It is widely known that the actor was seen in negative/leading villain roles in films like Master, Vikram, and Uppena.Vijay Sethupathi has recently decided to take a break from his antagonist roles. He cited the emotional strain that comes with these characters as the primary reason for his decision. He appeared last in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, playing the villain Kalee Gaikwad.

Sethupathi talked about his experience playing antagonistic roles during an interaction at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), emphasizing his difficulties. He mentioned instances where his scenes were often removed, and at times, lead actors would personally ask him to take on negative roles in their movies.

Explaining his decision, Sethupathi stated, “They try to put an emotional pressure on me, which I don’t want to face. I am not feeling bad, but there are restrictions when I play a villain. They are controlling me so much, not to take over the protagonist, and some things go in the editing also.”

Taking a break from such roles for a while, Sethupathi acknowledged the difficulties he faced in declining villainous roles.
