Released on September 25, OG, Pawan Kalyan’s action drama, is performing exceptionally well at the overseas box office, and its 1st weekend area-wise collections are extraordinary.

North America $5M
UK and Ireland: $474K
Middle East: $435K

Singapore $48K
New Zealand $22K

Pawan Kalyan’s OG’s total overseas collections for the 1st weekend stand approximately at $6.61M (₹59 crores), which means it is a huge blockbuster.

The film will easily do 7.5M+ in its full run, and if it holds good, it can even go near 8 million as well.

Directed by Sujeeth, the action drama also showed some decent hold in Andhra Pradesh on its day 5, and lately, the ticket hikes in Nizam have been cancelled by the high court, which will in return help the film’s footfalls.

US Tariff Shock: Telugu Films in Production Hit Hard

0

The Telugu films, especially those that are upcoming and in production, will be facing a new problem as US President Trump announced a 100% tariff on any and all movies made outside the United States.

The U.S. is a significant market for Telugu cinema, and this new rule of 100% tariff by Trump will deliver a big blow to the industry, especially for films that are already in production and shooting.

Already the ticket hikes in Telangana are in doubt for the near future films, and now this US Tariff is another shock for the Telugu filmmakers.

Indians account for about 1.6% of the U.S. population, and other South Asians like Pakistanis and Bangladeshis also enjoy Indian language films, along with locals who appreciate a diverse range of movies.

Lokah Breaks KGF-2 In Middle East

0

The latest sensational blockbuster from the Malayalam industry, Lokah, is still smashing records at the box office. Lately, the female superhero has broken the KGF-2 record in the Middle East.

Biggest South Indian Middle East Grossers:

Baahubali2 – $10.31M
Empuraan – $9.72M
Lokah – $8.294M* (32 days)
KGF Chapter 2 – $8.15M
Thudarum – $6.95M

The Middle East is the biggest territory for Mollywood overseas and Lokah has smashed the KGF-2 record in this territory.

If we see the overall overseas numbers, Lokah has collected $13.3M (118 Cr), with a worldwide gross of 288.5 Cr for 32 days.

From day 1 till date, the phenomenal box office performance of Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra has surprised each and everyone. It has to be one of the most sensational theatrical runs for any Indian film.

OG Movie Ticket Hike Cancelled in Telangana

0

The Government of Telangana has officially cancelled the special ticket hike permissions for Pawan Kalyan’s OG. As per the latest memo issued by the Hyderabad City Police and the Home Department, the film will now continue with regular ticket prices as per the old government order.

This decision follows the Hon’ble High Court’s orders dated 26-09-2025 in W.P. No. 29214/2025. The government allowed premieres on 24th September with an 800 Rs and 100 Rs hike in single screens and a 150 Rs hike in multiplex screens for 10 days.

However, a lawyer named Mallesh Yadav filed a petition against hikes for Pawan Kalyan’s OG movie, for which the high court ordered to cancel the hikes.

While this move may seem sudden, it actually works in favor of OG, since the weekend rush is now over and regular pricing will help maintain steady footfall during weekdays.

However, this decision is expected to affect future big films. With special shows and ticket hikes now unlikely, upcoming films may have to rely more on content and timing rather than premium pricing strategies.

The industry will be watching closely to see how the high court’s decision influences box office trends in the coming months.

Lokah 32 Days Box Office: Nears 300 Cr

0

The sensational blockbuster Lokah is still having a superb run at the box office, and it inches close to the 300 Cr benchmark after 32 days of theatrical run.

Lokah 32 Days Gross Collections

Kerala – 112 Cr
Tamil Nadu – 23 Cr
Telugu States- 14 Cr
Karnataka – 14 Cr
North India – 7.5 cr
Overseas – 118 Cr

Overall, for 32 days, Lokah has collected 288.5 Cr gross at the worldwide box office, and the movie is already an industry hit for the Malayalam film industry globally.

