0

Tollywood Director Rajamouli announced his next project after RRR with Mahesh Babu. The film will be a globetrotting adventure as indicated by the team. It will also be made on a very large scale. Fans and Audiences have been waiting since the announcement for an update. The Pre-production works for the film are also going on and Mahesh Babu even took part in a look test for the film as well. But both Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli have disappointed the fans again.

The launch of the film was supposed to happen long before but it didn’t. This disappointed the fans. All had expected the film to launch during the Ugadi festival but the team made no step ahead. Generally, Rajamouli announces details about his films through a press meet every time but this is taking time to audiences’ disappointment. Now, they feel that the director and team might conduct this press meet during the birthday of Superstar Krishna, father of Mahesh Babu.

There is also a talk that Rajamouli would provide details regarding the film with a pre-shot VFX Video as a prelude of the film. This gives audiences an idea about the film. The budget for the film would be as massive as for the previous films of Rajamouli.

Aadujeevitham Surpasses KGF: Chapter-2

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s epic survival thriller film Aadujeevitham (titled The Goat Life in Telugu) continues to post good numbers at the box office. After shattering multiple records, the film has most recently surpassed a record held by KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) in the state of Kerala.

KGF-2 was a mammoth blockbuster in Malayalam with a gross of INR 69 crore; Aadu Jeevitham managed to get past this figure yesterday. The film’s performance has slowed down, and experts believe it will enter the all-time top-3 grossers, beating Manjummel Boys (2024) and Bahubali: The Conclusion (2018).

Needless to say, Tovino Thomas’s 2018 (2023) and Mohan Lal’s Pulimurugan (2016) occupy the top places in the list of Malayalam cinema’s industry hits. As of today, Aadujeevitham‘s worldwide gross stands at a staggering INR 143 crore. Based on a classic novel of the same name, the film is directed by Blessy.

Koratala Shiva’s Devara: Part One is getting bigger with each passing day; most recently, the film’s Hindi distribution rights were bagged by Karan Johar and Anil Thadani at a price of INR 50 crore. Within no time, the action drama has bagged new offers from streaming platforms and distributors; the film’s Telugu theatrical rights are estimated to be around INR 120 crore.

This is the highest business for any film of NTR or Koratala Shiva; For Devara to breakeven, it has to mint a total of INR 200 crore gross in its final run in Telugu states. The theatrical rights in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada are valued at INR 50 crore, while the overseas business stands at INR 27 crore. It should collect around 60 Cr gross to achieve breakeven.

Overall, this action drama film must collect a worldwide gross of INR 400 crore to enter the profit zone; these are massive numbers, and the film must perform exceptionally well in breakeven in all markets. Heading towards a grand release on October 10, 2024, Devara stars Janvhi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in supporting roles, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Pushpa: The Rule is one of the most anticipated films of the year; the promotional content released so far, which includes posters and teasers, has been well-received by audiences across the country. This is the highest price offered to any Indian film for Hindi theatrical rights; if this rumor turns out to be true, Allu Arjun will have a rare record under his name. Mid-range heroes of Tollywood, Naga Chaitanya, and Nithiin are set for a box-office clash. Their upcoming films, Thandel and Robinhood are releasing on 20th October this year. The same has been confirmed by both the film teams today on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami.

Thandel starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi is a prestigious project for the actor and the production house, Geetha Arts as well. The making is also being planned on a large scale directed by Chandoo Mondeti. On the other hand, Robinhood stars Nithiin collaborating with Director Venky Kudumula. The first look of the film was also released recently. Their combo delivered blockbuster film, Bheeshma. So the expectations for both films are high.

Naga Chaitanya is seriously in need of a hit at the box office. His last hit film was Bangarraju but it was a sequel to Soggade Chinni Nayana and had Nagarjuna in it. His last solo hit happens to be Majili. All the other films except these failed at the box office. Nithiin too scored a hit with Bheeshma and experienced failures at the box office thereafter. His recent film, Extra Ordinary Man bombed at the box office as well. So their Box office clash will be interesting.

