However surprising it may seem, Vijay’s sci-fi drama The Greatest Of All Time, in spite of the negative reviews from critics, has emerged as a ‘hit’ in most territories. Particularly in the state of Tamil Nadu and overseas, the Venkat Prabhu-directorial has been highly profitable for buyers.

Even in Karnataka, the film achieved breakeven, thus leaving no losses to distributers. Admittedly, The GOAT is a huge flop in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana) and Kerala. Here are the detailed figures of the film:

Vettaiyan Day 1 Advance Bookings – Good Start

‘Super Star’ Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan is hitting the big screens this Thursday. The film’s genre and the actor-director combination do not make it a regular commercial entertainer, thus implying that the makers are aiming for a long run and not openings.

Talking about the bookings, Vettaiyan has minted over INR 13 crore from pre-sales in India; 60% of them have come from the state of Tamil Nadu alone. In the overseas belt, the figure stands at $1.75 million. Overall, the film’s worldwide advance bookings stand at an impressive INR 28 crore.

Going by this trend, Vettaiyan’s first-day gross is expected to be over INR 70 crore. The film must collect over INR 350 crore worldwide to achieve breakeven and emerge as a profitable venture for buyers. Stay tuned for more updates.

Devara collections: 100 crore difference

Devara, latest film of NTR is rocking the box office like anything. Many websites including Track Tollywood and rest reported that the film has collected between 340-370 crores worldwide in 10 days. But the makers have announced officially with a poster that Devara has collected 466 crores gross in 10 days. This depitcts a 100 crore difference in the numbers tracked by websites.

With a film becoming a big hit, we definitely expect the makers to exaggerate the numbers for publicity. Other biggie films like Adipurush, Salaar, Guntur Kaaram and Kalki 2898 AD had exaggerated the numbers a bit and presented the numbers. Devara makers also continuing the same trend and definitely a 500 Cr poster will be out from the team this week.

Devara is performing well. After 2nd weekend, Yesterday the film holds very good note and posts respectable numbers. This week it will post big numbers due to the holiday advantage of Dussehra. The film is also expected to touch the 400 crore mark by then without a doubt.

Singham Again: Cop Universe meets Ramayana

Singham Again, the third installment of Bollywood film, Singham trailer has been released today. The trailer was nearly 5 minutes long and starred other Bollywood biggies, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor. The film was made as a Cop Universe by the Director Rohit Shetty from all his earlier films, Simmba and Sooryavanshi. He has also added the theme of Ramayana to the film interestingly.

Bollywood Actor, Arjun Kapoor is playing the baddie role in the film. He was also termed as the modern-age Raavana in the film. The film also follows with him kidnapping Kareena Kapoor and other stars coming in rescue of her. The film is completely filled with heavy action episodes and fun moments as well.

The trailer has been getting mixed response. Some liked the concept of Ramayana being used while someothers felt the Action part going overboard. Singham Again is scheduled for release on 1st November this year as Diwali release. Co-produced by both Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty the film has high expectations from fans and audiences. Rohit Shetty is also looking to establish big records with Singham Again.

Gopichand speaks about Ramabanam and Bhima

Tollywood Actor Gopichand is gearing up for his upcoming film, Viswam slated for release on 11th October. The film was directed by Sreenu Vaitla and the duo is aiming to give a big comeback. Gopichand took part in several interviews ahead of the film’s release. In an interview, Gopichand spoke about his previous flicks, Ramabanam and Bhima and their results at the box office as well. These comments appeared to be shocking.

Gopichand said that he knew about the result of both the films before the release. He said he knew Ramabanam would become a big flop and also added saying that he had put hopes on Bhima but a specific episode disappointed him. This episode made him realise the ill result of Bhima before the release itself. Both these films became box office disappointments last year.

Right from his early days, NTR has established Ceeded as his fort with tremendous success of films like Aadi and Simhadri. He is undoubtedly, no. 1 in this region and Devara has once again proven this strength. The film opens with a double-digit share in Ceeded, a non-RRR opening. Devara has recorded extremely strong collections right from its opening day in the Ceeded region.

Even yesterday’s numbers were excellent and collecting more than 1 crore on the 10th day is very huge. Overall, after 10 days, Devara has collected more than 22 Cr and already entered the Top 3 after RRR and Baahubali 2. It crossed all biggies Salaar, Kalki, and Baahubali 1 in just 10 days and is set to cross 25 Cr share this week.

This weekend will be much bigger due to Dasara weekend being a massive occasion. The NTR starrer has easy competition with films like Vettaiyan and Viswam which will definitely not have much impact amidst the Devara storm.

With the arrival of the OTT platforms, the dimensions of feature films have undergone many alterations. The satellite market in particular is on the verge of collapse since films are usually telecasted post-a film’s digital premiere.

Even big-budgeted pan-Indian films are garnering poor viewership due to their availability on streaming platforms online beforehand. Most recently, Jr. NTR’s Devara: Part One and Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD have had trouble finding satellite platforms.

This phenomenon is particularly significant for flop movies that have an early OTT release. This not only kills the theatrical footfalls but also leads to disastrous TRP ratings on television. This is one of the main reasons why a lot of big-budgeted films are being shelved after being officially announced.

No Solo Release For Kanguva (Telugu)

Suriya’s big-budgeted pan-Indian film Kanguva is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on November 14th this year. The makers chose this date with an aim to get a solo release across all five languages.

Looking at the current scenario, it is unlikely to happen. Varun Tej’s Matka, another pan-Inidan flick, is also headed for a release on the same date. Devaki Nanda Vasudev, a small-budget film of debutant Ashok Galla, is also arriving in the same time period.
