‘Super Star’ Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan: Release Date Officially Out

‘Super Star’ Rajinikanth’s last theatrical outing in a full-length role was Jailer (2023). Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, this action drama film was a mammoth commercial success, grossing INR 600 crore at the box office. After a ‘Blockbuster’ of this scale, Thalaiva has surprised fans with an extended cameo in his daughter’s directorial Lal Salaam (2024).

Keeping it aside, he will be next seen in a retro-style action drama film titled ‘Vettaiyan’. Helmed by T. J. Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame, it features an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Fassil, and Rana Daggubati. Lyca Productions, the company that’s bankrolling this project on a large scale, has surprised fans with their release date announcement.

Vettaiyan will have a grand release worldwide in October 2024. A new poster has been unveiled, which showcases Thaliava in a fierce avatar. According to sources, Rajinikanth plays a dedicated cop who fights against the corporate exploitation of educational institutions. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

She received a great amount of appreciation for her performance and managed to grab opportunities with the success of Sita Ramam. She did Hi Nanna with Natural Star Nani for which she was applauded as well. But, it now feels that she is doing the same kind of roles in her Telugu films.

Mrunal Thakur starred in the lead role in Family Star along with Vijay Deverakonda. She plays a rich girl in the film who falls in love with a middle-class boy. And in this process, conflicts arise in her family because of her rich status. When we look at it closely, this format has been the same for all the movies she did here. The plot and taking seem to have been different but her characterization has been the same in these three films.

She must now come out of this format and do something different or else she may have to see an end card here. Her recent film, Family Star also happens to be her first flop. The film’s second day also indicates that the film is heading towards a big disaster. Family Star may end up as another disaster for Vijay Deverakonda who has been looking to score a big hit since Geetha Govindam. Interestingly, the same director-actor combo i.e., Parasuram and Vijay Deverakonda came together for Family Star but the result is a nightmare for both now.

Unlike Tamil, Malayalam films are not hero-worshipping or larger-than-life; in fact, they are quite often simple family dramas with hard-hitting emotions. This unique storytelling is what gained them acclaim across the country. In spite of this, Malayalam films have never really worked in Telugu. Barring Mohan Lal’s Manyam Puli (the dubbed version of Pulimurugan), Mollywood films have never made any impact in Telugu states.

However, it looks like the landscape of cinema is changing. Thanks to Rajamouli, every film that performed well in their home language is being dubbed into other languages of the nation. One such film was the romantic comedy Premalu; released with the same title, it was a successful venture in Telugu, selling more than 10,000 tickets on the first day itself.

Owing to a good performance, Manjummel Boys, a sensation in Kerala, was released in Telugu with the same title last Friday. And expectedly, the film fared extremely well, with an estimated gross of INR 1.7 crore on its first day—the biggest opening for any Malayalam film in Telugu. Selling over 35K tickets on its first day of theatrical run, this survival thriller is expected to perform better on Saturday and Sunday. What an year for Malayalam cinema!

Following in his footsteps, ‘Global Star’ Ram Charan too lavished praise on the lead actors, director, and Naga Vamshi, the film’s producer. A tweet from an actor of Charan’s stature is definitely noteworthy and is very likely to improve the film’s performance. Tillu Square starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Anupama Parameswaran impressed everyone with its fun and entertainment. The film managed to evoke laughs and a gross of 100 crores worldwide. This is an amazing performance considering its budget and business. Producer Naga Vamsi is a happy man now.

Tillu Square faced a big threat in the form of Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star. The film carried so much hype because of various reasons. It was produced by Dil Raju and directed by Geetha Govindam fame P. Parasuram. These all made the audience feel that Family Star would surely be the winner and may finish Tillu Square. But the situation has turned upside down now. Family Star received below-par reviews and openings. The film is already going downhill with its performance for 2 days.

These reasons are making Tillu Square the priority for the audiences. It became the priority for the audience to watch now and it would have the same momentum for the next few days as well. Tillu Square has crossed 50 Cr share now and now it may target the 70 Cr crore share club as well. The film will have a terrific advantage in the form of Ugadi and Ramzan festivals. Family Star starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur is heading towards a disaster. The film opened with poor numbers on the opening day itself with just 6 crore+ gross worldwide. This is with GST included in Nizam and AP. This is a shocking number considering the budget. The team and makers felt the film may recover on the second day. But what they experienced is no less than a shocker.

