Karthikeya 2 And Sita Ramam Still Shaking The Box Office

It has been nearly 2-3 weeks since the release of Sita Ramam and Karthikeya 2 but going by the box office trends of both the films, they look unstoppable. Both films have been posting great numbers every day.

While Sita Ramam has done very well domestically as well as overseas. Karthikeya 2 has done enormously well in the Hindi belt as well, collecting more than 20+ crores in net collections. Sita Ramam has collected more than 60+ crores in gross. Whereas Karthikeya 2 stands at a whopping 100 crores in gross.

In addition to that, the poor reviews and talk surrounding the recent biggie release Liger, has also helped the two films witness a massive surge. Both the movies have witnessed a jump for the weekend, with houseful shows being added.

Extra shows are being added for Karthikeya 2 and Sita Ramam in place of Liger. Liger set out to shake India but looks like Sita Ramam and Karthikeya 2 are the lion and tiger of the box office respectively. This just proves yet again that content will always be the king. It does not matter who the star is, it does not matter how much you promote the film. What matters is, content.

Although 2022 has been an overall better year for the Telugu Film Industry, there have been some bumps and obstacles along the way. A lot of people have had to go through many hardships but one man has suffered huge blows one after the other in 2022.

Noted distributor Warangal Srinu, who tasted sweet success has had a rather bitter 2022. Warangal Srinu has lost over 100+ crores in 2022 so far. This is a huge amount for anybody and potentially career-ending as well.

It is almost as if Warangal Srinu had no judgment while choosing his films. He was behind almost every big disaster this year, he either bought the Nizam rights or the entire film’s rights. It is fair to say that his decisions have proved quite costly.

Warangal Srinu had earlier bought the Nizam rights for Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s Acharya. He had a lot of hopes for the film but everybody is aware of the result of Acharya in Nizam. He also bought the Nizam rights of Virata Parvam, which also failed at the box office.

Coming to the most expensive and perhaps the most misjudged decision, Warangal Srinu has also bought the entire South India rights for Liger. This is a huge setback for the distributor who had high hopes for Liger.

Any industry has a lot of competition between its members. There is always a race, especially in the Telugu Film Industry. Every hero is in constant competition with other heroes. This is true, especially in the case of Tier 2 heroes.

No Tier 2 hero wants to be left behind in the race as the margin for error is minimal. At various points, there is always a leading Tier 2 hero but this is constantly changing. For example, Nani was the leading Tier 2 hero at one point but now he has failed behind. After Love Story, Naga Chaitanya was on top but after Thank You he has come down the ladder as well.

Now recently, a popular Tier 2 hero’s film was released amidst massive hype and buzz. But none of these expectations were matched and the movie tanked at the box office. The negative word of mouth has massively helped in the film’s downfall.

After this, many Tier 2 heroes are now relaxed as they are in a safe position. Surprisingly enough, a lot of industry members were also pleased with the failure of the film. The main reason for this is the dislike for the main lead of the film.

Nani direct satire on Vijay Devarakonda on Liger result?

For quite some time, there have been rumours about the strained relationship between Nani and Vijay Deverakonda. The duo shared the screen in the 2015 film Yevade Subhramanyam. While the Natural Star played the lead in this Nag Ashwin film, Vijay played Nani’s childhood friend.

Since then, Vijay has seen meteoric growth in Tollywood and even surpassed his senior in stardom and market. The massive success of Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam made Vijay the rising star of Tollywood. However, with back-to-back flops in form of World Famous Lover and Liger, Vijay’s stardom has taken a serious beating.

Nani’s recent wishes for Liger also gave out similar vibes and netizens are feeling that Nani’s follow-up Tweet was more of a satire than wishes. Twitter users felt Nani replied intentionally after knowing the result of the film.

Meanwhile, Nani will next be seen in action drama ‘Dasara’. Debutant Srikanth Odela will direct this film. Sudhakar Cherukuri will produce the action thriller under Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas. Keerthy Suresh will play the leading lady opposite Nani, which marks their reunion after Nenu Local. The film also has Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Zarina Wahab, and others in key roles.

Vijay, on the other hand will be seen in Shiva Nirvana’s Kushi. Samantha will be seen opposite Vijay and the film’s shoot is going on at the moment.

