King Nagarjuna who’s busy promoting his recent release ‘Wild Dog’ recently revealed that he always wanted to make ANR biopic. Nagarjuna further revealed that due to certain inhibitions he kept away from working on it.
“I always wanted to make ANR Biopic. But I am bit scared to attempt it. But when we are afraid, we will do it much carefully. It is always on Cards,” said Nagarjuna when asked if he had any plans on working on his father’s biopic. The question was posed to him at a recent media interaction during the promotions of ‘Wild Dog’.
Tollywood has been experimenting with biopics for the last few years. Movies such as ‘Mahanati’ and NTR Kathanayakudu’ released during this time portraying the life of Savitri and NTR respectively. The trend of biopics have been prevelant in Bollywood for quite some time. It would be interesting to see if the Telugu film industry also comes up with new projects portraying life of silver screen legends.

Drushyam- 2 faster than expected
Mohanlal starrer Drishyam 2 which released earlier this year on OTT received rave reviews and surpassed expectations. The prequel was also a huge success and was remade in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The Telugu remake ‘Drushyam’ starring Venkatesh also repeated the success of the original and was well received by the audience. Now we hear that Venkatesh, who is also working on the sequel is wrapping up the shoot at an express pace.
The film has completed half of its shoot and will complete its shooting part by April end. The movie will be ready to release by June. The speed of the shoot has surprised everyone as Venkatesh is also working on other projects right now.
The release of Drushyam 2 will be planned after monitoring the present Covid situation to facilitate the family audience. Drushyam was well received by families and the makers are hoping to repeat the same yet again. Venkatesh will be next seen in ‘Narappa’ which incidentally is also a remake of Dhanush starrer 2019 blockbuster ‘Asuran’.
Akshay Kumar tests Covid positive
B- Town got another Covid scare as superstar Akshay Kumar tested positive for Covid. Akshay took to Twitter to share the news of his health update on Sunday. The actor has placed himself in-home quarantine and is taking all necessary precautions.
The 53-year-old actor who is one of the busiest on Bollywood is gearing up for multiple releases this year. He will be next seen in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama Suryavanshi. Akshay’s Covid diagnosis happened when he was shooting for Ram Setu. He will be seen playing an archeologist in this adventure film. Akshay will also be seen in films such as Prithviraj, Bachchan Pandey, and Raksha Bandhan.
Recently, Bollywood celebs such as Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Paresh Rawal, among others also tested positive for COVID-19.
Kajal’s act shocks netizens
Kajal Aggarwal who is currently busy shooting for Chiranjeevi starrer Acharya has shocked all with her latest act. Kajal’s act of spontaneity where she helped her fan on Twitter with an amount of Rs 1,00,000/- for her studies has moved all.
It all started when one of Kajal’s fans contacted a Kajal fan handle on Twitter- Hail Kajalism. The fan requested the page to help her with her situation. Apparently, the fan named Suma had lost her job recently and was an M Pharm student who needed funds to continue her education.
Seeing the request, her fans had successfully passed on the message to the actress. Kajal swiftly took action on the request and transferred Rs 1 lakh to the account of the girl much to everyone’s delight.
Later account named Amani Reddy even posted the screenshot of the transaction confirming the noble deed.
Kajal’s act has garnered great applause from all the sections. Netizens applauded the Acharya actress for her timely help. The act has once again proven to be a great example of an ideal bond between a star and their fans.
Corona scare for Vakeel Saab actress
After long delays and postponements due to Covid enforced lockdowns films have started undergoing regular shoots. Even with all the safety precautions and following guidelines in place, there seems to be no respite for industry from Corona.
Earlier this week it was revealed that the leading director and producer of Tollywood both were reported as Corona positive. And now, Nivetha Thomas who is busy promoting her upcoming release Vakeel Saab has tested positive. She took to Twitter to share the update to her fans and followers on the situation.
The Vakeel Saab actress joins a list of industry insiders to have tested positive ever since the pandemic broke out last year. Tollywood has already suffered a lot from the pandemic and a number of releases have been differed due to it. While some movies are facing delays in VFX, others are facing delays in shooting schedules.

Vishwak all set for a big-budget film
Vishwak Sen who is gearing up for the release of ‘Paagal’ is reportedly all set to venture into big league now. Post ‘Paagal’ Vishwak will be working in an unnamed big-budget film. Backed by Asian Cinemas, this movie is expected to budget around Rs 15 crores.
Sen, whose last film Hit: The First Case was made on a budget of roughly Rs 6 crores is now eying for bigger films. It was apparently for this movie that Vishwak chose to not work on the sequel of his successful ‘Hit’. Adivi Sesh will now be reprising the role of Vikram Krishna in ‘Hit: The Second Case’
Meanwhile, Vishwak is busy with promoting ‘Paagal‘ which is set to release on 1st May. Starring Simran Choudary and Nivetha Pethuraj, ‘Paagal’ is a romantic comedy directed by Naresh Kuppili. Dil Raju is bankrolling the project with Radhan providing the music.
Bigg Boss to start from July 1st week?
As per reports, the popular Telugu reality show Bigg Boss will start its 5th season from July 1st week. Nagarjuna will continue to be the host this season as well and works have started already for the upcoming season.
The team is in talks with some actors from the Tollywood along with some popular celebrities. The makers of Bigg Boss show are also planning to include more female contestants this time. The show’s first season was hosted by Nani followed by Jr NTR for second season. The third and fourth season were hosted by Nagarjuna who will continue this year as well.
The first season of the show was won by Shiva Balaji while Kaushal won the second season. This was followed by Rahul Shipligunj won the third season. In the last season, Abhijeet was declared the winner.
Uppena completes 50 days run
Romantic drama Uppena completed its 50 days run with 2 direct centres at Tagarapuvalasa & Kadiri. The movie featuring debutants Vaishnav Tej, Keerthi Shetty and Vijay Sethupathy received rave reviews from all sections. Released on 12th February after a long delay due to Covid, it will street digitally from 14th April.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Uppena follows the story of Aasi (Vaishnav Tej), a fisherman who falls in love with Bebamma (Keerthy Shetty). What happens next when Keerthi’s father Raayanam (Sethupathi) finds this forms the crux of the story.
The movie that was launched in 2020 generated great buzz through its chartbuster music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Uppena completed 50 days run continuing Tollywood’s victory run this year.
From its opening day, it had an excellent performance at the box-office by exceeding trade’s expectations. Theatrical rights valued at 24Crs and it has recovered more than 200%. Uppena has collected 47 Crs from the Telugu States and the Worldwide share is close to 52Crs.