Over the weekend, the film achieved the title of the biggest Mollywood grosser at the Indian box office, surpassing the record previously held by Manjummel Boys.

The film needs 7 Cr gross in Kerala to beat the present highest grosser, Thudarum, and 12 Cr gross to reach the 300 Cr mark overall.

With this week being a holiday, the female superhero film is anticipated to hit both milestones.

Big Twist in The Raja Saab Tamil Release

0

Prabhas and Maruthi’s The Raja Saab faced multiple postponements and finally fixed the January 9th date for its theatrical release. Today, the film’s first trailer was released by the makers, and there is a big twist in the release date of Raja Saab’s Tamil version.

To maintain the film’s buzz among fans, the makers released the first trailer of The Raja Saab a while ago, and they also mentioned the release date officially as 9th January, 2026.

The Raja Saab: Tamil Release on January 10th

However, in the Tamil trailer, the release date is mentioned as 10th January, as the team wants to avoid a clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan on opening day itself, which is also scheduled to be released on 9th January.

This is probably the first of its kind for a big pan-India film, as one version is getting released on a date and the other version is getting released at a later date.

OG Smashes Into All-Time Top 10 in 5 Days

0

Pawan Kalyan’s OG scores 100 Cr share in the 1st weekend, and what’s exciting is that it crosses the huge benchmark in Telugu states with a 135 Cr+ share worldwide. With today, the film will surpass Sarileru Neekevvaru’s closing collections (138 Cr) and will enter into the all-time top 10.

Here are the details of the top 10 movie shares (only the Telugu version).

RRR – 366 Cr
Baahubali 2 – 310 Cr
Pushpa 2 – 302 Cr
Kalki 2898 AD – 290 Cr
Salaar – 213 Cr
Devara – 201 Cr
Baahubali—184 Cr
Ala Vaikunthapuuramulo – 159 Cr
Sankranthiki Vasthunam – 158 Cr
OG – 140 Cr* (Estimates for 5 days)

Till now, Pawan Kalyan did not have even one film that achieved 100 Cr share in its full run, but OG achieves it in the 1st weekend, just 5 days and enters the all-time top 10 list of the Telugu Film Industry.

The film needs to surpass Baahubali part 1’s worldwide share to achieve hit status at the box office, as breakeven is valued at 180 Cr. With the help of the Dasara festival holidays, it is very much possible.

Netflix Has to Make OG Big

0

Pawan Kalyan’s OG was released in theaters on September 25th in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. But the team did not put any effort into promoting the film in Tamil and Hindi, and it had a low-key release. Now, the film’s OTT partner, Netflix, will have to take OG’s reach to the next level.

The action drama did not release in national multiplex screens in North India due to the 4-week OTT deal. With all these, the film sees very negligible numbers from other languages, and all the numbers are coming from Telugu only.

In Telugu the movie is doing very well, and it posts 225 Cr+ gross in the 1st weekend alone, giving the much-needed comeback for Pawan Kalyan, and he showcases his stardom.

Both Sujeeth and Thaman officially stated that they are turning OG into a franchise, and the film will have a prequel and sequel. A franchise film needs to have a pan-India appeal, but OG missed the chance to get it in theaters due to all the reasons.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG can go bigger after OTT Release

But the film can turn the tables upon its digital release, as the popular digital platform Netflix bags OTT rights of OG, and the movie will stream on it in the last week of October. The movie needs to attract a massive viewership, and it has to create hype like a big franchise among all Indian audiences.

Then the next parts from OG will have a huge craze pan-India-wide, and the makers also can spend the budget according to the requirement and mount it on a huge scale.

Kantara Chapter 1: Triple-Digit Start Out of Reach

0

Kantara Chapter 1 is the big pan-India film that is all set to be released in theaters worldwide on October 2. The film has good hype among audiences and trade, but it is not a massive hype. That is why scoring a triple-digit opening looks out of reach for Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1.

