War 2’s Date Final, Coolie Has to Adjust

0

NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s much-anticipated action movie ‘War 2’ has been in the news for its release date, which was initially set for the Independence Day weekend. However, current speculations imply a one- to two-month delay, with conjecture that ‘Coolie’ will take its place. The makers of ‘War 2’ have formally stated that the picture will be released in theaters as scheduled, dismissing any idea of a postponement.

With this confirmation, the team behind ‘Coolie’ must now make a strategic decision on the release date. Both ‘War 2’ and ‘Coolie’ are significant pan-India pictures, thus a direct confrontation would be needless and could have an impact on box office success. Given the buzz around ‘War 2’, industry analysts anticipate it to be the year’s highest-grossing film.

On the other hand, ‘Coolie’ has high hopes. The team will now have to find a different date to ensure a smooth launching with no competition. Fans are eagerly awaiting developments from both movie teams, particularly as ‘War 2’ prepares to launch its commercial campaign in the coming weeks.

Agent on OTT: More Troubles for Akhil

0

Akhil Akkineni’s spy thriller ‘Agent’ had a dismal theatrical run, with people avoiding it due to unfavorable word of mouth. The film’s failure was a severe disappointment for everyone concerned, particularly Akhil, who took an extended pause before revealing his next project.

After months of anticipation, Sony LIV’s ‘Agent’ aired in numerous languages on March 14. Instead of finding a new audience, the film has become the subject of widespread trolling on social media. Several portions from the film have gone viral, with netizens insulting Akhil’s acting and director Surender Reddy’s effort at stylized characterization. While the team intended to present Akhil in a unique avatar with a fresh attitude, it absolutely failed, resulting in unrelenting criticism.

As the film is released in multiple languages, the trolling has spread beyond Telugu audiences, making ‘Agent’ a trendy subject for all the wrong reasons. Amidst the reaction, Akhil is preparing for a big comeback. His future film, directed by Kishore, is being meticulously planned to ensure a strong resurgence. Fans are eagerly anticipating updates, which are likely to be announced on Akhil’s birthday. All eyes are now on his ability to recover from the ‘Agent’ catastrophe.

Nani’s latest production, Court: State Vs. A Nobody is performing superbly at the box office. The film’s success also spread to the reports about making it a franchise. It is widely known that Natural Star Nani is already heading the HIT Franchise as a producer. The audiences feel that Court Universe might outshine HIT Universe in the future.

HIT Universe started with the first part starring Vishwak Sen and directed by Saiilesh Kolanu, with Nani as the producer. The universe starts on a successful note, and then HIT 2 was made with Adivi Sesh, which also became a big hit. The next part is HIT 3, in which Nani himself is the lead, and the film will be released on May 1.

Court Universe Vs. HIT Universe: Which One Will Be Bigger?

Even after HIT 3, many films can be made in the universe. Now, Nani’s production film Court State vs. A Nobody has been released in theaters and is doing massive numbers at the box office. This court concept has a huge potential of getting converted into a universe and making court dramas with other crimes/laws like POCSO.

Commercially, the Court series has more advantages than the HIT series, as the latter is limited to only a few sections of people because of strong violence and crime elements. Whereas court series can appeal to all audiences. That is why audiences feel that Court Universe might outshine HIT Universe in the future.

Court Universe – HIT Universe: A Crossover is in the Plans

If a 2nd film comes in the same Court Universe, certainly it will have a 100 Cr potential film as the first part is already doing very good business, and after the OTT release, it will be much, much bigger, and there are even chances for pan-India wide reach.

Yesterday, during the success meet of Court, Nani and Priyadarshi raised this point and stated that their film can be made into a universe, and they also have a plan for a crossover between Court and the HIT series in the future.

PonMan Movie Review – A Well-Made Emotional Drama

0

Movie: PonMan
Rating: 3/5
Cast: Basil Joseph, Lijomol Jose, Sajin Gopu, Anand Manmadhan and others
Director: Jotish Shankar
Producer: Ajith Vinayak Films
Streaming On: Jio Hotstar

Basil Joseph’s PonMan is one of the well appreciated movies from Malayalam Cinema in recent times. The film was a success at the theatrical release, and it arrived on OTT lately. Let’s find out why it has achieved good appreciation from the theatrical and OTT audiences in our review.

Story:

Ajesh, a gold dealer, loans 25 sovereigns to Bruno for his sister, Steffi’s wedding, expecting to receive all the gifts given to the bride. When the family cannot pay the money, Ajesh decides to get it by any means. The rest of the story is how he faces Steffi’s husband Mariyano, a criminal who has his reasons for stockpiling gold.

Performances:

Basil Joseph is terrific in the character of Ajesh. He shows superb command in some crucial scenes. Lijomol Jose and Sajin Gopu perform well, while Anand Manmadhan, Sandhya Rajendran, Jaya Kurup, and Deepak Parambol also make a good impact.

Analysis:

The movie takes place in Kollam and adapts GR Indugopan’s Nalanchu Cheruppakarar. The film stands out as its underdog characters seize every opportunity to rise from hardship.

Initially, it takes a while to get going, and some sluggish segments in the latter half slow things down. But the positive points work superbly for the film. The significant confrontation between Ajesh and Mariyano demonstrates Mariyano’s shift towards immorality in pursuit of financial stability, which results in audiences rooting for Ajesh.

Moreover, a seamless transition of Steffi and Ajesh’s relationship at the climax is neatly enhanced by perfect dialogues.

Positives:

  • Performances
  • Engaging Screenplay (For Most of the Parts)
  • Some Crucial Moments

Negatives:

  • Dull Feel in the Beginning
  • Stretched Moments in the Second Half

PonMan Movie Review and Verdict:

Jothish Shankar’s PonMan is a well-made emotional drama. This film captivates with convincing performances from Basil Joseph, Lijomol, and Sajin Gopu and a neatly done screenplay except for a few flaws.
