RRR: The riskiest project of Rajamouli’s career

0

SS Rajamouli’s RRR has created a massive buzz all across the nation. The film has every ingredient of a mass commercial blockbuster and if the promotions are anything to go by, the entire unit has massive confidence in the content. However, despite so many advantages, the project is still the riskiest of Rajamouli’s career with a lot riding on it.

Big budget entertainers are not a new thing for the ace director. His earlier projects like Baahubali 1 & 2, Magadheera, and Eega had a lot of risk elements. Despite the risk elements, these films were made with massive budgets. The movies were even released with deficits but turned out hugely profitable to the producers on their release. All these films were blockbusters and Industry Hits and made SS Rajamouli a name to reckon with on national level.

In case of RRR, the situation was expected to be quite different. The risk element was supposed to be lesser than before. With stars of the caliber of Tarak and Charan in hands and a successful pan-India track record, RRR was expected to have a safer path for its release. With Rajamouli’s market pan-India hovering around Rs 500-600 crores, RRR was expected to release with a table profit.

However, because of the Corona-infused lockdown and AP government tickets issue, the film is at massive risk. The constant delays have caused a spike in interest rates and tickets issues in AP have brought down the pre-release bizz.

Adding to this, the new variant has caused many states to impose occupancy restrictions and night curfews. This would also impact the movie business on a pan-India level. The tension prevailing before the RRR release is probably that most Rajamouli has faced before any of his earlier movies.

Telangana government gives a green signal for hike in ticket prices

0

The ticket prices issue has taken a contrasting route in the two Telugu states. While the pricing issue in AP is in court right now, the Telangana government on the other hand has given a green signal to hike the prices.

The Telangana government has issued a G.O which has given guidelines to theaters and multiplexes about the increase in prices as per the seating class. The minimum price for tickets in an AC theatre is now Rs 50/- + GST while the maximum price is Rs 150/-+ GST.

Coming to multiplexes, the minimum pricing decided is at Rs 100/- +GST while the max pricing is at Rs 250/-+ GST. In case of recliners, the maximum pricing has been established as Rs 300+ GST.

For non-AC theatres, the minimum price set is Rs 30/-+ GST while the maximum ticket price is Rs 70/-+ GST. The maintenance charges have also been set as Rs 3/- in case of non-AC theatres and Rs 5/- in case of AC theatres.

AP ticket prices issue: Tension mounts for Tollywood Sankranti biggies

0

The ticket prices issues in Andhra Pradesh is turning out to be quite tense for the upcoming Sankranti releases. After the government appealed against the High Court’s decision to strike out its earlier order, the court has scheduled January 3rd as the next hearing date. Andhra Pradesh government has time till the next hearing to share its complete stance on the ticket issue.

Jaganmohan Reddy has been quite firm on this move and has not been willing to go back on the price rates for quite some time. The G.O 35 had put the producers and exhibitors in a spot of bother as they are already reeling under losses due to Covid enforced lockdown.

The AP High Court had earlier dismissed the G.O 35 that regulated the ticket prices in the state. The G.O was issued in April much to the disappointment of the filmmakers.

However, just a day after the striking out of the G.O.35, the AP government approached the court. The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to appeal against this decision of the High Court in what it is terming as an anti-people.

The next hearing of 3rd January is too close to the Sankranti release and with RRR scheduled on 7th January and Radhe Shyam set to release on 14th January, it looks like a tense next few days for the makers.

In case things don’t work out in favour of the makers, there are reports of the makers approaching the Supreme Court and even differing the release in Andhra Pradesh till the issue resolves.
