Vijay’s Varisu was released in theatres on January 11th and clashed with another big star project- Ajith’s Thunivu. The family drama received mixed reviews but Vijay’s star power and festive season resulted in the film getting off to a good start. The film ran to packed houses in its initial days. The film, however, might just miss off on the RS 300 crore mark making it the second instance in Vijay’s career.
Bigil is the career biggest grosser for Vijay with 290Cr+ gross worldwide and it missed the 300Cr club by a whisker. Now same is likely to happen for Varisu as the film gross is now close to 290Cr. The film needs to collect more than 10Cr gross to join the 300Cr club and for that, it needs another 2 weeks strong run in TN.
Varisu which was directed by Vamshi Paidipally is about a businessman with a terminal health condition with his business empire in trouble. How Vijay, the youngest son protects his family is what the story is about.
The movie also starred Rashmika Mandanna, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Yogi Babu, Shaam, Srikanth, and Ganesh Venkatram in key roles. Thaman’smusic and BGM received special applause and now the film is getting ready for its digital premiere.
