Criminal Case Lodged On Akkineni Nagarjuna!

For those unaware, veteran actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has filed a defamation case of INR 100 crore against Telangana minister Konda Surekha for her remarks on the former’s family. Multiple high-profile personalities of Telugu cinema have slammed the latter for her personal attack on Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya.

Looks like this issue has taken a new turn: as the title reads, Kasireddy Bhaskar Reddy, the owner of ‘Janam Kosam’ (an anti-corruption NGO), has filed a criminal case on Nagarjuna at Madhapur police station lately.

According to a reliable source, the case is linked to the alleged construction of N-Convention by the 65-year-old actor by illegally accupying the land of 1.12 acre of Tummidikunta Lake. Stay tuned for more updates regarding such issues.

Jr. NTR’s Devara Is A Disaster In Tamil!

Kortala Siva’s action drama Devara: Part One has joined the list of Telugu films that failed to crack the Tamil market. As the title reads, the Tamil version of the JR. NTR-starrer has emerged as a box-office bomb.

Devara’s Tamil version has made a business of INR 8 crore through theatrical rights. Despite the presence of Anirudh Ravichander, the film failed to strike a chord with the audiences there. Collecting a modest INR less than 4 crore share so far, it will reportedly leave a loss of INR 4 crore (including the publicity costs).

However, Devara is a profitable venture in its original Telugu version and Hindi, with the latter already grossing over INR 50 crore. Overall, the film registered a first-week worldwide gross of INR 328 crore, an excellent figure for any contemporary Indian film.

Tamil Actor Rajinikanth had a minor surgery recently. This news has shocked everyone as many were worried about his health status. It was also rumoured that the Actor had been injured or fell ill during the shoot of his upcoming film, Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. But Lokesh Kanagaraj has clarified this by saying that there was no truth about Rajinikanth’s fake health rumours.

The Director said that this surgery was a pre-planned one but not something that had happened during the shoot. He appealed the Youtubers to be responsible in delivering the news to the audience. The Director has assured of Rainikanth’s health as well during his interaction with the media. Rajinikanth will be taking some time and would join the shoot after some days.

Coolie is scheduled to release next year. The film also has an ensemble cast from various film Industries of the country. The film carries high expectations due to the combo of Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth.

A lawyer based in the city of Madurai has filed a criminal case against actor-politician Pawan Kalyan for his recent remarks on Udayanidhi Stalin, the honorable deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Without taking his name explicitly, Mr. Kalyan took a dig at Udayanidhi for comparing Sanatana Dharama with the diseases Dengue and Malaria. This did not go well with the ruling part of Tamil Nadu, i.e., DMK.

On the other hand, Rajini’s Vettaiyan, which is gearing up for release this Friday, has opened its advance bookings, and the numbers are no where close to those of The GOAT.

Minting over $1 million with pre-sales till date, Vettaiyan’s overseas opening is very likely to fall short of The GOAT; even in the domestic market, this action drama might register fewer numbers. This can be attributed to the poor buzz surrounding the film that is written and directed by T. J. Gnanawel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame.

Rajendra Prasad’s Daughter Passes Away!

Rajendra Prasad, a veteran actor of Telugu cinema best known for his comical roles both as a lead and supporting actor, has faced a major setback in his personal life lately. Married to Vijaya Chamundeshwari, he was blessed with a son, followed by a daughter.

As the title reads, Mr. Prasad’s daughter Gayathri (38), who was fighting heart-related issues in a private hospital in Hyderabad, breathed her last yesterday. Speaking about the same, the Telugu actor was emotional over this personal loss at a recent pre-release event.

Tollywood Failing to Conquer Tamil Nadu

For a long time, Tamil films are doing exceptionally well in Telugu. Even their normal commercial movies and small films register tremendous numbers at our box office. However, Tollywood films are struggling to achieve the same in Tamil Nadu. So far, Rajamouli films have made a considerable profit from this area. Other films, with the exception of one or two, failed to generate significant buzz at the Tamil box office. Many Tamil heroes are well-known in Telugu and have a good following here. However, our heroes in the Tamil industry do not face the same situation.

Tollywood movies are slowly conquering Bollywood with their films doing very well in Hindi markets, but they are failing terribly in Tamil. Films like Saaho, Salaar, Adipurush, Hanuman, and Now Devara went very well in Hindi markets, but all failed in Tamil Nadu. So far, apart from Rajamouli’s films, only Pushpa and Kalki have generated significant hype in the Tamil industry.

Even the current Telugu blockbuster Devara was purchased in Tamil Nadu for a modest price of 8 crore, and it has yet to recover even half of its rights. Whereas in Hindi, it has already crossed the 50 crore gross mark and is projected to perform well in the long run. Telugu films have established themselves in the Hindi film industry, but it is unclear when the same will occur in the Tamil film industry.

Vettaiyan: Sure Shot Blockbuster?

Music Director Anirudh Ravichander who has worked for Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth declared that the film will be a sure shot blockbuster. The Music Director tweeted about the film’s success in his usual way ahead of his film’s releases. Fans and Audience have become jubilated after watching his tweet.

Tollywood’s 1st week 300 crore grossers

Tollywoood films with a Pan India touch have been rocking the box office since Baahubali. Many films repeated the same success grossing many 100 crores shocking everyone. Devara now stands one among them. The film has grossed more than 300 crores worldwide in the first week of its release. Tollywood’s 1st week 300 crore grossers list is also given below.

Baahubali 2 has managed to gross nearly 825 crores in the first week followed by RRR with 700 crores, Kalki 2898 AD with 630 crores, Salaar with 460 crores, Saaho with 337 crores, Devara, the latest entrant film with 328 crores and Adipurush with 315 crores. This list can be seen dominated by both Directors SS Rajamouli and Actor Prabhas. No other film has made it to this list except Devara which is also a great achievement.

Devara is also on its way of grossing 400 crores by the end of the second weekend. Dussehra holidays may help the film post big numbers in that weekend. The film then eyes the reputed 500 crore mark to take a grand ending. Devara 2 will also have a great hype with this performance of Devara.

Daavudi song added theatrically in Devara

Devara starring NTR is running in the theatres with solid performance at the box office. The film has also grossed more than 300 crores worldwide till. The film had a total of 4 songs in its album. Among them was Daavudi which featured both NTR and Janhvi Kapoor grooving with their moves. The song also received good appreciation. But the makers have deleted the song from the film for a crisp runtime. But, Daavudi is now added theatrically in Devara.

The film’s actual runtime was close to 3 hours. But the makers, as said have decided to go with a crisp runtime and chopped the film by 15 minutes and brought it to 2 hours and 43 minutes. Daavudi was also one of the things which went into chopping. As the film performed beyond expectations, makers have decided to add the song. It may also draw some audience to the theatres.

Devara is also on course to touching the 400 crores worldwide by the next weekend. Dussehra holidays will add as a big advantage to achieve this feat. The film also stood at 7th spot in terms of highest grossing films in the first week of Tollywood.
