What’s Hurting Nani? A Closer Look

In the current landscape of Telugu cinema, Nani has firmly established himself as the most reliable and promising hero in the Tier-2 category. At a time when many Tier-2 films are struggling to secure decent OTT deals and theatrical business, Nani stands out with his consistent choices and sharp judgment. His films are closing lucrative OTT deals at early stages and fetching solid theatrical prices, making them profitable ventures for producers and distributors alike.

However, one noticeable concern persists. While his movies perform exceptionally well on OTT platforms, gaining massive viewership and positive reception from audiences across languages, the same impact isn’t translating to theatres outside the Telugu states. Despite Nani’s sincere efforts in promoting his films across regions, visiting cities, interacting with local media, and building hype the footfalls in theatres from non-Telugu audiences remain underwhelming.

It’s a paradox where his films become hits on digital platforms after a quiet theatrical run in other languages. This trend highlights the need for a stronger theatrical pull in wider markets. Still, Nani’s consistent success with OTT and his growing pan-Indian recognition solidify his place as a dependable star who delivers content-driven, commercially viable cinema.

Thudarum sets industry record

0

Thudarum starring Mohanlal, released recently and shocked all with its blockbuster performance. The film achieved a unanimous positive response and never looked back. It has already entered the 100 crore club worldwide and is aiming for an industry record now. Mohanlal, who established an industry record recently with his L2: Empuraan, is set to repeat this in a short span.

Thudarum was made on a low budget, unlike L2: Empuraan, which was also miles ahead in terms of popularity and buzz. But Thudarum is unstoppable in achieving bigger milestones than L2: Empuraan. L2: Empuraan has set a big record in the 1st week but didn’t continue the same momentum later but Thudarum is having a rampage hold.

Thudarum, even on Day 9, collected more than 6 crores in Kerala, which is more than the opening Day’s collection. Today, the film is already carrying more than 5 crore advances in Kerala. Today, Thudarum will become the 1st ever in Mollywood history to mint 5 crores gross in 10 consecutive days in Kerala. It will establish the record of a double-digit gross worldwide for 10 consecutive days.

Thudarum is also all set to join the 150 crores gross worldwide by today. In Kerala, the film has collected 59 crores gross in just 9 days, and today it will breach the 65 crores mark. It is also set to become the 1st 100 crore grosser in Kerala alone in the upcoming weekends.

0

Tollywood Actor Vijay Deverakonda is currently busy with his film, Kingdom. He has already signed a film under the direction of Rahul Sankrityan, produced by Mythri Movie Makers. This film is planned with a heavy budget and the team has also started interactions regarding the film. One such revelation is the inclusion of Rashmika Mandanna in the film.

This news has gone viral on social media platforms. The team has almost confirmed Rashmika to play the female lead Actress role in the film, which excited the fans and audiences. An official announcement is also set to happen regarding this.

The pair of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika holds a great fandom among the audience. There are also many rumors that they went into relationship, which was also teased many times. Retro Heading Towards a Disaster? Here’s What’s Going Wrong

0

Suriya’s Retro was released in theaters with decent buzz, and the film had a good opening in Tamil Nadu, which was the career best of the actor. However, the mixed response affected the film’s numbers from the second day. Retro is heading towards a disaster.

In all other territories, including Telugu, the film sees a very poor start, and with mixed and below-par reviews and WOM, the film sees a big drop on day 2. The shocking part is that the film even falls flat on day 3 and maintains the same collection as day 2.

Suriya’s Retro is turning out to be a big failure

With that, the movie heads for a big failure at the box office. Karthik Subbaraj’s directorial was expected to provide a comeback for the Ghajini actor, but unfortunately, Suriya’s Retro is heading towards a disaster at the box office.

For 3 days, the worldwide collection is estimated at around 62 Cr, with weekend estimates of just 75 Cr. The film is likely to fall under Kanguva in full run at this trend.

War 2 Telugu States Negotiations In Full Swing

0

War 2 is one of the biggest Indian films this year. The collaboration of Bollywood’s big star Hrithik Roshan and South’s big star NTR made this film one of the most anticipated ones.  War 2 Telugu States negotiations are in full swing.

