Manchu Vishnu is the real politician in cinema industry?

The MAA Elections held last year created massive noise and were one of the most intensely contested ones in recent times. Both the sides were at each other’s throats and there was constant mudslinging and even allegations of cheating on the Manchu Vishnu panel. Finally, it was Vishnu’s side that prevailed over Prakash Raj’s side.

After winning the MAA President’s post, Manchu Vishnu made many statements and even stated that he would meet the CM’s of the two states to sort out Tollywood’s issues. He made statements where he promised to be at the forefront at the time of any crisis in the Tollywood fraternity. However, that seems to be quite far from true.

Recently he informed the panel members that he would call for a press meet and address the issues that they are going to take care of. However, there has been no update on that as well. No substantial step has been taken by the MAA president to tackle the ongoing ticket prices issue in Andhra Pradesh. Even though he holds a decent personal rapport with the AP CM, Vishnu has not taken any proactive steps to even meet the government authorities.

It needs to be seen how much time Manchu Vishnu will take for a press meet and implement the promises he has made. Usually, such things are done by politicians who after winning the elections forget all the promises. Vishnu is following a similar mode here and this is why many are calling him the politician of Tollywood.

Telugu version of Vikram’s Mahaan now streaming on OTT

Vikram and his son Dhruv Vikram starrer Vikram Mahaan is now streaming on OTT. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, this film has opted for a direct digital release on Amazon Prime Video. The film has released in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam and as ‘Maha Purusha’ in Kannada. 

This action thriller follows the story of Gandhi Mahaan’s (Vikram) life at various stages. Like Karthik Subbaraj’s previous movie Jagame Thandhiram dives deep into the life of a gangster and how his life evolves.

Mahaan stars Simran, Bobby Simha, and Vani Bhojan in key roles. Santosh Narayanan has composed the music while Vivek Harsha has edited this gangster drama.

Mahaan is Vikram’s landmark 60th film and marks his return to screens after 3 years. His last release Mr. KK was an average fare at the box office. This time, however, Vikram is confident of tasting success.

Ravi Teja’s Khiladi Hindi Success Is Crucial For Producer

After the massive success of Krack in 2021, Ravi Teja’s market value has risen to great heights. Fans and the general Telugu audience are eager to see what Ravi Teja brings next after Krack. The first look posters and glimpses from Ravi Teja’s next movie Khiladi have only further raised expectations from the film.

The producer of the film Koneru Satyanarayana Rao has said that the movie has been shot on a budget of 60 crores. If this is true then it is impossible to recover this amount back with the Telugu release alone. This is due to the occupancy restrictions and low ticket rates in AP.

The Telugu theatrical rights have been sold at 25 crores and the movie may fetch another 25+ crores with OTT and satellite rights. Even then, the movie will not be profitable. Hence it is extremely crucial for the Hindi version of Khiladi to do some decent numbers also. Pen Movies are in charge of the Hindi release of the film.

It is known that Ravi Teja holds a strong market in the two Telugu states but whether he will be able to attract the North audiences is to be seen. The film also stars Dimple Hayathi, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Anasuya, and Arjun Sarja among others. Ramesh Varma is the director of the movie. DSP is the music director of the film.

Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju OTT Release Date Locked

Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju was released in theatres on 14th January on the occasion of Sankranthi. With decent hype and no occupancy restrictions, the film opened to tremendous weekend numbers. However, the film saw a massive drop in the coming days and ended up as an average venture at the box office.

Bangarraju is now finally arriving on OTT. The film is releasing on the ZEE5 OTT platform on 18th February 2022. The rural action drama is a sequel to the super hit family entertainer Soggade Chinni Nayana. The movie was received well by family audiences but right after the Sankranthi weekend, it was dismissed.

Apart from Nagarjuna, the film also stars Naga Chaitanya, Krithi Shetty, and Ramya Krishna in important roles. Kalyan Krishna Kurasala is the director of the film. Annapurna Studios and ZEE5 Studios have co-produced the movie. Anup Rubens is the music director of the movie.

Keerthy Suresh’s Good Luck Sakhi OTT release date

Keerthy Suresh’s Good Luck Sakhi was released in theatres on 28th January 2022. The film failed to attract audiences into the theatres due to poor word of mouth and rising COVID-19 cases in the country. The film also performed terribly at the box office collections and was termed as a disaster.

The rural sports drama will now stream on Amazon Prime Video from February 12th, 2022. The story revolves around Sakhi, a happy-go-lucky girl who is forced into the sport of shooting. How she overcomes the odds to stand on top forms the rest of the story.

