Tollywood Comedian, Vennela Kishore‘s recent film Chari 111 failed miserably at the box office. It also stars Samyuktha Viswanathan in the female lead role directed by TG Keerthi Kumar. The film failed miserably at the box office. The director planned the film as a franchise. But now after the debacle, he may change his plan. Chari 111 is now streaming on OTT.

The film is now streaming on the leading OTT Giant, Amazon Prime Video. People and audiences have started avoiding some films to watch in the theatres. Big Stars are even facing the same issue. So Vennela Kishore’s film wouldn’t be different from that. Irrespective of the film’s talk people are not thronging the theatres assuming that they would anyways come on OTTs afterwards. Many exhibitors and distributors are facing financial problems because of this attitude of the audiences. Some OTT giants are even showing disinterest in buying the films. This has caused problems for many films. Chari 111 is also one of such films.

Ajith’s double treat: Two movies for release in just three months

Tamil Actor, Ajith who last worked for Thunivu will be giving a double treat for his fans. He will have two movies for release in just three months of time gap. Generally, all the top stars work for only one film a year. But Ajith seems to have changed his mind now. He is currently working for Vidaa Muyarchi planned for release this October. It is reported that his next film, rumored titled, Good, Bad, and Ugly will be released by next year Sankranthi.

Vidaa Muyarchi is directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. Its filming is also happening at a brisk pace. Trisha plays the female lead role. The film also has Arjun playing a pivotal role. This would mark Arjun’s second film with Ajith after Mankatha/Gambler. Ajith would be filming for his next film, Good, Bad, and Ugly under Mythri Movie Makers production. This film will be started this June. The team hopes to wrap the film in very less days.

This film will also be released during the Sankranthi season the next year. So, Ajith is all set to release his upcoming films in just three months. This is indeed a treat for fans who are missing so much from Ajith.

A.R. Rahman to score music for the Epic Ramayana

It is truly amazing news for the fans of A.R. Rahman. He will be composing the music score for the epic Ramayana adaptation of Bollywood. This film will star Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Kannada Rocking Star Yash in the villain Ravana role. What is more shocking is Hollywood Maestro, Hans Zimmer also becoming a part of the film as co-musician.

This will be Hans Zimmer’s official entry into the Indian film Industry. He enjoys a great fanbase in India as well. The film will be made into three parts as a trilogy. The official making of the film’s first part has already started. Ranbir Kapoor recently scored the blockbuster Animal. The songs and film’s scenes became famous throughout the nation. NTR’s Devara Has Missed Out Blockbuster Release Date

If the initial plans were to go by, Devara would have had a worldwide release today, i.e., April 5, 2024. With no biggies in theatres, this would have been a sure shot ‘Hit’ for the film. However, owing to production delays, the makers have opted for a release on October 10th this year. Unfortunately, the new date comes with its own share of issues in terms of films in competition.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Ram Charan’s political drama film Game Changer, some of the biggest Indian films of the year, are likely to clash with Devara’s release date. In Tamil, Ajith’s Vidaa Muyarchi and Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan are headed for release in the same month. Clearly, minting big figures is not going to be easy for NTR, who has pinned a tonne of hopes on Devara: Part 1.

Koratala Shiva, who faced a major setback with Acharya (2022), will be keen to prove his mettle with Devara. With music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, it also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in supporting roles.

Kerala CM urges withdrawal of THE KERALA STORY broadcast

The Kerala Story starring Adah Sharma became a controversial film after its release. The film was based on a real-life incident that happened in Kerala. It features Adah Sharma becoming a hostage and her struggle to come to her homeland. It also deals with religious conversions in the film which made it controversial across the nation. Now, Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged to stop the broadcast of The Kerala Story.

The film though controversial became a surprise hit in North India. Now it is getting ready to premiere on TV. The Kerala Story will air on the Government channel, Doordarshan on April 5th. The CM of Kerala took strong objection to this and condemned the plan of screening the film. The CM called it a propaganda film and urged to stop the screening.

Such Propaganda films have been on a roll recently. Many films like Kashmir Files, Razakar, and Savarkar have been made and released also. This caused a big controversy across the nation. Political parties are screening and making films for their benefit and agenda as elections are around the corner. Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj’s story plot revealed

Rajinikanth confirmed his upcoming film with happening Director Lokesh Kanagaraj. It’s indeed big news for Kanagaraj after making a film with Vijay for his Leo. The film didn’t perform as it was expected and turned out to be just decent. But Kanagaraj still managed to attract eyeballs and grabbed the opportunity to work with Superstar Rajinikanth. The first look of the film was also released recently. Now their film’s story plot is also revealed.

According to the Kollywood Circles, the film is said to be inspired by the 2013 Hollywood film, Purge. The plot follows The American Government sanctioning an annual 12-hour period in which all criminal activity-including murder becomes legal. The police can’t be called and hospitals suspend help for the victims. This is surely a shock if they both work on this kind of film.