Family Star witnessed a big crash on Day 2 with the share to be around 2 crores worldwide. This is a complete washout scenario. Today’s advance bookings too are disastrous. The film has collected around 8.5 crores share worldwide. This is Vijay Deverakonda’s least number compared to earlier films which had a great opening as well. The breakeven of the film stands at 45 crores worldwide. Recovering 1/3rd of the business done feels very tough now for the film. This is an outright disaster situation for Family Star which carried great hype before the release.

Producer Dil Raju has already started doing something to save his film but these won’t help. The film’s word of mouth and reviews are not at all good and this further caused great damage. The film might get washed out after Sunday.

Aha officially announces Premalu Telugu streaming date

Malayalam film, Premalu stunned everyone with its performance at the box office. The film became a sleeper hit in Malayalam and it attracted the Telugu Audience as well. Premalu went on to gross more than 100 crores worldwide. Following its success, it was released in Telugu and it repeated the same success here as well grossing nearly 15 crores worldwide. Now Premalu is streaming on Aha and the official streaming date has been announced.

The film will stream on Aha Video on April 12th. Premalu was distributed by SS Karthikeya, son of SS Rajamouli. He understood the film’s importance very early and bought the rights to the film. Likewise, it performed excellent. It is now officially the highest-grossing Malayalam film in the Telugu language. Premalu also became the 4th highest-grossing Malayalam film after Manjummel Boys, 2018, and Lucifer.

Being a rom-com and a film with no big star cast performing to this level has never happened. The team must be appreciated for their hard work and content. Following the success of Premalu, Manjummel Boys too was released in Telugu to repeat the same magic in Telugu. Premalu’s Malayalam language version will stream on another leading OTT giant, Disney+Hotstar on April 12th.

Producer Dil Raju has been aggressively promoting his film, Family Star starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. The film which carried big hype before its release faltered on the opening day. However, the team and Dil Raju seemed to have understood the situation and began doing damage control work. In this process, Dil Raju has become a review reporter for Family Star. This is a bit surprising thing.

He was seen interviewing people who came out of the theatre, mostly family audience who were praising the film naturally. They said that they enjoyed the film and it was good as well. But one needs to understand that if the film had been so good Dil Raju shouldn’t have come to rescue the film and turn as a review reporter. The team is missing many such logics like these right from the beginning of the film. The film is made around a middle-class background but picturized lavishly. Director Parasuram should have taken care of these things.

Tamil heroes have hit a jackpot attracting Telugu Producers for their films. Dil Raju, a reputed Tollywood producer had produced Vaarisu with Vijay. He was believed to have given 120 crores as remuneration for Vijay for the film which is an astonishing number. This was also Vijay’s highest at that point. Now, Ajith is about to get 150 crores as remuneration for his next film with Mythri Movie Makers. These Tamil Heroes are really cashing on Telugu Producers.

Tollywood’s banners are thinking much about these Tamil heroes. They are taking it prestigious also. D.V.V. Danayya is also said to have offered 250 crores as remuneration for Vijay for his upcoming film. No one knows if this could be Vijay’s last film. Now, coming to Ajith he is about to get 150 crores for his upcoming film, currently rumored title, Good, Bad, and Ugly.

Mythri Movie Makers are trying to offer 10 crores for Love Today fame, Pradeep Ranganathan for a film which is also a big number for him. Indian 2 release date officially out

Shankar’s directorial Indian 2, the sequel to yesteryear blockbuster Indian has finally locked its release date. The film stars Kamal Haasan in the lead role with Kajal Aggarwal playing the female lead. Siddarth also plays a pivotal role in the film. Indian 2 is a much-awaited project for both Shankar and Kamal Haasan when it was started. But the film had been delayed for various reasons.

Now after fans repeated wishes, the team announced the release date. Indian 2 will be released on the 13th of June as a Bakrid gift. The team released a poster where Kamal Haasan’s hands were tied with cuffs but ready to attack with his finger through the ancient Marmakala. Shankar has decided to make the film into two parts. So this part is titled Indian II: Zero Tolerance. The film’s third part will release next year as confirmed by Kamal Haasan recently in a pressmeet.

The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. This would mark his debut collaboration with Shankar. Glimpse of the film was also released and many praised Anirudh for his Background score as well. Now, Fans can’t wait for the team to release the first lyrical song from the film.
