0

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe is on a record-breaking spree. Despite the mixed reviews, this commercial entertainer has smashed multiple opening records. The most prominent one being the opening day records set by Vijay’s Master. Master Tamil version has grossed approx Rs 42 Cr worldwide on opening day.

Annaatthe, meanwhile has collected Rs 30Cr gross in India itself. Along with this, a minimum of $2M is the expected figure from day one overseas report.

This means, the film has collected at least a minimum of Rs 45Cr gross on day one and this figure might even go further higher. The USA Numbers are expected to be reported tomorrow and other overseas numbers are also expected to report by tomorrow and will give a complete picture of Annaatthe’s record.

The Tamil version opening has been nothing short of phenomenal. The film has collected Rs 25 crores gross in TN and Rs 3.5 crores gross in Karnataka. It has also hit the Rs 1 crore mark in the rest of India and has collected Rs 95 lakhs gross in Kerala. We will soon post Annaatthe’s updated area-wise collection breakup.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Peddanna has been one of the most hyped movies of this year. With the Superstar returning to an out and out mass role after a huge gap, the pre-release buzz was at its peak. However, with mixed reviews and dull audience talk, the movie seems to be getting derailed in an unexpected manner. Rajinikanth’s Peddanna first-day numbers are a surprising testament to the fact.

The AP and Telangana share for the movie’s first days stands at around Rs 1.42 crores. The start is rather poor and unprecedented for a Rajini movie in Telugu states. Rajinikanth’s Peddanna has done a pre-release business of Rs 13 crores and the recovery seems to be an uphill task. The movie’s disastrous start comes on the back of terrible reviews with many terming it the weakest Rajini movie in recent times.

The film’s day one region-wise number stands as follows.

  • Nizam -Rs 45 lakhs
  • Ceeded Rs -20 Lakhs
  • UA -Rs 10 Lakhs
  • East- Rs 11 Lakhs
  • Guntur- Rs 25 Lakhs
  • Krishna- Rs 11 Lakhs
  • West- Rs 10 Lakhs
  • Nellore -Rs 10 Lakhs

Siva has directed this commercial entertainer which features massive support while Kalanithi Maran has produced the film. The film stars Keerthy Suresh as Rajinikanth’s sister while Nayanthara stars as Superstar’s love interest.

Balakrishna’s Unstoppable off to a flying start

0

After a long wait, Balakrishna’s Unstoppable has finally premiered on Aha. The show true to Balayya’s style is energy-filled and has a bunch of fun moments and candid conversations. Mohan Babu was the first guest on the show and both Balayya and Mohan Babu gave a great festive treat to the audience.

The show has managed to bring out a never-before candid side of Balakrishna and it has registered the highest ever viewership numbers. Manchu Lakshmi and Manchu Vishnu also appeared alongside their father.

The celebrity talk show will see Balayya along with a number of celebrity guests on the sets. Fans and movie lovers are all excited to see this new avatar of the ‘Akhanda’ actor. The upcoming episodes will feature Jr NTR and Prabhas among many A-listers and it’s going to be a treat for movie lovers and fans.

Aha already featured a celebrity talk show ‘Sam Jam’ earlier this year. The show hosted by Samantha failed to impress the audience and turned out to be a dull affair. However, with Balakrishna’s Unstoppable, things have now become exciting and it will indeed be a treat to see the candid side of the actor.

Manchi Rojuluochaie first day Telugu states Box-office collection

0

Maruthi has come up with a comedy entertainer Manchi Rojuluochaie for this Diwali. The film features Santosh Shoban and Mehreen Pirzada in lead roles. True to Maruthi’s style, the film features a huge support cast filled with comedians. The movie received below-average reviews from all quarters and has failed to impress the audience and critics.

Coming to the box office, the AP and Telangana share for the movie’s first days stands at Rs 1 crore. The movie has done a pre-release business of Rs 10 crore. Manchi Rojuluochaie has got off to a disastrous start and the climb to breakeven seems quite uphill from here.

The day 2 bookings of the film are also not up to the mark and it is expected to be a huge loss venture for the makers.

The movie is packed with comedians such as Vennela Kishore, Sapthagiri, Sudershan, Srinivas Reddy, and Praveen. Ajay Ghosh plays a central character as Mehreen’s father.

