Film stars who are active in politics are often known to mouth dialogues laced with their political ideologies and aspirations. Nandamuri Balakrishna and Pawan Kalyan are a couple of names that come to mind when thinking of such examples. It’s not a new trend and actors have been using films as a platform to promote their political game.

With elections nearing Pawan Kalyan who earlier used to keep movies and politics separate has become quite politically vocal in movies. Recently for Ustaad Bhagat Singh’s teaser, the same happened when Pawan Kalyan promoted his his glass symbol and political references.

Now, he has once again subtly hinted at a similar act with the poster of Hari Hara Veera Mallu. The teaser announcement update featured ‘Dhramam Kosam Yuddham’ referring to that are being considered by many as a political message regarding upcoming elections.

Pawan Kalyan is likely to join the shooting sets from this may. Firstly he will finish OG’s shooting balance, Which was announced for 27th September release. After OG Pawan Kalyan is likely to join Hari Hara Veera mallu shooting and first part is expected to release in 2025 summer.

Tillu Square beats Dasara

Tillu Square starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Anupama Parameswaran opened to positive reviews and became a blockbuster hit. The film is a sequel to DJ Tillu which was also a smashing hit. Everyone thought that Tillu Square would repeat its prequel success but it did the unthinkable. The film raced to gross 100 crores in no time and stunned everyone. Now, Tillu Square has officially beaten Nani starrer Dasara‘s final numbers as well.

Tillu Square has grossed around 125 crores as confirmed by the Production house. Dasara on the other hand fell short of 120 crores in its full run. Tillu Square achieving it with no Pan India scale making and promotion is sensational. The film is now eyeing to beat Geetha Govindam, the highest-grossing film of Vijay Deverakonda till now. Geetha Govindam grossed nearly 130 crores worldwide. No Tier 2 film went near this record for many years until Hanuman. Even Dasara, made and publicized as a Pan India film couldn’t go past this record.

Only Hanuman and Karthikeya 2 managed to score a 100 crore gross feat other than these films. But Hanuman and Karthikeya 2 attained a Pan India image and publicity and secured those records. Geetha Govindam and Tillu Square happen to be the only films with no Pan India coverage and making to gross more than 125 crores.

Tollywood Actor, Vijay Deverakonda faced an embarrassment recently with his film, Family Star. The film which carried a good hype before the release performed poorly after its release. It received negative reviews and word of mouth right from the first show and never recovered afterwards. Well, all this makes one wonder why Vijay Deverakonda’s words and judgement are going wrong again and again.

Vijay Deverakonda during the press meets and events of his films expresses a big amount of confidence. He even goes ahead and reports box office numbers only to see the films becoming flops miserably. This makes one wonder if he doesn’t have a judgement about the films he does or thinks blindly that they would perform well just because of his presence. This must change from his side.

If he goes on to do this, audience wouldn’t believe in his words for his upcoming films. A big example of this again is Family Star which failed miserably at the box office. He along with the team expressed the same confidence and words again. During the pre-release event, Vijay Deverakonda said that whatever Family Star achieves in the form of awards and rewards must belong to the Director Parasuram. He spoke this as if it was a Success Meet event of the film. Vijay Deverakonda must wait till the film gets released and then speak greatly about the film.

Family Star happens to be Vijay Deverakonda’s 5th consecutive disappointment at the box office. The last hit he scored was with Taxiwala released in 2018.

Vishal coming into politics

Tamil Actor, Vishal has revealed a sensational news. He is all set to venture into politics. The Actor was talking in an interview about his upcoming film, Rathnam directed by Hari. The film’s trailer also released yesterday. In this interview, he spoke about his political entry. He said that he is coming into politics for sure. But he didn’t mention about the party’s announcement or joining any other party.

Vishal once became very popular for being the president of Nadigar Sangam i.e., the Actors Association in Kollywood. He made the news then competing against another Veteran Actor Sarathkumar. There was also talk regarding his political entry once during a by-poll once in Tamil Nadu but that didn’t happen. At last, he has decided now to come into politics.

Recently another Actor Vijay formally announced his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam shortly TVK. Vijay has also confirmed that he would concentrate completely on politics after doing the current film The Greatest Of All Time and another film with H. Vinoth. Vijay would contest the 2026 state elections and now Vishal too would be a part of the elections. So it’s very interesting to see two actors coming into politics after 2 years.

Thug Life: Dulquer Salmaan is Back

Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan is directed by Mani Ratnam. The film’s glimpse of the film was also released. Mani Ratnam roped in many actors for the film as well. Trisha was roped in for the female lead character. Tamil Actor, Jayam Ravi and Malayalam Actor, Dulquer Salmaan also came on board for the film initially. But they both opted out of the film for various reasons. Now, the news is that Dulquer Salmaan is back for Thug Life.

After their exit, Jayam Ravi was replaced by Simbu, and Dulquer Salmaan too was believed to be replaced by Aravind Swamy. But Dulquer does not want to miss the chance so he adjusted the dates and came back again for the film. It will be his second collaboration with Mani Ratnam after OK Kanmani/OK Bangaram. Mani Ratnam on the other hand is said to be planning a tight schedule to finish the film as soon as possible.

