Sita Ramam actress Mrunal Thakur demanding Rs 1Cr remuneration for next project

The massive success of Sita Ramam has not just helped massively in reviving Tollywood trade circles but also the careers of cast and crew. Mrunal Thakur is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the movie’s blockbuster performance.

The actress who was also seen in Jersey’s Bollywood remake is now being flooded with offers post the Sita Ramam success. She has reportedly hiked her fees as well and is charging Rs 1 crore for her future projects. Mrunal Thakur’s on-screen chemistry with Dulquer Salmaan was the biggest asset to this film.

The movie has already crossed Rs 50Cr+ gross (All languages) Heading towards the Rs 75Cr mark. Sita Ramam has collected an impressive 25 crores in shares for the Telugu version alone. It has crossed the break-even mark by a mile and is running in heavy profits, making it a huge blockbuster.

Anchor Anasuya, who is known for taking strong stands on social media, has again found herself at the target of online trolls. She has been in a war of words with various Twitter users over age-shaming. The popular TV anchor and actress was trolled for making a satirical remark on Liger’s poor performance.

It all started when Anasuya Tweeted : “Karma is a boomerang and it does come back even if late. Mother’s pain will not go away. Karma.. Sometimes it is difficult to come, but it is sure to come!!.” “#NotHappyOnSomeonesSad”. This was a direct dig at Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger’s failure and poor reviews.

For the unversed, Vijay was criticized heavily for using a certain expletive in his blockbuster film Arjun Reddy. At the time, Anasuya had also called out the actor for promoting abusive language after he said the same abusive dialogue during one of the promotional events.

Soon after, she was attacked by trolls on Twitter who started making ageist remarks against her and called her ‘aunty’. Anasuya then issued a warning to all trolls and started calling them out individually by reposting their hateful tweets against her.

She tweeted, “Here by..taking screenshot of every account abusing me..age shaming me by calling “Aunty”..involving my family into this and I will file a case and take it to a point where you will regret getting to me without any legit reason..this is my final warning..”

Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger was released in theatres on 25th August amidst great hype and excitement. Owing to this, the film opened to phenomenal numbers on opening day. But after the verdict of the film was out, the collections plummeted to the ground.

After the opening day, there has been a huge drop in the collections both in AP and Telangana. Even the Hindi version of the film has witnessed a drop. Liger is heading towards a minimum of 50 crores in losses at least.

Now the main question is, who will compensate for these losses? Warangal Srinu, who has bought the South India rights of Liger for a fancy amount is already in a financial crisis. Liger has only further added to his troubles.

Warangal Srinu is not in a position to refund any money. In fact, he is expecting refunds from Puri Jagan and Charmee Kaur. But, even Puri and Charmee are currently in crisis and have no plans to refund the money anytime soon.

This begs the question as to who will bear the losses for Liger. To add to the troubles, Puri and Vijay’s next combo Jana Gana Mana is now in trouble due to a lack of funds for the film.

It has been nearly 2-3 weeks since the release of Sita Ramam and Karthikeya 2 but going by the box office trends of both the films, they look unstoppable. Both films have been posting great numbers every day.

While Sita Ramam has done very well domestically as well as overseas. Karthikeya 2 has done enormously well in the Hindi belt as well, collecting more than 20+ crores in net collections. Sita Ramam has collected more than 60+ crores in gross. Whereas Karthikeya 2 stands at a whopping 100 crores in gross.

It is almost as if Warangal Srinu had no judgment while choosing his films. He was behind almost every big disaster this year, he either bought the Nizam rights or the entire film’s rights. It is fair to say that his decisions have proved quite costly.

Nani direct satire on Vijay Devarakonda on Liger result?

For quite some time, there have been rumours about the strained relationship between Nani and Vijay Deverakonda. The duo shared the screen in the 2015 film Yevade Subhramanyam. While the Natural Star played the lead in this Nag Ashwin film, Vijay played Nani’s childhood friend.

Since then, Vijay has seen meteoric growth in Tollywood and even surpassed his senior in stardom and market. The massive success of Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam made Vijay the rising star of Tollywood. However, with back-to-back flops in form of World Famous Lover and Liger, Vijay’s stardom has taken a serious beating.

Nani’s recent wishes for Liger also gave out similar vibes and netizens are feeling that Nani’s follow-up Tweet was more of a satire than wishes. Twitter users felt Nani replied intentionally after knowing the result of the film.

Meanwhile, Nani will next be seen in action drama ‘Dasara’. Debutant Srikanth Odela will direct this film. Sudhakar Cherukuri will produce the action thriller under Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas. Keerthy Suresh will play the leading lady opposite Nani, which marks their reunion after Nenu Local. The film also has Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Zarina Wahab, and others in key roles.

Director Puri Jagannadh needs a story writer now for his movies

The absolute failure of Liger has raised several questions on Puri Jagannadh and his writing prowess. Puri Jagannadh is failing continuously in delivering good content. Out of the director’s last 3 films Ismart Shankar, Mehbooba, and Paisa Vasool, only the Ram Pothineni starter was a hit. Ismart Shankar’s success was mainly attributed to Mani Sharma and Ram

If we consider the last 3 hit films of Puri Jagannadh, they were Ismart Shankar (2019), Temper (2015), and Businessman (2012). All these films were a success because of various other factors. While the music played a massive role in Ismart Shankar, Temper was all Vakkantham Vamsi story and Jr NTR’s terrific performance. Similarly, Businessman had Mahesh Babu written all over it and the usual Puri mark was missing from it.

This proves that it’s been more than a decade since Puri impressed the audience with his content. He badly needs a strong story writer now. With Jana Gana Mana with Vijay Deverakonda lined up next, it needs to be seen if he can strike back now.

Liger’s poor performance has been quite an eye-opener for Vijay Deverakonda. During the promotions, it seemed that the movie was high on content, and looking at Vijay’s confidence, everyone believed that the movie will end up becoming one of the highest grossers of the year.

The story took a complete turn on the day of its release. Liger got terrible reviews and poor word of mouth leading to limited occupancies from evening shows. Day 2 also has been quite underwhelming and from the looks of it, the movie will register heavy losses in all territories.

Vijay Deverakonda, who watched the movie at Sudarshan theatre in Hyderabad was visibly upset after the movie. His usual energy that was the trademark of Liger promotions was missing. The ‘Rowdy’ star also got emotional after the movie and his dissatisfaction was quite visible. Liger is now heading towards Rs 50Cr+ loss, 1st non-star film to lose Rs 50Cr+ theatrically.

The actor put in great physical effort for the movie and his physical transformation was the talk of the town. However, with the movie failing to impress the audience, he has no choice but to move on to next projects with a renewed hope.
