Maharaja beats Baahubali 2 in China. Generally, North India films work at the China box office, but the South Indian films failed to work big including the landmark film like Baahubali 2. The Prabhas and Rajamouli’s film had good openings in China but failed to continue the momentum and ended up with 80 Cr INR gross. Now, Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja beats Baahubali 2 in China.

Maharaja worked well at China and it is continuing the good run at at the box office. After 17 days of theatrical run, Maharaja collected 81 Cr gross in China and surpassed Baahubali 2, which is a sensational feat. Within next one week or 10 days the film will likely go past the 100 Cr mark. Maharaja stands as the highest South Indian cinema grosser in China now.

Maharaja’s success is a big boon for Vijay Sethupathi’s career as a solo hero. In the last few years, he appeared in villain roles in other hero films and then stated that he would not be playing any villain roles from now on. As a solo hero, he has gone through a lot of disappointments in recent years until Maharaja emerged as his career’s biggest hit.

So, to solve this issue, a mutual deal has been done between Dil Raju and Mythri Movies.

After Christmas, the next date for Robinhood in the view of Mythri is Maha Shivaratri. The same date was blocked by Dil Raju and Nithin’s Thammudu. Now, if Robinhood comes for Shivaratri then it will be a mutual benefit for both the parties involved. The official announcement of Robinhood’s new release date is expected to be out soon.

Vijay Sethupathi rejects Ram Charan’s Film. It is widely known that actor Vijay Sethupathi is a well-known name in South Indian Cinema. He did not limit himself to just the hero characters and he also did supporting and villain characters in many films. At first, he appeared in powerful characters in other hero films, but after a point, his characters looked regular and routine.

For example, in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, Vijay Sethupathi’s character was a regular commercial one. Even the actor expressed that he is not getting such interesting characters. The Viduthalai actor recently delivered a blockbuster as a solo hero with Maharaja.

Game Changer Carrying Positive Reports

All eyes are now set on Ram Charan’s Game Changer, the next pan-India biggie from Tollywood. This is Ram Charan’s first lead hero film since RRR which was released back in 2022. And even though Indian 2 failed, the audience has a strong belief that Shankar can give a strong comeback with Game Changer.

So far, three songs have been released from the film and the latest song Naanaa Hyraanaa was received well by the audience. The team announced a big pre-release event next in America. Gradually, the buzz is now increasing for the film and it is carrying positive reports in industry circles.

Game Changer is reportedly going to be continuously engaging and will carry vintage Shankar’s mark commercial message. Even the runtime looks decent with 160-165 minutes. This is perfect for a commercial film.

Coming to the movie, the flashback portions with older Ram Charan along with emotional scenes have come out well. This segment is also packed with fights and mass confrontation scenes which will engage the viewers. Game Changer is likely to be a Shivaji kind of commercial film from Shankar. Pushpa 2 Worldwide gross collection after 11 days is 1230 Cr. Right from the day of its release, several speculations were made that Pushpa 2 might tough the collections of Prabhas starter Baahubali 2 and with a strong second weekend, this Allu Arjun film is inching closer. Baahubali2 on its 1st release [Indian languages] collected more than 1700 Cr gross worldwide.

So Pushpa 2 now needs another 500 Cr from now to cross Baahubali 2 numbers. This entirely depends on the Hindi number. Looking at the current trends, from here, South India may contribute another 100 Cr gross with Christmas and New Year holidays approaching.

Pushpa 2 needs at least 300 Cr nett in India from the Hindi version itself. The film is definitely is on track for 1550 – 1600 collection lifetime. And some miraculous run is now needed to cross Baahubali 2 milestone.

After a record-breaking 1st week, Pushpa 2 continued the rampage on the second weekend. The film has been running strong, especially in Hindi markets where it posted record-breaking numbers on the second weekend.

The movie’s first week’s gross worldwide was 965 Cr. For the second weekend (four days), it collected around 265 Cr. This brings the total 11-day collections to 1230 Cr.

This is the 2nd highest collection in Indian cinema for this period after Baahubali 2 (an Indian language release). Pushpa 2 has grossed around Rs 1015 crores in India and more than 210 crores from overseas. The overseas marker has been comparatively weaker for this Sukumar film.

In India, the film is performing in the range of Baahubali 2, but overseas, it is not even doing 60% of Baahubali 2.  The main reason for this is the underperformance of the Telugu version. With the weekdays starting, it will be interesting to see how Pushpa 2 fares hereon.

Akhil took a huge break after Agent failed to select his next project. He was supposed to do another big-budget film after Agent with a new director under UV Productions. However, the decision was changed and he is now finally coming up with an entertainer.

Akhil’s next film has been confirmed with director Murali Kishore who earlier directed Kiran Abbavaram starter Vinaro Bhayam Vishnu Katha. The pooja ceremony happened on Sunday. Nagarjuna and Sithara Entertainments are jointly producing the film.

Sreeleela is playing the lead role opposite Akhil, while SS Thaman has been roped in to compose music. Filming is slated to start by the end of the month. Fans are hopeful this new project will be the turning point for Akhil, helping him regain his footing in the industry.

After the failure of Agent, it has taken almost 2 years for Akhil to come up with a new project. Success and failures are common but Akhil is going on a pretty unusual route and a stage where he should be looking for a comeback, he is delaying his projects and putting big pressure on himself. Now all eyes are on this fresh combination and we need to see if the much elusive hit finds the young actor with this movie.

In India, the film is performing at the Baahubali 2 range, but overseas, it is not even doing 60% of Baahubali 2. Pushpa 2 trails behind Kalki 2898 AD Overseas.

The main reason for this is the underperformance of the Telugu version. The Hindi version is doing extremely well, helping Pushpa 2 to put the final good number, But the Telugu version’s underperformance has disappointed the distributors and producers. In North America, Baahubali 2 collected $20.8M, Kalki collected $18.5M, whereas Pushpa 2 gathered $12.8M in 11 days. The Telugu versions of films like Baahubali2, RRR, and Kalki did more than 10 Million dollars in North America. Kalki 2898 AD collected $12.8M which is the highest collection for any Telugu film, whereas Pushpa 2 is at around $7.2M, and there is a huge difference.

Overall, Baahubali 2’s overseas collections were 47M in the initial release, and Kalki did 32 M. Pushpa 2, for 11 days, collected around 26M, and it is likely to close under Kalki now. However, in India, the closing gross of Pushpa 2 will be double that of Kalki 2898 AD.