Vishal and Arya starrer action thriller Enemy hit the screens for Diwali and has failed to get the cash registers ringing. This is the second time Vishal and Arya are coming together on screen after the 2011 critically acclaimed comedy-drama Vaadu Veedu.

Coming to the box office, the AP and Telangana share for the movie’s first days stands at a decent mark Rs 1 crore. The movie has done a pre-release business of Rs 4.5 crore. The weekend performance of this action thriller is crucial in order to achieve its targets

The movie’s action sequences and BGM have been well appreciated. Anand Shankar has directed this film while S Vinod Kumar has produced the film.

Acharya’s second single Neelambari fails to impress

0

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Acharya’s second single Neelambari is out. The makers released this romantic number a while ago on social media. Neelambari is picturized on Ram Charan and Pooja Hegde and is a soft and soothing love song shot at picturesque locations. Anurag Kulkarni and Ramya Behara have sung this number.

The makers Konidela Production Company had earlier released the first single ‘Laahe Laahe’ back in March and the song has clicked 98 million views so far. The buzz around Acharya has been quite cold primarily due to multiple delays. The makers were hoping of reviving it with Acharya’s second single Neelambari, however, it looks unlikely.

The song however has failed to impress the listeners and has given out rather dull vibe. Mani Sharma has composed the music while Sekhar Master has choreographed the song.

Acharya stars Kajal Agarwal opposite Mega Star and Ram Charan will be seen in a crucial role alongside Pooja Hegde. Acharya is all set to hit the screens on 4th February 2022.

Disappointing Diwali for Tollywood

0

The festive season usually brings in lot of hopes of the movie makers and even the audience eagerly wait for it. This Diwali though turned out to be quite a dull affair. All three Tollywood releases- Peddanna, Manchi Rojuluochaie, and Enemy failed to impress the audience.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Peddanna turned out to be a massive disappointment with critics and the audience panning it. The film was criticised for having an outdated plot. Similarly, Santosh Shobhan and Mehreen starter Manchi Rojulocchaie also couldn’t leave a mark. Vishal and Arya starter enemy did have some enthralling action episodes but fell short of overall engaging content.

All these 3 films failed to register good numbers at the ticket window. Adding to this word of mouth is also not good for these Tollywood festive releases. The breakeven targets for the three films are quite high and the distributors are most likely to face losses during the festive season.

Manchi Rojuluochaie review: A sub par entertainer

0

Movie: Manchi Rojuluochaie
Rating: 2/5
Cast: Santosh Shoban, Mehreen Pirzada, Ajay Ghosh
Director: Maruthi
Produced By: SKN & V Celluloid
Release Date: 4th November

Director Maruthi is returning to direction after a gap of two years with Manchi Rojuluochaie. His last couple of films Prathi Raoju Pandage and Shailaja Reddy Alludu failed to create a mark at the box office. Hence, this time he has returned to his strong point- a small-budget comedy entertainer. The movie was made on a shoestring budget and the shoot was completed in just over a month. Did the return to his comfort zone work out for Maruthi? Let’s find out

Story: Santosh (Santosh Shoban) is in a relationship with Paddu (Mehreen) for quite some time. This relationship has been going on without the knowledge of either families. The couple decides to take their relationship one step ahead. However, there is a catch. Paddu’s father Gopalam (Ajay Ghosh) is a timid man with a weak heart. Can he take the news of his daughter’s relationship? How the couple reacts and how Santosh takes the matter to the next level is the crux of the plot.

Performance: Santosh Shoban is playing the mainstream commercial hero for the first time in his career. He dances, romances and fights just as per requirement. However, there is not much scope for the actor in this story. Mehreen has no scope for performances either and has no standing of her own in the film. She is there just to fulfill the lead actress part. The film is essentially driven by Ajay Ghosh and a few comic characters such as Praveen, Vennela Kishore, etc. Ajay Ghosh has got a different and major character for the first time and does total justice to it.

Analysis: Manchi Rojuluochaie is a typical Maruthi template movie. You know what’s going to happen and how the movie will end. What remains to be seen is how he handles the multiple comedy characters and Maruthi does a half-baked job at it. Apart from a few comic punches and Ajay Ghosh’s performance, nothing really works for the film. The movie has a decent message that could have been delivered in a better way without all the on-screen chaos.

