Shankar’s daughter ties the knot

Maverick Director Shankar‘s Daughter has tied the knot. She happens to be the eldest daughter of Shankar, Aishwarya Shankar married to Tarun Karthikeyan. The marriage happened in a grand way. Many celebrities attended the ceremony as well. Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vikram, Suriya, and Karthi attended from the Kollywood list.

Bollywood Actor Ranveer Singh also participated in the reception and danced to some songs as well. He danced along with another daughter of Shankar, Aditi at the reception. Ranveer Singh planned to work with Shankar once for the remake of Anniyan/Aparichitudu. This project was shelved due to some reasons but Ranveer Singh made himself part of Shankar’s events not wanting to lose a chance. He also attended the opening ceremony of Shankar and Ram Charan’s Game Changer.

On the work front, Shankar is right now busy with his Indian 2/Bharateeyudu 2 and Game Changer. Indian 2 has been officially announced to release this June. It is also titled Indian 2: Zero Tolerance recently. A poster was also released with the title as well. Game Changer will release this September or October. Lead Actor of the film, Ram Charan too confirmed the same recently at his doctorate conferment ceremony held at Chennai.

Samantha Paired Opposite Ranveer Singh!

Following her separation from Naga Chaitanya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has kicked off the second innings of her career, with a special focus on Hindi cinema. As a part of her plan, she has signed to play the female lead in the Indian adaptation of Prime Video’s Citadel. Titled Citadel: Honey Boney, she will be seen opposite Bollywood star Varun Dhawan.

Besides acting, Samantha is also signing a string of brand endorsements; one such is the new ad commercial for food delivery service Zomato. In a surprising move, she was seen opposite Ranveer Singh, one of the biggest stars in Hindi cinema. The ad was well received, with fans praising the duo’s chemistry.

In addition to this, she is also aggressively promoting herself on social media with glamorous posts. But she hasn’t signed any feature films, with her last theatrical outing being Vijay Devarakonda‘s Kushi (2023); directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film was an average grosser at the box office.

Prashanth Varma To Direct Ranveer Singh?

After the historic success of HanuMan (2024), Prashanth Varma has turned out to be one of the most sought-after directors of Indian cinema, and the young lad deserves all the fame and money for delivering what he did. As officially announced, Varma is currently working on the script for a sequel to HanuMan.

Titled ‘Jai HanuMan’, the film features an ensemble cast, with Teja Sajja reprising his role as ‘Hanumanthu’. After this, Varma is reportedly directing Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh; if rumours are to go by, this will be an action drama film with a mythology touch. Multiple high-profile Bollywood companies are rumoured to be keen to bankroll this mega project.

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh is signed to play the lead role in Farhan Akhtar’s Don-3 and Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. If everything goes smoothly, Prashanth Varma’s project may go on the floor after these films.

Allari Naresh’s Aa Okkati Adakku – Release Date Out

After starring in a series of serious films, Allari Naresh is back in his signature genre. Titled ‘Aa Okkati Adakku’, this is a romantic comedy featuring Faria Abdullah of Jathi Ratnalu (2021) fame as the female lead. The film’s background score and songs are composed by Gopi Sundar.

Directed by debutant Malli Ankam, it was initially slated for a worldwide release on March 22, 2024. But for reasons undisclosed, it was postponed to a different date. Amidst many rumours, the makers of the film have released a promo on YouTube that revealed the finalised release date.

Aa Okkati Adakku is hitting the big screens on May 3, 2024. Bankrolled by Rajiv Chilaka under the banner ‘Chilaka Productions’, it also stars Vennala Kishore, ‘Viva’ Harsha, Jamie Lever, and Ariana Glory. The film’s distribution rights in Telugu states have been bagged by Asian Suresh Entertainment LLP.

Teja Sajja’s Next Announced With An Exciting Poster!

Teja Sajja needs no introduction; this little boy who played the young Chiranjeevi in Indra (2002) is now a nationally acclaimed actor after the historic success of Prashanth Varma’s superhero flick HanuMan (2024). With the direct sequel ‘Jai Hanuman’ already announced, fans expected this to be his next outing.

But it looks like the actor has other plans. Helmed by cinematographer-turned-director Karthik Ghattamaneni, Teja will be next seen in a high-octane action drama film. The film is bankrolled by T. G. Vishwa Prasad under the banner ‘People Media Factory’. Tentatively titled #PMF36, it features Ritika Singh as the female lead.

Unveiling an exciting poster, the makers have announced that the film’s ‘Title Announcement Glimpse’ will be released on April 18, 2024. According to sources, Manchu Manoj is the main antagonist in this film. Basking in the success of Teja’s previous venture, this project is reportedly made on a grand scale.

