Balakrishna in top form, another star director in talks for a film

0

Balakrishna is on a signing spree after the massive success of Akhanda. Currently, Balayya is working on NBK107 with Gopichand Malineni. The first look of this project was released recently and garnered a great response.

The director has confirmed that this is going to be an action entertainer with mass elements to suit Balayya’s image. Gopichand Mallineni has done extensive research for the script. Shruti Haasan will play the female lead in this film.

After NBK107, there is a project with director Anil Ravipudi as well. Anil has narrated the complete script to Balakrishna who has okayed it. True to Balayya’s style, this movie is going to be an out-and-out mass action film. Anil Ravipudi is leaving no stone unturned to highlight its commercial elements and bring out the best.

‘This film will be different from all my previous movies and Balayya will be shown in a totally different avatar,’ said Anil Ravipudi in an interview.

Now there are reports emerging of another interesting combo. Reportedly, Koratala Siva is keen on a project with the ‘Akhanda’ star. The duo is currently in talks and if this project gets confirmed, it will indeed be a superb lineup for Balayya.

Bheemla Nayak pre-release event was undoubtedly a huge success. The event gained record viewership on YouTube and the social media was abuzz with Bheemla Nayak trending all over. The Yousufguda Police Grounds witnessed a grand spectacle that will be remembered for a long time. Meanwhile, actress Poonam Kaur like other social media users took to Twitter and made some strong comments about the event. In a cryptic manner, the actress first commented on the political flavour of the event.

Politics turns entertaining, Entertainment turns political,” she tweeted.

The actress later made a direct attack on Ram Gopal Varma who had Tweeted positively about Pawan Kalyan’s speech. She quoted the director’s tweet and made some strong comments on that as well.

This tweet was an attack on Trivikram as well. Trivikram chose to maintain a low profile during the entire event and restrained himself to one corner. Poonam, in past as well has been pretty vocal about her issues with Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram. While the duo has always maintained silence on statements from Poonam Kaur, it needs to be seen if RGV responds to this jibe or not.

Bheemla Nayak will release on 25th February. KTR and Talasani Srinivas Yadav along with cast and crew of the film were present at the event.

Direct satires on AP Government in Bheemla Nayak pre-release event

0

The Bheemla Nayak pre-release event turned out to be quite a celebration. The event saw the presence of political and Tollywood bigwigs. Naturally, with the presence of Pawan Kalyan and KTR along with Talasani Srinivas Yadav, the stage took a political turn.

“Telangana government supports the Telugu cinema industry in all aspects with special shows, ticket hikes being provided. We are ready to do anything for the cinema industry,” said the Telangana Cinematography minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav.

This is in direct contrast to the condition in Andhra Pradesh. The government in AP is yet to issue a new G.O on updated ticket rates. The government officials in AP have also warned the exhibitors against hiking ticket prices. The authorities have also planned for special checks and have warned that violators will be punished.

“Thanks to KTR sir for all the support to the Telugu cinema, Hyderabad will soon become an Indian cinema capital,” said Rana at the Bheemla Nayak pre-release event. This statement from Rana comes rights after Jagan’s recent invitation to Tollywood heroes to start making movies is Vizag.

There was also a mashup played at the event that featured a bit from Gabbar Singh. “Vaadiki bayapadi moostara , Naaku Bayapadi teestara. Manalani evadra aapedi,” were the lyrics of the mashup.

Pawan Kalyan, who is one of the most vocal critics of the AP Government, focussed just on the film and thanked the Telangana government. “Wholehearted thanks to CM KCR and Telangana Government for understanding our problems and encouraging the Telugu Film Industry,” said the Powerstar.

0

A few days ago it was confirmed that actor/director SJ Suryah has come onboard for Ram Charan’s upcoming project with Shankar. SJ Suryah will be playing a negative role in this film. As per reports, Shankar is making a comeback to political entertainer genre and the Tamil actor will play the role of CM in this project.

This news has added great hype to the much-awaited project. Shankar’s films with a political backdrop like Sivaji, Mudhalvan (Oke Okkadu) have been massive hits. Fans are expecting something similar this time around as well.

