At one point in time, the fame and craze that Rajinikanth generated cannot be matched by any other actor in India. The name Rajinikanth was and still is a household name. But off late, Rajinikanth’s movies have lost their connection with the audiences.
Ever since Lingaa, Rajinikanth’s movies are not performing up to the mark at the box office. The only exception in this dull period was Petta in 2019 which did well comparatively.
His last two movies, Darbar and Annaathe have also been disasters at the box office. Annaathe failed to get a decent number overseas as well as in the Telugu states. There are various reasons for this, outdated scripts, directors are not able to cater to Rajini’s star image, etc.
But all is not sad as there is a strong buzz that Rajinikanth will be collaborating with Doctor movie fame Nelson Dilipkumar for a film. This is a fresh and exciting combo that Rajinikanth desperately needs. This combo will be a big plus as Nelson’s market will only grow to great heights after the release of Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast.
Sun Pictures will most likely produce the film and Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music for the film. Like Nelson’s previous films, this will also most likely be a dark comedy. It will be interesting to see how Nelson caters to the star image of Rajinikanth.
