Robinhood at big risk

0

Nithin’s Robinhood is all set to be released in theaters worldwide in a few hours. Despite having decent audio, a good trailer, and other commercial elements like a blockbuster hero-director combo and Ketika Sharma’s special song, the film failed to attract audiences. Robinhood is now at a big risk.

The film also has the most hyped cameo of cricketer David Warner. However, even with all these hype factors, the film somehow failed to get audiences’ anticipation. The film was also affected massively by competition with MAD Square.

Poor Advances for Nithin’s Robinhood

Robinhood is carrying only around 1.5 Cr in advances for opening day, and it needs a very strong WOM to get good collections. The WOM and reviews will have to be better than Mad Square to bring audiences to the theaters.

Otherwise, Nithin’s Robinhood will be at a big risk. The film needs to score 27-28 Cr for theatrical break-even, but for the producers to be in a profitable zone, the film needs to collect more than 40 Cr share due to being over budget.

Can Venky Kudmula Score a Hatrick with Robinhood?

For all these calculations, Venky Kudumula has to strike much bigger than his earlier films, Chalo and Bheeshma. We have seen many films where the advances will be slow before release.

But after the release, with the help of positive WOM, those films turned into money spinners. The positive point for the film is it is an entertainer with all commercial elements, and it is also getting released on a big festival weekend with Ugadi and Ramzan holidays.

Empuraan Day 1 Box Office Collections

0

Mollywood’s most hyped film, Empuraan (Lucifer’s Sequel), starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was released in theaters worldwide today amidst massive hype. Though the response from audiences and critics is not as great as the makers thought, Empuraan’s Day 1 Box Office Collections are excellent.

Mohanlal’s Empuraan has a monstrous opening at the Box Office

L2E opens with mixed reviews but also cracks sensational openings at the box office. The film opened with more than 15 Cr gross in Kerala, and the ROI number is expected to be in the range of 10 Cr. The total all-India gross will be around 25 Cr.

Mohanlal’s Empuraan’s Day 1 box office collections are excellent, and the worldwide gross is expected to be in the range of 65 Cr. The previous highest was 20 Cr for the Malayalam film industry, and it has been broken with a triple margin by Lucifer’s sequel.

Pan India Success Uncertain for Empuraan?

For day 2 also, the film holds very good advances. The Kerala advances hold more than 50%, which is very good on a weekday. There is no doubt that the film will be an unstoppable force till the Ramzan holiday (extended weekend), but due to the mixed reviews, the film may not achieve massive numbers in other languages, which the makers have highly anticipated.

Empuraan Movie Review: A Disappointing Sequel

0

Movie Name: L2: Empuraan
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast:
Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh and Sooraj Venjaramoodu
Director: Prithviraj Sukumaran
Produced By:
Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions
Release Date: 27th March 2025

Empuraan is the biggest budget film from Malayalam Cinema. The film stars Mohanlal in the lead role and directed by Prithiviraj Sukumaran, it is a sequel to the superhit movie Lucifer (2019). The film made waves with its advance bookings and produced a humongous hype. Let’s find out whether it lives up to the hype in our review.

Story:

Jathin Ramdas (Tovino Thomas) stuns Kerala politics by forming a new party with the hardline right-wing ASA, led by Baba Bajrangi/Balraj Patel. Stephen Nedumpally, or Lucifer, is the hope for saving God’s Own Country. The story follows Stephen’s efforts to save the state.

Performances:

Mohanlal’s talent remains unchallenged in this movie. He just walks in a cool, slow motion and says powerful lines here and there. Tovino Thomas does well, but the way his character wraps up is a letdown. Prithviraj, both director and actor, has a backstory and engages in action at the climax. He’s fine. Abhimanyu Singh is usual. Indrajit Sukumaran performed well, while Kishore and the other cast members were sufficient in their brief roles.

Analysis:

L2 Empuraan picks up from the first part’s conclusion. The screenplay allocates time for world-building and character introduction. Despite the dull moments, some parts shine, like Mohanlal’s introduction and the interval episode. The latter half starts off well but soon slips away.

The villain’s character and scenes feel simplistic and uninspiring. The film feels like an extended climax with constant tension but lacks a satisfying conclusion. Prioritizing style fails when the writing is subpar. The film does not capture audience attention, resulting in disappointment

Positives:

  • Rich Visuals
  • Initial Sequence
  • First 20 Minutes of the Second Half

Negatives:

  • Dull Taking
  • Weak Handling of Characters/Subplots
  • Inconsistent Screenplay

Empuraan Movie Review and Verdict:

Mohanlal’s Empuraan is a disappointing sequel. The film has a grand presentation, huge cast and a few good moments that will enthrall fans. However, it fails to engage thoroughly becuase of dull feel and inadequate narration.

Empuraan First Half Reviews: Here’s What Netizens Are Saying

0

Mollywood’s biggest project, Empuraan, has made the entire Indian cinema take notice with record-breaking advance bookings of ₹52 crore for its opening day, one of the highest ever for Indian cinema. The movie releases today at 6 AM, and here are some reviews shared by netizens on Twitter after the first half.

  1. DECENT So far, First half primarily focused on Character & story building . Mohanlal Entry & Interval block are so good & filled with peak elements
  2. Okay so far Similar to its previous part, the movie takes its time to build up. The first half primarily focuses on character and story development. Mohanlal’s entry and the interval block are quite impressive, filled with exciting mass elements.Prithviraj also did so good. Overall, it’s been okay so far, but the movie hasn’t quite lived up to the hype.
  3. Strictly Average 1st Half! Cinematography and Production Quality is top notch. However, the screenplay is pretty flat so far as this half feels like merely a setup and the drama is only partially engaging. Mohan Lal has very less screen time and is only in a few scenes. Needs a good 2nd half pay off.
  4. Average first half. Positives: Abraam’s intro, grand visuals, and decent interval block. Negatives: Below-par BGM and Predictable story, fewer goosebumps moments. Hoping for a stronger second half!
  5. Focused on just story building. Grand Visuals & Production Quality is evident throughout. Lalettan’s intro was fire. Deepak Dev’s scoring & Music is also impressive. Yet a high is missing.Okayish till now. Fate depends upon the second half.
  6. Need to wait patiently for 50 Mins to see Lalettan’s entry. And he got only 3 Scenes. Most Dialogues r in Hindi & English. International level Visuals & Stunts. Other than Fantastic Making, its totally Mediocre.

Going by the initial reactions, the first half has opened to below-par reports and needs a very strong second half.