Films like Baahubali, KGF, and Pushpa saw pan-India success at the box office, and all the sequels saw phenomenal openings in all areas. Kantara part one also sees a huge success, with its collections being bigger than KGF and Pushpa’s first parts.

But surprisingly, Kantara chapter 1 does not carry the expected craze in all languages, looking at the current trend, and that is why trade suspects the triple-digit opening for the film.

Let’s forget about setting the new benchmarks, but shockingly, the film opening with a 100 Cr start worldwide also looks tough. Advance bookings overseas have also begun on a disappointing note.

In Hindi, films like KGF 2, Pushpa 2, and Baahubali 2 all had a record opening, but for the Kantara prequel, the trade expectations are around 20 Cr – 25 Cr net, which is definitely not on par with the initial expectations.

In Karnataka bookings are good, while in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Rishab Shetty’s film is no match for KGF 2. The Telugu States bookings did not open, but even here, the film does not carry huge hype.

But definitely, the film has the genre advantage, and if the WOM comes positive, then the film will see a huge run and numbers in the full run. The team is confidently screening premieres on October 1 in all languages, trusting the quality of their content.

Hridayapoorvam Movie Review: A Pleasant Film with some Slow Moments

0

Movie: Hridayapoorvam
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast: Mohanlal, Malavika Mohanan, Sangita Madhavan Nair, Sangeeth Prtap, Siddiqui and others
Director: Sathyan Anthikad
Streaming On: Jio Hotstar

Mohanlal’s Hridayapooravam hit theaters during the Onam Festival and garnered positive reviews. Despite competing with the industry blockbuster Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra, the film managed an impressive 75 Cr gross at the box office. Now available on OTT via Jio Hotstar, let’s dive into what makes this film special in our review.

Story:

Mohanlal portrays Sandeep Balakrishnan, a super eligible bachelor in his middle years who operates a cloud kitchen. He gets a heart transplant as his health worsens. The heart comes from Ravindranath, an Indian Army colonel based in Pune. Zari (Sangeet Pratap) is appointed by the doctors as Sandeep’s caretaker.

In a heartfelt gesture, Haritha (Malavika Mohanan) invites Sandeep to Pune, fulfilling her father’s last desire. She stays with her mom, Devika (Sangita Madhavan Nair). The remainder of the story focuses on Sandeep’s experiences in Pune and how he expresses his thanks to Haritha and Devika.

Performances:

Mohanlal took his usual laid-back approach and totally pulled off the character. Malavika Mohanan nails her role, and Sangita Madhavan Nair really stands out with her charm and authentic performance. Sangeet Pratap and Siddique also make a good impression.

Analysis:

Sathyan Anthikad, the acclaimed director behind popular Malayalam films like Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Njan Prakashan, collaborates with Mohanlal for Hridayapoorvam.

The film opens with a perfectly crafted, slightly tense situation before introducing the lead character. It maintains a passable vibe for a while, but with Malavika Mohanan’s entry, the story transitions to Pune.

The interactions between Mohanlal, Malavika, and Sangita are engaging, with some fun moments standing out, like Mohanlal and Sangeet Pratap landing in the hospital. The hilarious scenes leading up to the interval are also entertaining. The second half shifts slightly towards an emotional tone at times, which works well.

However, the pace slows down in the latter half, with the proceedings feeling somewhat repetitive and stagnant. Additionally, some characters come across as unnecessary, such as the colonel’s friend played by Lalu Alex or Mohanlal’s aspiring filmmaker friends.

However, as the film approaches its climax, it regains momentum and concludes on a satisfying note.

Positives:

  • Performances
  • Music
  • Lighthearted Moments

Negatives:

  • Slow/Dull Feel at the beginning of the second half
  • A Few Unexciting characters/scenes

Hridayapoorvam Movie Review and Verdict:

Hridayapoorvam is a pleasant, feel-good family movie with heartwarming moments, good music, and natural performances. While it has a few dull moments and a less engaging conflict, it still delivers a nice experience overall.
