Why Producers Are Not Blaming Themselves For Continuous Disasters

It is a common trend in recent times for producers to blame the result of their films on everything but themselves. It is very convenient to blame the poor performance of a film at the box office on factors like early OTT release and ‘average content’.

When movies fail at the box office, the producers always focus on the content of the film and call it average or poor content. They say that this is the main reason for continuous disasters at the box office.

But the real question is, why are these producers not blaming themselves? These producers hike the ticket prices by 150,175 and 300 for a 10-30 crore budget film and expect audiences to come to the cinema halls.

They can easily recover a budget like this with low ticket rates like 80,100 rupees. Moreover, audiences will readily come to the cinema halls if the ticket prices are low. Keeping the ticket rates at such exorbitant prices for even the small budget movies is the main reason for their underperformance at the box office. They say that they are keeping low ticket rates but it is time for them to understand that 150 rupees is not a low price for a small movie.

The Telugu Film Producers Council met on 21st July to discuss this very issue. It is yet to be seen what strategies will be implemented.