The first look of the film revealed Rajinikanth to be a menacing guy with hands tied with a golden lock. It has taken the internet by storm. The team is also getting ready to release the title and teaser on April 22nd. Bollywood Actor, Ranveer Singh is also said to play a pivotal role in the film. This will be made at a Pan India level as well.

Dhanush’s directional film Raayan locks the release date

Dhanush’s 50th film Raayan which is also written and directed by him is a going to be a massive project and all eyes are on Dhanush as he’s returning to direction after 7 years. He last directed Pa Paandi a comedy-drama starring Ravi Kiran and Revathy which earned him a Filmfare Award for best director. Raayan is an action thriller and will be made on a much bigger scale.

The film’s teaser is expected to release on April 14th for Tamil new year with the makers aiming for a release on June 7th. The film’s first look poster and title was launched some time back and it had Dhanush in an apron and Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan on the background and the theme of the poster eluded a violent and bloody rage.

The gangster drama marks his 50th film and the movie stars Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, Dushara Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Aparna Balamurali and Selvaraghavan in lead roles. The music for the film is composed by AR Rahman. The film is backed by Sun Pictures and is slated to release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

The successful Geetha Givindam combo of Prasuram and Vijay Deverakonda is back with The Family Star. With Mrunal Thakur joining this team, this surely looks like a winning horse but the low buzz and poor reception to the trailer has made the film completely dependent on word of mouth. Let’s see if The Family Star manages to bring a much needed success to Vijay

Story:

Vijay Deverakonda (Govardhan) is an out and out family man who shoulders the responsibility of his entire family. The story follows the family’s lives and how Govardhan runs the show. His life changes when Indu (Mrunal Thakur) enters his life. While the love blossoms, it hits a roadblock with the shadow of Govardhan’s past adding further troubles to everyone’s life.

Performances:

Vijay Deverakonda is fine in places but The Family Star can be considered his weakest performance so far. The loophole filled writing and wafer-thin screenplay doesn’t help either. Mrunal Thakur looks great but performance falls short of expectations when it comes to performance. Her third outing has turned out be the first low point for her 3 film old Tollywood career and a poorly written character doesn’t help either. Vennela Kishore and Rohini Hattangadi are wasted and while they have decent screen time, the writing doesn’t allow them to shine. The rest of the cast is okay with no extraordinary performances to write much about.

Analysis:

The entire formula of establishing a middle-class family and their spending habits is too far-fetched. Some episodes as evident from the trailer are too far- fetched and even the middle-class audience might mock them. Vijay’s preachiness and disciplinarian conduct look quite unnatural.

The conflict between the brothers is not convincing, and this segment falls flat from the beg-inning. The tension between the hero and the heroine seems quite artificial. The second half gets even more unconvincing and while the first half manages to engage with a few entertaining episodes, the second half does the exact opposite.

The Family Star movie verdict

With a cliched plot and poor writing The Family Star brings nothing new to the table. Parasuram’s treatment of the subject lacks freshness and while Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur are a fresh pair, their lack of chemistry coupled with weak screenplay makes The Family Star an unfinished product.

Yatra 2 finally arriving on OTT Platform

Mahi V Raghav’s political drama Yatra 2 starring Jiva in YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s role was released earlier this year. The biographical film was released amidst political heat due to upcoming elections and failed miserably at the box office. The film after being a box-office debacle is now ready for its OTT streaming soon. Yatra 2 is a sequel to Yatra which followed the rise of YS Rajasekhara Reddy to the CM’s position.

The sequel, however, failed to live upto the expectations of the first part. It is finally arriving on Amazon Prime Video soon with either 12th April or 19th April being speculated as the OTT release date.

Mahi V Raghav’s Yatra 2. The film is not a usual entertainer and is loaded with political references and agendas. It chronicles the life of AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy after the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his subsequent Padayatra against the wishes of the Congress high command.

With elections approaching in AP later this year, YSRCP supporters pinned high hopes on this film. Unfortunately, the film couldn’t live up to the expectations. The makers hope OTT streaming will reach the film to audiences.

Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur starrer Family Star has released world over. While the film carries the hit Geetha Govindam combination of Vijay and Parasuram, it saw average advance bookings for today. The main reason for this is the trailer and other promotional content failing to create a mark. In addition to this, the lead pair chemistry of Vijay and Rashmika was a big positive for Geetha Govindam. This seems to be missing in Family Star.

Coming to the film, the emotional plot and scenes were not established and the audience could not connect well. Gopi Sundar’s music also failed to create magic as one would have expected. Overall, the movie is said to be below average family entertainer that offers some funny scenes and a few good moments here and there while the rest felt like a serial.

The core plot of The Family Star feels quite outdated and Parasuram has made little effort to present audience with something fresh. With this low buzz, such a word of mouth the film may not reach its expected target. Apart from this, the presence of Tillu Square in theaters is also a disadvantage to this Vijay Deverakonda starter if the talk doesn’t improve. However, the positive sign for the film is the upcoming weeks being filled with holidays.