The film is supported by an able cast of Jagapathi Babu, Aadi Pinasetty, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Rama Prabha among others. Nagesh Kukunoor, who is known for his iconic film Iqbal has directed the film. Sudheer Chandra is the producer of the movie.

Tollywood big heroes meeting with YS Jagan tomorrow

In order to bring closure to the ongoing ticket pricing issue in Andhra Pradesh, a delegation of Tollywood big heroes is going to meet AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy tomorrow on 10th February. Chiranjeevi is likely to meet Jagan along with Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Prabhas, and Nagarjuna.

A new G.O. on the tickets pricing issue is expected to be released on the same day. Earlier last month Mega Star Chiranjeevi met Jaganmohan Reddy over the issue.

The meeting was held over lunch in Amaravati where the duo discussed various industry issues including the G.O 35. This G.O. has been troubling Tollywood for the past many months.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Megastar revealed that the meeting was quite fruitful and that he seemed quite optimistic about the way things have conspired. Chiranjeevi said that the CM assured him that he will re-look into the G.O 35 and will bring necessary amendments to the order. He further added that in 7-10 days the industry will receive a favorable outcome and that it was time to show some patience.

However, no solution has come forth on the issue till now. The industry insiders are hoping that this big delegation will bring some relief at least now.

Thaman refuses to take DSP brand

SS Thaman and Devi Sri Prasad are the topmost music directors in Tollywood at the moment. Both the composers have got great mutual admiration for each other’s work and share a positive camaraderie as well. While there have been occasional reports of certain rivalry between the two, they have shut down the rumours time and again.

In fact, the duo even appeared together on Jr NTR’s reality quiz show Evaru Meelo Koteeswarulu together in the celebrity special episode. The two music directors had a blast on the sets and the episode was also well received.

Now, Thaman has done something that has yet again cemented the friendly bond between the two. At the launch of Romeo Juliet song from Ghani, Varun Tej called Thaman a ‘Rockstar’- a monicker associated with DSP. Thaman immediately stepped ahead and had a friendly tussle with Varun Tej expressing his refusal for the title.

Varun clarified that anyone playing great music can be called a Rockstar to which Thaman expressed his polite refusal.

Debutant director Kiran Korapati is directing Ghani. Saiee Manjrekar, Sunil Shetty, Upendra, and Jagapathy Babu will be essaying key roles in this film.  Sidhu Mudda and Allu Bobby have jointly produced the film under the banners of Renaissance Pictures and Allu Bobby Company.

Prabhas’ Project K shooting update

Prabhas Project K is now picking up pace and the makers are keen to run through the remaining portions at the earliest. The film’s next schedule will start in February 2nd week. Both Prabhas and Deepika Padukone will be a part of this schedule.

Currently, Prabhas has a bunch of projects in hand along with an impending release of Radhe Shyam. After the release of this romantic drama, the Young Rebel Star will be seen in Salaar, Adipurush, and Spirit along with Project K. All these films are pan India biggies and are one of the most awaited projects.

Prabhas’ Project K is billed to be post-apocalyptic science fiction and is being made on a massive budget of Rs 400 crores. Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is also playing a key role in this film. Nag Ashwin is directing this film while Ashwini Dutt is producing the project under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. Mickey J Meyer will compose tunes for this ‘pan-world’ project.

The film will be a big-budget extravaganza and the makers are erecting massive sets in Hyderabad to capture the essence of the world of science fiction.

Copyright issues for Thaman’s music for Bheemla Naayak

Thaman’s music for Bheemla Nayak has fetched the composer great accolades. Many have appreciated Thaman for the fresh compositions and unique instrumentation. The ace music director has also retained some tunes from the original film Ayyappannum Koshiyum. The music for the original was composed by Jakes Bejoy. However, this has now created a massive controversy.

Reportedly, despite using his tunes, due credit to Jakes Bijoy was not given in the Bheemla Nayak album. Thaman’s music is now a massive hit and has turned out to be a great asset to the movie.

Bijoy however, is unhappy for not receiving any credits for the film and is planning to approach I.P.R.S (The Indian Performing Right Society Limited) for the copyrights issue.

It now needs to be seen how SS Thaman responds to the matter. Bheemla Nayak is all set to hit the screens on 25th February.

Bheemla Nayak also stars Rana Daggubati, Nithya Menen, Samyuktha Menon, Murali Sharma, and Brahmanandam among others. Trivikram has written the screenplay for the film. Saagar K Chandra has directed the film.
