Kiran Abbavarm’s Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha was released last week to mostly positive reports and encouraging talk. The film also starred Kashmira and Murali Sharma in key roles and murali Sharma’s acting in particular garnered great reviews.

Dhanush’s Sir, the Telugu version of Vaathi has been doing wonders in Telugu states. The collection on day two of release was on par with the day one collection enabling it to achieve breakeven in several territories already. Dhanush’s powerful performance and GV Prakash’s solid BGM helped the movie immensely in drawing crowds.

Sir has been produced by Sithara Entertainments and the music is scored by GV Prakash.

With its aggressive marketing, Dhanush’s Vaathi generated a lot of hype in Telugu states and was expected to do well. The makers even arranged paid premieres with huge faith in the film’s storyline.

Varisu combo joining hands again for another film

Vamshi Paidipally, Dil Raju, and Vijay came together for this year’s Pongal entertainer Varisu. The film was a grand success in Tamil Nadu but failed to recreate similar magic in Telugu states and certain rest of India territories. However, it was one of the biggest grosser of Vijay’s career owing to TN and overseas collections.

Now, as per reports, Vamshi Paidipally again wants to do a film with Vijay and he has already narrated a line to Vijay. While further details on this development are awaited, the director is now busy with full script work. Dil Raju will be producing this movie in what would be the return of this combo.

Vijay’s Varisu was released on January 11th amidst great expectations from fans. Everyone especially Vijay’s fans had high hopes for this movie considering the sub-par performance of his previous film Beast. While Vijay’s Varisu was released to mixed reviews, it ran to packed houses through the festive season and held well on the next few weekdays as well.

Telugu Film Producers Council results are out and surprising everyone, it was Dil Raju’s camp that held massive lead over others with the producer himself gaining a huge majority of votes. Overall, the election was contested for the following posts

Joint Secretaries – 2
Treasurer – 1
Executive Committee Members – 15

The ace producer won a whopping 470 out of 675 votes and said that if members have voted in such huge numbers for him, surely he must be doing something good.

The Progressive Producers Panel candidate for president, KL Damodar Prasad, who was supported by Dil Raju, defeated Gemini Kiran by 24 votes. The Producers Council Panel of C. Kalyan backed YVS Chowdary and T. Prasanna Kumar who went on to win Secretaries’s posts. The same panel’s Rama Satya Narayana was elected Treasurer by a unanimous vote.

As joint secretaries, Bharath Chowdary from Dil Raju’s panel and Natti Kumar from C. Kalyan’s panel triumphed. Also From Dil Raju’s panel, Ashok Kumar K and Supriya Yarlagadda were already elected as Vice Presidents without opposition.

Dil Raju’s panel also won 10 out of 15 posts in the executive committee and where Raju himself won with an overwhelming lead over others.

RRR, the SS Rajamouli’s directorial starring Ram Charan and NTR, has made history today to become the 1st Indian film to achieve JPY 1 billion (62 Crores) in Japan. The film ranked this extraordinary benchmark on the 122nd day of release. This is a magnificent accomplishment by any means. The previous highest grossing Indian film in Japan for over two decades was Mutthu with JPY 400 million.

Released in October last year, RRR has consistently upheld its box office performance in Japan for months on end, and more recently, it has seen a significant growth in its numbers incurring to the buzz brought about during the Oscar awards season.
