Dhanush’s Captain Miller was released for Pongal alongside Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan to positive reviews and favorable word of mouth. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, Captain Miller is the biggest film in Dhanush’s career in terms of budget.
According to Kollywood trade circles, the budget of this film is more than 100Cr. The film was released On 12th January and the Telugu version was released on 26th January. It opened well in Tamil markets but slowed down tremendously especially in other languages after the first weekend. Overall, Captain Miller failed to create an impact as everyone expected.
In Tamil Nadu, the movie ended its run with 38Cr gross which is a below-par number for a project of this stature. The film did well in Karnataka and Kerala while Telugu states and North India collections were extremely poor. Overseas market fetched decent collections for Captain Miller but they were not as strong as expected.
Overall the film ended up with 70Cr gross worldwide in all versions collections which is a below-par-average performance for the film. Tamil Nadu collected 38Cr gross while the Telugu states fetched a meager 2Cr, Rest Of India got the makers around 13 Cr while overseas collections are in the range of 17Cr gross.
Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the film also starred Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shivarajkumar, Aditi Balan, Sundeep Kishan, and John Kokken in key roles.