As said above, the film garnered massive hype with the star-studded combination, and everyone expects this film to be the biggest grosser of this year, and there are also high chances for it to join the 1000 Cr club.

Normally, this spy series of films has worked only for North audiences till now, and South audiences have not connected well with this series of films. As NTR is now part of this, it creates a good anticipation, especially in Telugu.

The movie is releasing on 14th August with Rajinikanth’s Coolie in competition. The business talks begin in Telugu circles. Hrithik Roshan’s and NTR’s War 2 Telugu States negotiations are in full swing.

There has been a discussion for individual area rights along with the two Telugu States’ rights. As per early discussions, distributors are quoting at the 85 Cr range in Telugu States, Andhra [6 Territories], quoting at a 35 Cr ratio.

NTR’s Devara was sold for 120 Cr, including GST, and it made more than 150 Cr, but War 2 can not be compared with Devara as it is a different film and can not attract all audiences like Devara.

War 2 producers are expecting in the range of around 110 Cr, and the distributors are at 85 Cr. Now we need to see where the business will settle finally. But even if it closes at 90 Cr or 100 Cr, it is a very huge business for the film, because of the NTR factor.

HIT The Third Case Crosses 70 Cr Gross in 3 Days

0

Nani’s HIT The third case had a good 3rd day at the box office. The film was released in theaters worldwide on May 1st, and it utilized the public holiday advantage to its fullest potential. HIT The Third Case crosses 70 Cr gross in 3 days.

The crime thriller maintained a similar range on day 3 from day 2 worldwide, with around 16 Cr gross collection. The night shows were affected by the IPL match in India.

HIT 3 Box Office: Sunday Expected to be a Big Day for the Film

The film has collected 71 Cr gross worldwide in three days. Today, advance bookings are promising, and it is expected to have a bigger day at the box office. Big territories, Nizam, Overseas, ROI, and Uttarandhra are expected to achieve breakeven by today itself. In other territories, it will need another 3-4 days.

Nani’s HIT The Third Case crosses 70 Cr gross in 3 days, and the movie is all set to achieve the 100 Cr club by the 1st week itself at this trend.

100 crore mark looks tough for Retro

0

Retro starring Suriya released amid very good hype and buzz. However, the film secured a mixed review in the Tamil version and a below-par review and word of mouth in the Telugu version on the opening day. Still, Retro managed to open big with nearly 33 crores gross worldwide, but the performance on Day 2 is not promising.

The film, as said, saw a drop on its second day and collected only around 14 crores gross worldwide, taking the 2-day worldwide gross to 47 crores. It also seemed to witness only a negligible jump today, and doesn’t look good enough to post a solid weekend performance. With this trend, the film may collect around 75 crores by this weekend. After the weekend ends, Retro may find it difficult to continue the momentum on weekdays with this performance.

So, likely, Retro may not reach the 100 crore mark worldwide and may end up below this figure. Kanguva, Suriya’s previous venture, somehow managed to cross the 100 crore mark worldwide despite receiving poor and negative reviews. Kanguva did mostly well in Telugu, Hindi, and other language markets, apart from its Tamil version. But, Retro has no solid performance in the other language markets, implying a lesser final run than Kanguva.

Hit 3 Two days Overseas Box office collection

Hit 3 starring Nani released recently, and the film is on a record spree. It managed to open with nearly 38 crores gross worldwide, surpassing Nani’s previous best, Dasara. North America is the best-performing territory for the film in the Overseas market. The film has collected nearly $1.5 million there in just 2 days.

Hit 3 is also the 4th film to achieve a $1.5 million for Nani in the US. In Oceania, the film has collected $105K, and in the Middle East, it collected $ 70 K. In the UK and the Rest of the World, Hit 3 collected nearly $230K, which takes the total Overseas gross to $1.9 Million. The film’s Overseas break-even is valued at around $2.8 million.

Hit 3 is all set to cross this breakeven mark comfortably by this weekend itself. The film is also on track to become Nani’s biggest grosser in the Overseas market. The film is also expected to cross the 150 crores gross mark worldwide if the same momentum continues for a few weekends. Surely, this is a resounding victory for Nani and the team of Hit 3.
