But there’s a slight misjudgment from him in the selection of films, it seems. After establishing as a hero, Vijay Sethupathi didn’t maintain his image as solo and accepted which every role came to him.

Vijay Sethupathi has done negative characters in other Star Hero movies like he appeared as an antagonist in Vijay’s Master. He did a minor role in Rajinikanth’s Petta. Also, he did a villain character in Kamal Haasan and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram.

All these performances have helped him to get a good appreciation for his acting caliber, even Telugu audience too are very fond of him.

Sankranti 2023 is going to be an exciting one for Tollywood fans. This time there are 4 big commercial entertainers starring top stars from Telugu and Tamil vying to emerge victorious in the festive season. While Sankranti 2022 was a disappointing affair, with movies like RRR, Radhe Shyam, Bheemla Nayak all getting pushed to later dates, Sankranti 2023 will surely bring back the festive feel for movie lovers.

First up, there’s Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy releasing on January 12th. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film will also star Shruti Haasan in lead along with Varalaxmi Sarathkumaar in a vital role. Bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers, Veera Simha Reddy’s music is composed by SS Thaman and the first single ‘Jai Balayya’ was released recently.

Releasing just a day later is Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. Bobby is directing this movie which incidentally also stars Shruti Haasan and is bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers. Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja is playing an extended cameo in this action entertainer while Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music.

Vijay’s Varisu/ Vaarasudu and Ajith’s Thunivu are the other 2 big star projects lined up for the festive season. While Varisu, directed by Vamsi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju and has managed to create a good buzz in Telugu states, Thunivu by H.Vinoth hasn’t exactly set the trade circles in high spirits. A lot will depend on Thunivu’s initial talk in TN.

Apart from these top star’s movies, young hero, Santosh Sobhan has also entered the fray with Kalyanam Kamaneeyam. The film is backed by UV Creations.

RRR Wins One More Prestigious Award

RRR is on a roll, winning prestigious awards of American film fraternity. As we know maverick director SS Rajamouli won best director award for RRR of the prestigious NY Film Critics Circle. Just within days, it achieved another rare feat by winning Atlanta Film Critics Circle award for the year 2022.

The movie has won the best International Picture award for the year 2022 facing a stiff competition from movies across the world. The movie was well received by critics, movie lovers in the USA. The nerve wracking action, fierce dance number, melodrama, anti colonialism as the theme impressed the movie lovers especially action genre fans.

Directed by SS Rajamouli and starring the two Telugu superstars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, RRR has hugely impressed the western audience and critics. The period-action extravaganza continues its victory march and by winning the Atlanta Film Critics Circle awards, it has strengthened the chances of RRR picking up multiple nominations at the 95th Academy Awards next year, which will be presented next year on March 12.

Generally Indian movies rarely go beyond NRIs or people from an Indian origin at the USA box office. However, due to Netflix, the film got a wider reach, which made the film to be an international hit, especially in the USA. It has been in the top non English movie position for many weeks.

The movie is also creating a great buzz in Japan, emerging as the biggest Indian movie ever there. This is quite a recognition for Indian cinema, and Rajamouli has really pushed the envelope and put Telugu cinema on a global map.

We know that Nandamuri Balakrishna is acting under the direction of Anil Ravipudi for his 108th movie. It is being told that the director Anil Ravipudi attempted to cast a Bollywood actress in this to star opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna.

However, his attempts were vain, it seems. Reports are coming that Sonakshi Sinha was approached for the film, but the producers gave up the idea after she cited an enormous price.

According to the sources, Anil Ravipudi is now in favor of casting Telugu girl Priyanka Jawalkar. It is also being said that he recently did a photoshoot with her.

After this news came out, many people in social media are criticizing the idea of casting a young heroine opposite Balayya. However, it has not been told whether Priyanka Jawalkar is playing a female lead role or daughter’s character. All the rumors stop only when an official response will be given by the makers.
