Mega Fans upset with Allu Arjun offscreen behaviour

Allu Arjun’s meteoric rise to stardom has undoubtedly been a result of his hard work. But, the seeds to it were sown by Mega Star Chiranjeevi. It was in his uncle’s movie ‘Daddy’ that Allu Arjun made his first on-screen appearance in 2001. 2 years later ‘ Bunny ‘ made his debut as a lead actor with Gangotri.

Throughout these years, Bunny has shown huge reverence and respect for Megastar Chiranjeevi. However, off late, the tides seem to have changed. Mega Fans feel his behaviour has undergone a drastic change after some big hits. Earlier the ‘Pushpa’ actor used to give straight retort and directed people to address Chiranjeevi as ‘Sir’.

It was during this phase that Allu Arjun openly stated that he wanted to see Ram Charan in the position of Mega Star. But, it seems now that he himself is vying for that position and this has not gone down well with many Mega Fans.

The ‘Cheppanu Brother’ incident where he refused to acknowledge Pawan Kalyan on stage has created this massive dent. Mega Fans also state that any movie events of late where Allu Arjun is invited, the fans create quite a ruckus raising slogans and the Icon Star hardly does much towards that.

Yesterday, when Megastar Chiranjeevi posted a Tweet regarding testing Covid positive, Bunny’s reply stunned many. He responded to his uncle without anything such as sir or ‘mavayya’ as he usually does. This incident has added further fuel to the fire.

Story: Eesho (Prithviraj) and Anna (Kalyani) are in a live-in relationship and Anna unexpectedly turns out to be pregnant one fine day. Just then, Eesho’s parents John Kattadi (Mohanlal) and Anna (Meena) have another shock in store for them. What’s that shock and how did they work towards clearing all these new turn of events forms the rest of the film.

Performances: Mohanlal and Prithviraj have shared excellent rapo in the film and it is a treat to watch both of them have so much fun together. It’s a cakewalk role for both and they have ensured that the viewers experience the fun that they had on sets. Mohanlal especially is incredibly energetic and adorable as someone who takes everything on a positive and jolly note. Meena is neat in her role and easily recreated a good chemistry with Mohanlal. Kalyani Priyadarshan is cute and also delivered a very neat performance in all the funny and serious scenes. Lalu Alex is the silent show-stealer in this film. His funny reactions and expressions were hilarious and he is one of the very important pillars for this film with respect to the entertainment quotient. Kaniha was apt as his wife. Soubin Shahir and Unni Mukundan are decent in cameos. There is also a very tiny cameo from a notable young actress in the climax.

Analysis: The story of the film is similar to Bollywood film Badhaai Ho and also Mohanlal’s earlier classic Pavithram. However, what makes this film special is the casting and it’s the entertainment factor. Watching Mohanlal and Prithviraj share screen space as father and son is a feast in itself and the presence of Meena and Kalyani are an added advantage. There are a good number of hilarious moments and fun sequences in the film. However, the film is a bit too long considering that it is on the predictable side. It’s easily guessable as to how things will happen and finally end so there is no surprise factor at all. The film intends to just entertain and if we treat the film that way, then it’s not easy to be disappointed. In comparison, the first half is on the more entertaining side than the second. The colourful visuals and pleasant music helped in adding to the feel good vibe of the film. Editing could have been better as some scenes could have been trimmed easily to sharpen the runtime. Dialogues were fun and melodrama was kept within limits which was a relief. Prithviraj has done a commendable job as a director and it’s the writing which could have been sharper, less convenient and more impressive on a whole.

Verdict: Bro Daddy is a feel good family drama that is good enough for timepass viewing but is a tad too long and lacks sharp and fresh writing. Can be considered a harmless one-time watch with controlled expectations.

2022 Sankranti Tollywood Movies break Decade long successful streak

Sankranti season has been one of the most awaited seasons for TFI for many years. The audience also eagerly awaits Sankranti Tollywood Movies throughout the year. The festive season, over the years, has given a number of blockbusters and industry Hits and has emerged as a highly profitable period.

However, this Sankranti has been a different story altogether. After 10 years not even a single release managed to get past the Rs 50 crore share mark. If we just go back a decade, In 2012 Businessman and Bodyguard were the Sankranti Tollywood movies. The combined share of the two films was close to Rs 60 crores. From 2012 onwards Sankranti season Tollywood movies have collected Rs 50Cr+ shares, Rs 100Cr+ shares.

Few festive seasons have even given Rs 300 crores and even Rs 450 crores combined shares of all releases. This time though all records were expected to be shattered with Sankranti Tollywood Movies for 2022 being RRR, Radhe Shyam, and Bheemla Nayak.

However, as fate would have it, all the movies had to be pushed due to Covid and limited theatre occupancy. This led to a new crop of Sankranti releases such as Bangarraju, Rowdy Boys, Hero, Super Machi.

All these movies failed to set the box office on fire and the combined share of all films is less than Rs 50 Crore. These four movies had a combined share of around Rs 40 crores with 90% of that coming from Bangarraju alone.

The failure of these films hence shattered a long-standing success streak of Sankranti Tollywood Movies

Hero Movie Revenue Shocks Jayadev Galla

Ashok Galla’s debut movie Hero released on the occasion of Sankranthi. Despite the massive promotions around the film, the movie failed at the box office.

The film was made on a huge budget and was produced by his mother, Padmavathi Galla, under Amara Raja Media and Entertainment Banner. Jayadev Galla, the father of Ashok Galla spent big bucks on the film to give his son the grandest launch possible.

But this has proved to be shocking for Jayadev Galla, as the film has failed terribly at the box office. Combining both theatrical and non-theatrical business, the movie has been unable to recover even 25% of the budget.

Apart from Ashok Galla, the movie also stars Niddhi Aggerwal, Jagapathi Babu, Naresh, Vennela Kishore, and a terrific ensemble cast. Sriram Aditya is the director of the movie. Ghibran is the music director of the film.

Mega Power Star Ram Charan will be gracing the pre-release event of Good Luck Sakhi today evening in Hyderabad. Interestingly, it was Mega Star Chiranjeevi who was supposed to attend the event as the Chief Guest. However, with Chiru testing Covid positive earlier today, he chose to drop out.

The team had even shared the news of Chiranjeevi’s arrival as the Chief Guest. However, Ram Charan stepped in much to the film unit’s relief.

Radhe Shyam was originally scheduled to release on 14th January 2022, but due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in India, the makers put off the release to a later date. Since then, fans of Prabhas have been waiting for the announcement of a new release date.