The shoot of the film is expected to start from this month’s end. The film will be made on a Pan India scale and likewise have a release. Kamal Haasan’s other film, Indian 2/Bharateeyuduudu 2 is all set and ready to release this June.

Boyapati Sreenu officially confirms Akhanda sequel

There is no need for the special introduction of Nandamuri Balakrishna and blockbuster director Boyapati Srinu’s combination. They have scored a hat-trick of hits such as Simha, Legend, and Akhanda. It is no exaggeration to say that no other director has shown Balakrishna the way Boyapati has shown him.

In his latest press interaction, Boyapati Sreenu confirmed that he is collaborating with Balakrishna again. He stated that he will be collaborating with Balayya for Akhanda sequel where the duo will deliver what society needs with divine elements. The director confirmed that once the upcoming elections are done, an official word regarding the movie will be out.

Released in 2021, Akhanda performed brilliantly in domestic as well as overseas markets. Along with that, Akhanda also received great appreciation after making its OTT premiere. Top Producer offers big price for Devara rights

Devara Starring Jr. NTR shooting is happening at a brisk pace. The film is being made on a large scale and will be released in major Indian languages as well. The film is announced for release on 10th October. The team is busy with the post-production work. Sithara Entertainments is said to be in the race to acquire entire Telugu States rights. The Top Producer is also offering a big amount in the range of 120 crores for Devara rights in the Telugu States.

Another Tollywood Production house, Mythri Movie Makers, and Renowned Producer Dil Raju are also in the race to acquire the Telugu state rights. Fans and Audiences are pinning big hopes on Devara. The teaser too showcased the big scale production values of the film. NTR wants to come back harder with the film after RRR. He took no time to start the film and still making sure everything happens properly.

Jr. NTR is also working for War 2 in a pivotal role. The media spotted him taking part in the shoot in Mumbai for the film. With this, he wants to make himself a Pan India star. He also has a film with Prashant Neel lined up.

Kalki 2898 AD the next big thing from Tollywood has set a great amount as Breakeven. Kalki 2898 AD Telugu States business has been done in the ratio of 200 crores. All this business has been done on the recovery basis by taking advances from the distributors. So the risk would go to the producer. As said, the film needs to collect 200 crores+ share from the Telugu States to achieve the break-even mark for the producers.

Till now, only Rajamouli’s films collected 200 crores+ share mark in Telugu States. Prabhas’ previous film, Salaar ended up collecting 147 crores share including the GST. 200 crore would be a very big target in Telugu States. The makers have done the same in the Overseas market as well. The film must collect more than 100 crore share in Overseas for the team. If this is the case, Kalki 2898 AD has to collect a minimum of 1000 crores gross worldwide for its high costs and risks involved.

Considering the genre it was made the film if all goes well has a good chance. But only a few films did this and that too without the VFX genre involved. So let’s see how Kalki 2898 AD fares at the box office.

Malayalam film, Manjummel Boys has achieved many milestones after its release. The film managed to achieve unanimous positive reviews and grossed 100 crores in no time there. It went on to gross 200 crores worldwide as well becoming the Industry hit officially. However, it seems Manjummel Boys has just missed a milestone at the Box Office.

The film has grossed more than 200 crores worldwide but it just fell short of the 250 crore mark to create a milestone for Mollywood. It would have reached this figure if the film performed exceptionally well in Telugu. It did good in the Telugu version but there were no sensational numbers. Premalu still leads over Manjummel Boys in Telugu States and US numbers. Premalu’s Telugu version collected in the range of 14 crores. The Telugu version of Manjummel Boys has collected in the range of 10 crores. Another 5 crores is expected from the film’s final run.

Manjummel Boys has grossed 236 crores worldwide till now and it’s likely to close around 240 crores. If the Telugu version had collected in the range of 25 crores it could have been the first 250 crores grosser for Mollywood. But there are always chances and let’s see which one does this first.

Last week was a disastrous one for Bollywood. Both the big releases, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan had a terrible run at the box office and the audience rejected them straightaway. Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starter Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was in particular a massive letdown for the entire team.

The film is a heavy-budget action thriller which is made on a massive budget of Rs 350 Cr. Despite the large-scale promotions, the film failed to create any buzz and opened with disastrous numbers. In its 1st weekend, it opened with 39 Cr nett in India and 3 Million in overseas. The film crashed totally on Monday with just Rs 2 crore nett collection.

Going by the current trend, it looks extremely difficult for the film to collect 100 Cr gross worldwide in its lifetime. The terrible performance of the film has led to losses of more than 200 Cr on this film.

Due to the crash of non-theatrical market, the producers are now in difficult situations. The big stars are offered massive remunerations with the hope of getting record OTT offers. With big OTT deals drying up, all the burden has now fallen on the film’s theatrical run. And as we have seen in the case of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, no amount of star power and big budget film can save the film is the word of mouth is bad.
