani Master involved in a big controversy recently. The dance choreographer was alleged to have sexually assaulted a female dance choreographer. He was instantly booked by police and imprisoned as well. Now, Jani Master’s National Award has been cancelled for the same reason.

Jani Master won the National Award for Best Choreography for Megam Karukkatha from Thiruchitrambalam. The song became very popular for its dance moves and composition of tune as well. But it will be only semi happiness for Jani Master as the award will no longer be with him. Alongwith this, he was already removed from the Tollywood Dance Choreographer’s body.

He is currently out on bail now. We need to see if he would come out and speak something about the issue. Going by these incidents, he may not get any opportunities anymore from Tollywood. He is also an active member of Janasena party run by Tollywood Actor, Pawan Kalyan. Jani Master was also suspended from the membership of Janasena Party as well. So, he will have to deal with the case for some period.