The Family Star: Heavy loss venture for Dil Raju

Normally for the combination of Vijay Devarakonda and Parusaram especially after Geetha Govindam, Dil Raju should have been in very big profits before the release itself. In most cases, the producer will be in a safe position even if the movie is a disaster. However, that’s not the case with Family Star which has brought a huge loss for Dil Raju.

The main reason for this debacle is the budget planning. The film was initially planned budget to be around 60 Cr – 65Cr but the final budget crossed 90 Cr. It was at the same time OTT platforms started backing out and this resulted in The Family Star not making much from digital rights as per Dil Raju’s expectations.

The ace producer was able to recover only half of the budget from non-theatrical and he expected the film would work like Geetha Govindam and theatrical revenues give him profits.

But shockingly The Family Star opened with disastrous numbers and reviews with all buyers ending up with huge losses. Dil Raju went for his own release in Nizam and Uttarandhra. He got around 35Cr shares including Nizam and UA. That itself accounts to more than a 10 Cr loss for Dilraju and now he needs to compensate the distributors of the film as they lost more than 2/3 of their investments.

Lokesh Kanagaraj ropes in Shruthi Haasan for Rajinikanth film

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj made news after announcing his next film with Superstar Rajinikanth. The film is tentatively titled #Thalaivar171. Rajinikanth will be playing a gold smuggling don in the film. Anirudh Ravichander was also roped in to compose the tunes for the film. Now, the news is Kanagaraj has roped in Shruthi Hassan in the film.

Kanagaraj recently did a song with Shruthi Haasan titled Inimel. Now she will be playing a pivotal role in his film. The teaser will be released along with the title on 22nd April. The entire cast will be announced in the video as well. The shooting of this film will also start from this June. There are also rumors that the film will be based on a Hollywood film, Purge. The first look too depicted Rajini portraying a menacing look with his hands locked with a Gold Chain.

Rajinikanth has been shooting for his current film, Vettaiyan which will release in this October. The film is directed by T.J. Gnanavel. He will be moving to his next film, Hukum, Jailer’s sequel directed by Nelson. Hukum will be made on a Pan India scale as Jailer became a big blockbuster grossing more than 600 crores worldwide.

Manjummel Boys achieves an epic milestone for Mollywood

Malayalam film, Manjummel Boys created a sensation after its release grossing more than 100 crores. The film stars no big star from Mollywood but still managed to reach the 200 crores gross mark worldwide as well. It now stands as the Industry hit in Mollywood officially. Now, it seems Manjummel Boys has achieved another epic milestone for Mollywood.

Manjummel Boys after its success attracted Telugu buyers and likewise, Mythri Movie Makers distributed it in Telugu. It became a commercial success here as well. The Telugu version gross is reported to be around 9 crores and the direct Malayalam version is another 1 crore taking the number to 10 crores. Tamil Nadu’s gross has already crossed the 60 crores mark and even surpassed Suriya’s highest collections there. Now, with these Manjummel Boys becomes the first film to collect double-digit gross in all the southern states.

This is indeed a big milestone for Mollywood which is riding high with the additional successes of The Goat Life and Premalu. Both these films grossed more than 100 crores worldwide. Premalu became a big hit in Telugu as well grossing nearly 14 crores. Manjummel Boys will be streaming on OTT Platform, Disney+Hotstar on May 3rd.

Release of Kalki 2898 AD Delayed

Kalki 2898 AD release date has been a matter of great suspense. The film is one of the most anticipated movies of this year and there are massive expectations on this film thanks to its loaded star cast that includes Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan among others. The audience’s expectations on this film, however, are being dampened by a lack of clarity on a release date.

Kalki was initially announced for a 9th May release but due to the elections scheduled on 13th May, the makers are now forced to change the dates and considering two release options. The first one is on 30th May and the second one is 20th June.

Despite the change, both these dates are not ideal ones to release the film. 30th May is quite a part of election season with the results date quite near to it. And 13th of June is when Indian 2 is arriving and also marking the end of summer vacations.

Now the makers are reportedly planning to change the plans and release may be postponed to July. The film is likely to be released in July 2nd week. The official release announcement is expected on happen on Srirama Navami on 17th April.

Nag Ashwin has already stated that Kalki will show something that’s never been attempted in Indian cinema before. While this is a great indication of things to expect in Kalki 2898 AD, a clear understanding on the release date will help everyone.

This is a phenomenal achievement for the Industry adding back to back 100 crore grossers in a month’s gap.