Director Puri Jagannadh needs a story writer now for his movies

The absolute failure of Liger has raised several questions on Puri Jagannadh and his writing prowess. Puri Jagannadh is failing continuously in delivering good content. Out of the director’s last 3 films Ismart Shankar, Mehbooba, and Paisa Vasool, only the Ram Pothineni starter was a hit. Ismart Shankar’s success was mainly attributed to Mani Sharma and Ram

If we consider the last 3 hit films of Puri Jagannadh, they were Ismart Shankar (2019), Temper (2015), and Businessman (2012). All these films were a success because of various other factors. While the music played a massive role in Ismart Shankar, Temper was all Vakkantham Vamsi story and Jr NTR’s terrific performance. Similarly, Businessman had Mahesh Babu written all over it and the usual Puri mark was missing from it.

This proves that it’s been more than a decade since Puri impressed the audience with his content. He badly needs a strong story writer now. With Jana Gana Mana with Vijay Deverakonda lined up next, it needs to be seen if he can strike back now.

Liger’s poor performance has been quite an eye-opener for Vijay Deverakonda. During the promotions, it seemed that the movie was high on content, and looking at Vijay’s confidence, everyone believed that the movie will end up becoming one of the highest grossers of the year.

The story took a complete turn on the day of its release. Liger got terrible reviews and poor word of mouth leading to limited occupancies from evening shows. Day 2 also has been quite underwhelming and from the looks of it, the movie will register heavy losses in all territories.

Vijay Deverakonda, who watched the movie at Sudarshan theatre in Hyderabad was visibly upset after the movie. His usual energy that was the trademark of Liger promotions was missing. The ‘Rowdy’ star also got emotional after the movie and his dissatisfaction was quite visible. Liger is now heading towards Rs 50Cr+ loss, 1st non-star film to lose Rs 50Cr+ theatrically.

The actor put in great physical effort for the movie and his physical transformation was the talk of the town. However, with the movie failing to impress the audience, he has no choice but to move on to next projects with a renewed hope.

Koratala Siva changes the entire script for movie with NTR

Jr NTR and Koratala Siva’s NTR30 has filled the fans with excitement and got them on their feet in anticipation. This successful combo is going to repeat its magic soon and the movie will be launched on February 7th. After multiple deliberations and confusion, it was announced last year that Koratala Siva would be directing Tarak for this landmark movie.

For a long period of time, there were multiple speculations over whom would NTR choose for his 30th film. While Trivikram was the frontrunner for this, a creative difference between the two led to the movie being shelved for now. Post-Uppena’s success, even newcomer Bucchi Babu Sana was in the news to be directing the NTR 30.

Now the movie is taking good shape and a special teaser was also released for NTR’s birthday in May. The teaser generated massive euphoria and it seems this will be an out-and-out mass entertainer.

After the failure of Acharya, Koratala is being extra careful about NTR 30. Koratala Siva has now changed the entire script for this film and he is taking time as he wants to deliver big this time. The shoot is expected to be delayed by at least another 2-3 months.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger is a pan-India project produced by Puri himself along with Karan Johar. Liger 1st Day was quite eventful and saw huge celebrations by fans.

The Telugu version pre-release business is valued at Rs 70Cr the film has collected in the range of Rs 13 Cr – Rs 14Cr. On Day 2, the bookings look very poor. Liger is now heading towards Rs 50Cr+ loss, 1st non-star film to lose Rs 50Cr+ theatrically.

The sports action drama also stars Ananya Pandey and Ramya Krishnan in key roles. Karan Johar and Puri are jointly producing the film. This much anticipated pan-India project was released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi as well as in Malayalam. 

Meanwhile, Liger OTT premiere details are out. This pan- India project directed by Puri Jagannadh will make its way to OTT on Disney + Hotstar. While the date of OTT premiere is not out yet, it will be revealed soon basis the film’s box-office performance.

Mahesh Babu on Friday launched the trailer of Nagarjuna’s upcoming action thriller ‘The Ghost’. What followed it was an interesting conversation between the Superstar and Nagarjuna who even discussed a possibility of a multistarrer.

On Friday evening, Mahesh Babu shared The Ghost trailer on Twitter wishing Nagarjuna and the team good luck.

Responding to this gesture, Nagarjuna pointed out that 29 years ago, he worked with Superstar Krishna in Vaarasudu and it was about time Mahesh also worked with him. Interestingly, Mahesh responded positively to this suggestion much to the excitement of the fans.

The Ghost features Sonal Chauhan opposite Nagarjuna in the lead role and is directed by Praveen Sattaru. Sunil Narang, Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, and Sharrath Marar are producing the film on Sree Venkateshwara Cinemas LLP and Northstar Entertainment Banners.

Gul Panag and Anikha Surendran are the other prominent cast of the film which is currently being shot in Hyderabad