Currently, the third schedule of RC15 is going on and Ram Charan, Anjali, Srikanth will be shooting in East Godavari villages for the next couple of weeks. Dil Raju is producing the film while SS Thaman will compose the music for the film. Kiara Advani will play the lead role opposite Ram Charan in RC 15.

Karthik Subbaraj has written the film’s story. Prior to this, he wrote blockbuster films like Pizza, Jigarthanda, Petta among others. This is the first time he is writing for some other director. While the story has been penned by the young director, Shankar has written the screenplay and dialogues for the project.

Valimai review: Action-packed one-man show by Ajith

0

Movie: Valimai
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast: Ajith, Huma Qureshi, Karthikeya, Yogi Babu
Director: H Vinoth
Produced By: Boney Kapoor
Release Date: February 24th, 2022

The long wait for Ajith fans has finally come to an end with Valimai hitting the screens today. The trailer promised some edge-of-seat actions sequences with Ajith making a comeback to the cop role. Director H Vinoth had earlier revealed that ‘Thala’ expressed jubilation at the movie screening and said he was proud of the film. While the cast and crew are confident of its success, let’s see if the film has enough to catch the fancy of the audience.

Story: Chennai is on a high alert with a notorious bike gang led by Wolfranga (Karthikeya) wreaking havoc. The bike gang is involved in a number of illegal activities and there’s much more to their operations than it meets the eye. Enter ACP Arjun (Ajith) who has vowed to bring an end to the bike gang. During this deadly operation of bringing down the gang, Arjun faces several unexpected situations. How he overcomes them is what follows over the next three hours.

Performances: Valimai is an out-and-out Ajith film. His screen presence and dynamism bring a realistic touch to the proceedings. In a way, ACP Arjun Kumar is an extension of Ajith Kumar’s real-life persona. He is a straightforward individual, a skilled biker and a man with conviction. Ajith brings these elements to life quite convincingly. Roshini (Huma Qureshi) does well as a cop but has a limited role. Karthikeya as Wolfranga has bagged the role of his career as an antagonist in such a big movie. His look and performance in the action sequences are a great plus to the film

Analysis: While Valimai is a great-looking film and has got the technical aspects in its place, its writing lets it down, especially in the second half. The film looks dragged in parts and with a runtime of three hours, it can test the patience of some viewers. Special mention must go to the action director Sergey Golovkin for giving some of the best action scenes in Indian cinema. The pre-interval and post-interval action sequence elevates the movie to another level

Plus Points:

  • Ajith Kumar
  • Action Sequences
  • Production Values

Minus Points:

  • Second half
  • Unnecessary Melodrama
  • Weak writing

Verdict: Valimai could have been an amazing action flick had it been for a short runtime. The production values and action sequences and the basic premise lay a great foundation. However, the sentiment scenes aimed at a family audience break the flow. A less preachy tone would have made this film an enjoyable experience.

Chiranjeevi and other stars are just jokers in Jagan’s mindgame

0

The AP tickets pricing issue has taken more twists and turns than a regular Tollywood thriller. Right from day one, there have been countless statements, meetings, and committees set up to solve a problem that was created by the government itself. Chiranjeevi and other film industry bigwigs entered the field to resolve the issue which still hasn’t got any solution.

There was no problem with ticket rates for the AP government before Vakeel Saab. The whole issue started because of personal rivalries. The AP government put the entire industry in a difficult position due to its ego. With no other choice, multiple meetings were conducted on the issue, and top producers and the stars started requesting the government for their cooperation.

Jaganmohan Reddy used this situation well and invited Chiranjeevi to discuss on industry problems. He even promised that the issues will be sorted out during their first meeting . Soon after this, the AP Chief Minister invited all the leading stars for a meeting and projected himself as a well-wisher of the industry. Jagan again promised speedy solutions and in return demanded a few things in return such as shifting the TFI to Vizag.