Family Star arriving early on Prime Video

Family Star, the recent film of Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur tasted a bitter experience at the box office. The film received negative reviews on its opening day and ended up securing a disastrous result. The team expressed confidence about the revival of the film but it didn’t happen and the film shocked fans and the team. The box office run of the film has ended and the buzz is Family Star will be arriving on Amazon Prime Video early in the next weekend which is just 3 weeks after the release.

The film made less impact on the opening day further deteriorating its performance during the weekend. The competition with already running Blockbuster Tillu Square also cost a lot for the film. Family Star had the magical combo of Parasuram and Vijay Deverakonda who had collaborated after the blockbuster, Geetha Govindam but it didn’t repeat the magic again and became an embarrassment for the duo. It also happens to be Mrunal Thakur’s first flop in her Telugu ventures.

Vijay Deverakonda faced his 5th consecutive disappointment with the Family Star. He hasn’t said anything about the film’s result yet. But the actor is currently working for a film under Gowtham Tinnanuri, the fame of Jersey.

Vijay Devarakonda’s Career Troubles Continue

0

Dubbed ‘Rowdy Star’, Vijay Devarakonda was touted to be the next superstar of Telugu cinema, scoring back-to-back hits. But fate had other plans in store for him; the handsome hunk tasted not one but five box-failures in a row of varying degrees, with the comedy thriller Taxiwaala (2018) being his last clean ‘Hit’.

The much-hyped Dear Comrade (2019) posted good opening numbers but emerged as a disaster in the long run, particularly for its slow pace; his next venture, World Famous Lover (2020), was also a box-office bomb. At this point in his career, Vijay promoted himself on a ‘Pan-Indian’ level, pinning high hopes on Puri Jagannadh’s Liger (2022).

The result, as we all know, was a disaster of epic proportions, with critics calling it some of the worst films ever made. His next outing was the romantic drama film Kushi (2023), starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the female lead. The film had a lukewarm reception and ended up as an ‘average’ grosser.

While Kushi can be seen as a revive for Devarakonda’s career, he desperately needed a’smash hit’ to mark a comeback into commercial films; he collaborated with Parasuram Petla for the second time after the blockbuster Geetha Govindam (2018). Titled Family Star (2024), this family drama film received mixed reviews from cinegoers and, as expected, bombed at the box office very badly. As you could see, Devarakonda’s career is in serious trouble; the actor has signed a film with Goutham Tinnanuri of Jersey (2019) fame.

Dune (1965) is an epic sci-fi novel written by Frank Herbert. Considered one of the finest works in the sci-fi genre, it emerged as an international best-seller. Following the cult it gained over the years, a live-action adaptation has been made by Legendary Pictures.

Planned as a two-part saga, Dune: Part One (2021) was released to positive reviews from critics and emerged as a box-office success with a worldwide gross of $430 million. Following the reception of the first installment, a direct sequel, Dune: Part Two (2024), was released this year.

The film received rave reviews from audiences and grossed over $680 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $190 million; a third film in the franchise Dune Messaiah is in development. Both the films released so far are available for streaming on Prime Video on a rental basis. ‘Premalu Is Overrated’ – OTT Audience

0

Premalu (2024) was a sensation in Malayalam with a worldwide gross of over INR 135 crore; following its success, the film was dubbed and released in Telugu by Karthikeya, the son of legendary filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli. As expected, the film performed well, with immense praise for the performances and the humour.

The lead actors of the film have come to Hyderabad to promote the film, while Rajamouli lavished praise on the cast and crew at the film’s success meet. After all this hustle and bustle, Premalu premiered on the streaming platforms Aha in Telugu and Hotstar in Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi.

The romantic comedy clocked good viewership on Aha, but the reception has turned out to be mixed, with many calling it ‘overhyped’ and ‘average film’. Experts believe that the major reason behind this is the substandard dubbing quality in Telugu. It must be noted that, unlike Tamil, the Telugu dub of Malayalam films is not standardised owing to low demand. Co-written and directed by A. D. Girish, Premalu stars Mamitha Baiju and Nalsen K. Gafoor in lead roles.
