R. Parthiban released a video on social media after facing backlash for a controversial remark about Trisha Krishnan during the Galatta Awards. The actor-director stated that his comment was taken out of context and misinterpreted.

Trisha’s Sharp Response

Following the incident, Trisha reacted strongly on social media, criticizing Parthiban’s remark.

She wrote that “a microphone only makes a comment louder, not more intelligent,” indirectly addressing the statement made at the awards event.

What Happened Backstage

Parthiban explained that he had been waiting backstage for nearly 30 minutes before going on stage. During that time, he watched a YouTube video discussing Vijay’s political rise.

According to the video, Trisha should not have attended a wedding reception with Vijay. Parthiban added that similar opinions were circulating at the time, including from a journalist who felt that she should have avoided attending the event.

The “Kundhavai” Comment

Parthiban clarified that when Trisha’s photo unexpectedly appeared on the screen during the show, the anchor referenced Kundhavai, the character from the film Ponniyin Selvan: I that both actors were associated with.

Reacting instantly, he said:

“Let Kundhavai stay at home so that problems don’t arise.”

He later explained that the statement was made spontaneously and was not intended to offend anyone.

Request to Remove the Clip

After leaving the stage, a journalist friend reportedly told Parthiban that the comment could have been avoided.

Realizing the issue, Parthiban immediately contacted the event organizers and asked them to remove the clip. However, the video had already leaked online by the following morning.

Delay in His Response

Parthiban said he had already written a note expressing regret and recorded a video message around March 8 for Women’s Day. However, the video processing reportedly took longer than expected.

By the time he uploaded the video, he had already seen Trisha’s post on X responding to the controversy.

He concluded by saying that if he had known about her reaction earlier, he might not have released the video message at all.
