Massive 500 Cr business in Telugu states for upcoming releases over the next 2 months

The Telugu Cinema audience will be going to witness many films in the next two months. These two months are very crucial for the industry as a massive amount of 500 CR business is being done collectively for all the films. Many films categorized as Straight, dubbing, big, small films will be released from September to October.

The months of September and October are so crucial for buyers, as they have grabbed the upcoming movies for record prices. The first film to release in this list is Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha’s Kushi. The film is getting released on September 1st and the film’s Telugu states business is 40Cr.

On September 7th, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is being released and the film’s Telugu version’s rights are being quoted at 15Cr reportedly. Ram Pothineni and Boyapati Srinu’s Skanda will be released on 15th September and this film’s Telugu states business is done for 50Cr.

The much hyped Sequel Tillu Square’s business in Telugu states will be around 20Cr, and Raghava Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2 is being quoted at 13Cr. Prabhas and Prashanth Neel’s Salaar makers are said to have quoting in the range of 200Cr. Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari 65Cr, Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo at 23Cr. Raviteja’s Tiger Nageswar Rao around 30Cr and a few small films are also releasing in between these big films.

Overall, if we put together all the films’ business which are being released in the next 2 Months , then it will be around 500 Cr in just Telugu States.

Bollywood’s most awaited films Gadar 2 and OMG 2 were released on August 11, with a massive box office clash between them. Both films performed very well, and they were able to attract large numbers of audiences to the theaters. Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 earned Rs 85 crore net at the box office, while Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s film earned over Rs 284 crore within the first week of the release. However, the latest video of Sunny Deol where he is seen degrading the box office performance of Lagaan is going viral on the internet.

Ahead of the release, the lead actor, Sunny Deol elaborated on his film, Gadar 2, clashing with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and cited the example of his first part which had also faced a clash with Aamir’s Lagaan. During the interview, he said that Lagaan has collected just about 2 – 5% of Gadar’s numbers. Now it has to be seen how it will be the reaction of netizens/public to these comments of Sunny.

A few weeks back, Sunny Deol sat for a detailed interview with a leading Hindi news channel where he opened up about the competition and the clash different films with during the first and second installment. He told the News Channel, “Dekhiye, competition uss waqt bhi tha jab humne Gadar lagai thi aur Lagaan thi aur log Lagaan Lagaan kar rahe the. Maine socha hi nahi tha. Maine bola meri Gadar hai jo hoga so hoga. Because us waqt woh hamare koi shauq hai kaise logon ko pakadna banana uski hawa banana, main unme se hoon nahi. Toh woh hawa bahut bani hui thi.”

He further added, “Lekin jab dono pictures lagi – Lagaan I have not seen, but it was a very good film – but Gadar ne jo dandha (Business) kia woh uska not even 2%-5% dandha hoga jo Gadar ne kia tha. So when they compare it that way, I say ‘I don’t see the comparison, but definitely it was a good film.”

The Ceeded rights of Leo have been sold for 4Cr, while Andhra [6 Territories] will be in the range of 11-12Cr, and Nizam will be around 7Cr. The Total business of Telugu states is expected to be around 22Cr which is the highest for hero Vijay, and it is also a record business for overall dubbing movies in Telugu except for a few films.

Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj have previously collaborated on the film ‘Master’, which was successful at the box office. Now, the two have reunited again for ‘Leo’. Trisha, Priya Anand, Arjun Sarja, Mysskin, Gautham Menon, and Sanjay Dutt are all present in the cast. Sanjay is acting in his first Tamil movie with Leo. Anirudh is composing the music for the film, with Camera being cranked by Manoj Paramahamsa and editing by Philomin Raj. ‘Leo’ is produced by 7 Screen Studio. The movie is slated for release on October 19.

Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 is not in a mood to slow down at the box office. Made as a sequel to Gadar (2001), the film was released on August 11th along with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. Bigg Boss Telugu Season 4 fame Syed Sohel Ryan’s latest film, ‘Mr. Pregnant’, was released on this Friday. The posters and promos had hinted that the film has been made with a unique concept, which features young actress Roopa Koduri as the female lead, who was impressive in her debut film Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya. On the same day of Mr. Pregnant movie’s release, Prabhas’ Yogi was re-released in theaters in both Telugu states. On social media, Sohel’s comments on ‘Yogi’ and other big films re-releases have gone viral.

In a promotional interview after the movie’s release, which happened yesterday evening, Sohel advised distributors and fans of top Tollywood star heroes not to re-release big movies on weekends. “Please don’t plan any re-release on weekends, as the hype around big movies featuring top stars will kill the little vibe which small movies generate after much struggle. I humbly urge everyone to plan the re-releases on weekdays and leave the weekends for small movies instead,” Sohel said.

According to Sohel, young and upcoming actors like him enter the industry with many dreams and require the support of both the industry and the audience. He also requested everybody to watch “Mr Pregnant” and support him and his crew.

One has to agree that there is truth in the words and pain of Sohel. The trend of re releasing the old super hit movies of star heroes has affected the newly released small films in the past as well.

Lokesh Kanagaraj postpones Kaithi 2 again

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming projects lineup has created massive intrigue amongst movie lovers. His next film Leo starring Vijay has already shattered several pre-release business records and with Karthi starrer Kaithi 2 also set to release as a part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe, everyone is excited to see how these iconic characters will cross paths.

Kaithi 2 has been one of the most anticipated films of LCU. But, it looks like the project will be delayed further. Karthi and producers had earlier announced that after Leo, they were planning to go ahead with Kaithi 2 on a massive budget. But, as per reports, Lokesh Kanaraj has signed his next with Rajinikanth, and Kaithi 2 will start after what is billed as Thalaivar 171.
