Karthi and Arvind Swamy starrer Sathyam Sundaram has managed to create quite some buzz in recent times. After the debacle of his last outing ‘Japan’ Karthi has made a complete shift from the regular commercial movies format and opted for this emotional drama. The movie’s trailer hinted that it will ride heavily on emotions but didn’t reveal any thing about the story. This mystery has created great curiosity amongst the audience. Co-starring Arvind Swamy, Meiyazhagan (Sathyam Sundaram in Telugu) received a thunderous response from its premieres, and now it is in front of the audience worldwide. Did the movie manage to win the audience’s hearts and what exactly is that movie about? Let’s find out.
Story:
It has been 22 years since Satyam (Aravind Swamy) moved out of his village to Vizag due to his father’s property disputes. Despite living in Vizag for 22 long years, his childhood memories and love for his village keep pulling him back. He gets to revisit his early years when he attends a relative’s wedding in the village. This is where he chances upon Karthi, his supposed brother-in-law and a kind-hearted, innocent man who changes his life forever. What happened during that night? who’s this mysterious man? and what kind of changes this meeting brought in Satyam’s life is what the movie follows.
Arvind Swamy’s reserved and introverted character is an extremely tough one to perform and he aces it. He brings a terrific subtle and mature energy to the movie in a role many of us would relate to. Karthi, as always is endearing and lights up the movie with his timing and innocence. His outgoing personality is a perfect foil to Arvind Swamy’s reserved nature. The scenes between the duo and their budding friendship will certainly bring a smile to your face and even move you to tears. Sri Divya as Karthi’s wife has a small but vital role and she aces it. Other characters like Jayaprakash and Raj Kiran are as dependable as ever.
Movie Analysis:
Sathyam Sundaram is a story of memories, relationships, and timeless bonds. It will certainly appeal to movie lovers who are interested in some feel-good, story-driven drama. The movie heavily relies on the characterizations of Aravind Swamy and Karthi and while their scenes are a major plus point, the run time and slow narration might not appeal to many. Technically, its a string movie majorly targeting family audiences. However, some humorous exchanges between Karthi and Arvind Swamy will surely entertain every section of the audience.