Post this meeting, everyone expected the revised GO to be released in one week or two. Now, it’s been three weeks since the high-profile meeting and there is still no update. In addition to this, his government has instructed the theater owners to follow the GO strictly for Bheemla Naayak.

In the end, the person who created the problems is getting praise from the industry for taking the initiative to solve the issue. This is happening despite everyone already knowing Jagan directly targeted Pawan Kalyan movies due to personal vendetta.

The GO will be out after Bheemla Nayak’s first-week run. In the meantime, the troupe of Chiranjeevi and co. were taken for a ride for political brownies by Jagan who played a mind game with our stars

Profits Of Low Budget Films Are Bigger Than Pan-India Films For Makers

0

Usually, when producers and makers invest in a high-budget film, they take huge risks in the hope of huge rewards. But more often than not, these movies end up failing to recover the money spent and makers face huge losses.

For these Pan-India and high-budget films, the films always release in deficits mostly. We have seen this for Bahubali-1, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, and Pushpa: The Rise also.

Except for Bahubali-1, all the other films have failed to give huge profits to the makers. Although Pushpa did immensely well in the North, it posted average collections in the Telugu states. Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy was shot on a budget of 270+ crores but failed to recover its money back and ended up as a flop.

But if we take a look at low-budget films, they are highly profitable for the makers. This is the reason why ace producers invest in small-scale movies so that they can use the profits for big-budget films. DJ Tillu was shot on a meager budget of 10 crores and is currently running at profits of 4+crores.

Pawan Kalyan’s recent films, Vakeel Saab and Bheemla Nayak are prime examples of this. Both the films were made on a budget of 100 crores, 150 crores including Pawan Kalyan’s remuneration and movie rights. The makers have acquired table profits for both these movies.

Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevaru is also a prime example of this. It was shot on a low budget and the returns were huge. Now Prabhas is also making a film with Maruthi on a low budget. Despite the content in the film, the makers will get ample table profits.

Bad Trailer Cut Doesn’t Affect Bheemla Nayak Bookings Rage

0

Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak trailer was released yesterday and received mixed responses from audiences. Even the fans of Pawan Kalyan are disappointed with the trailer cut. The trailer was oddly cut in portions and the music from Thaman, who is usually very dependable was average at best.

But to the happiness of the makers, the trailer has not affected the advanced bookings of the film. The advance bookings are super strong and shows are filling rapidly in all major and minor territories.

The Nizam bookings were opened yesterday and almost sold out immediately. Most of the shows are sold out for the opening day and the weekend bookings are also looking super strong.

In the USA, the pre-sales are expected to cross the half-million dollar mark by today or latest by tomorrow. Things are looking extremely positive for Bheemla Nayak so far. The movie will undoubtedly have a terrific opening weekend but it is to be seen whether it will have a successful run after the weekend.

Bheemla Nayak also stars Rana Daggubati, Nithya Menen, Samyuktha Menon, and Murali Sharma among others. Trivikram has written the screenplay and Saagar K Chandra is the director of the film. S. Naga Vamsi is the producer of the film and Thaman S is the music director.

AP Government targets Pawan Kalyan again for Bheemla Nayak !!

0

Pawan Kalyan has been one of the staunchest critics of the Andhra Pradesh government for quite some time. The Janasena chief has time and again questioned the misgovernance of the AP government and has faced consequences on his films.

Just like last year’s Vakeel Saab, this year his much-awaited Bheemla Nayak has also become a victim of political vendetta. The ticket price issue was resolved and the government had promised that the recommendations of AP Ticket Pricing Committee will be brought into implementation.

However, with just two days to go for the release, it appears that the new orders will not come anytime sooner. The government officials have instructed the theatre owners and distributors to strictly follow the GO 35. The new orders might come in the first week of March and will surely impact the film’s opening collections in AP.

In stark contrast to this, the Telangana government has permitted 5 shows for Bheemla Nayak till March 11th. It would be interesting to see how Pawan Kalyan reacts to this vendetta politics by the AP Government. With the pre-release event scheduled to happen today, Powerstar’s speech is surely going to be a fiery one! Bheemla Nayak is set to release on February 25th.