Plus Points:

Ajay Ghosh’s performance

Few comedy scenes

Minus Points:

Botched screenplay

Lead actor’s chemistry

Second half

Verdict: Manchi Rojuluochaie is more of an OTT film. The theatrical release for this project is only going to cause an extra burden to the makers. Having said that, some more finesse and better handling of the subject would have definitely made the movie more enjoyable.

Prabhas wraps up Adipurush in a record time

0

The pace of the Adipurush shoot can be determined by the way lead actors are finishing up their portions. First, it was Saif Ali Khan who was followed by Kriti Sanon and now, even Prabhas has completed his portion for the film.

Om Raut took to social media to share the wrap-up celebrations of Prabhas. Both director Om Raut and Prabhas must be appreciated for completing the major shooting portions of such a large-scale movie in this time.

Om Raut is wasting no time and wants to finish the film at the earliest so that the tedious post-production can commence. Adipurush is extensively shot using chroma and the background will be added later. VFX technicians from Hollywood are on the project giving a grand look to the film.

The mythological drama is based on Ramayan and is being directed by Om Raut. Prabhas will be playing the titular role of Adipurush (Lord Ram). The film also features Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, and Sunny Singh. The pan India project will release worldwide in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Peddanna Review: Even Rajinikanth can’t save this outdated plot

0

Movie: Peddanna
Rating: 1.75/5
Cast: Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj
Director: Siva
Produced By: Kalanithi Maran
Release Date: 4th November

A Rajinikanth movie is enough to create a massive hype and a festive atmosphere all over. And if the film itself is releasing on Diwali, then the fireworks are guaranteed to be tenfolds. Such has been the anticipation for the movie that Peddanna/ Annaatthe has created a pre-sales record at the US box office and has recorded 2021 highest premieres gross numbers. Director Siva has packed this mass entertainer and it’s loaded with commercial elements. But, does the movie have enough to set fireworks going?

Story: Rajinikanth plays Veeranna, a village president who is honest and fearless. His world revolves around his sister Meenakshi (Keerthy Suresh). She returns to the village after completing her studies and Veeranna plans to start looking for her marriage alliances. Meenakshi gets married and settles down in Kolkata where she starts facing troubles from multiple elements. How Veeranna protects his sister is what the film is about.

Performance: Rajinikanth as Veeranna is in his true element. He has been playing roles with rural backdrop since the 90s and the Veeranna character is a nice throwback to his roles from Arunachalam and Muthu. He looks super fun on-screen and does everything that’s expected from him. This, however, is the least challenging role from the Superstar and you would get a sense of deja vu quite often. Nayanthara looks gorgeous and performs to her best capabilities in a limited role. Meena, Khushboo, Prakash Raj, and even the antagonist Jagapathy Babu have stereotypical roles which they have been doing for ages. It is Keerthy Suresh who has got the maximum screen presence after Rajinikanth and she performs well throughout the movie. Her first-half performance as a fun-loving younger sister and second half portrayal of a distressed young woman are truly appreciable

Analysis: One of the biggest problems with the movie is the outdated plot. These kinds of saviour dramas with an all-encompassing hero might have worked in the 80s and 9s but not anymore. The plot is a mixture of old Rajini blockbusters and Siva’s own hit films like Vedalam, Veeram, and Viswasam. You can see the essence of these films sprinkled all over. The movie also takes too long to get to the point and the first half is primarily focussed on dishing out the formulaic comedy scenes and songs. As the movie progresses, you can sense the next scenes and their content, and it’s too predictable.

Plus Points:

Rajinikanth’s screen presence

Minus Points:

Formulaic

Over the top melodrama

Filled with plotholes

Poor Screenplay

Verdict: Peddanna is a film that takes the viewers for granted. Presenting the age-old story with Rajinikanth in the lead, Siva’s story could have been a bearable one had he gone for modifications from the tried and tested formula. While the premise of the story that is the brother-sister sentiment is still relevant, the lazy writing and poor screenplay make it tough even for Rajinikanth to salvage.
