Guntur Kaaram is a massive combination of Trivikram and Mahesh Babu. The combo was planned to do a high-octane action entertainer. Later, with Mahesh Babu’s suggestion, the combo opted for a family subject. There have been continuous hurdles with these changes in the crew, schedule changes, and reshooting of some scenes. The final shooting started after many breaks in August, and it was completed in December.
The team completely promoted the film as a mass film, which only impressed fans. The audio also failed to create a big impact before the release. The team unnecessarily released the love song, which let down a lot of buzz for the film. With all these factors, the film fails to create the big combination craze at release time and opens with below-par word-of-mouth and reviews as well.
After seeing the response from the early shows, the trade thought it would be another Brahmotsavam for Mahesh Babu and Agnyaathavaasi for Trivikram. At the same time, Hanuman opens with unanimous positive reviews and word-of-mouth. But the brand of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram in families, Sankranthi festival, helps the film manage to post good numbers at the box office. In Andhra, all six distributors reach the breakeven mark.
