Award-winning director Nagesh Kukunoor is making his Telugu directorial debut with the sports drama Good Luck Sakhi. The film stars Keerthy Suresh in the lead role and the trailer looked promising. The film was completed last year and was mostly shot in Vikarabad and Hyderabad. Keerthy Suresh’s new look as a rural girl and Aadhi as ‘Goli Raju’ look promising in the movie. But, does it have enough to hold the audience’s attention? Let’s find out.

Story: Good Luck Sakhi follows the life of Sakhi, a young girl from rural Telangana who is often chided for bringing bad luck everywhere. This belief of the villagers is further strengthened after her fiance dies just before their wedding. While the entire village believes in Sakhi’s bad luck, Goli Raju (Aadhi Pinnisetty), a local theatre actor doesn’t give much heed to others and encourages Sakhi to take up shooting. Jagapathi Babu plays a coach who helps Sakhi achieve her dream and prove her detractors wrong.

Performances: Keerthy Suresh as Sakhi gave a good performance and looks natural on screen. She picked up the nuances of the local language quite well and fits the role of Sakhi quite well. Jagapathy Babu and Aadhi also did a decent job however, the flat screenplay and lack of engaging storytelling don’t allow the actors to do much. The dull writing and rushed editing make the movie viewing experience quite unsatisfactory. Devi Sri Prasad appears to be the only technician who has given his 100 %.

Analysis: Good Luck Sakhi had the massive advantage of being a solo release. With no film coming up for the next couple of weeks, it has a free ground to rake in as much as possible. However, rushed editing and dubbing along with inaudible dialogues due to rushed work make the film viewing experience quite sub-par. The makers should have focussed on the technical aspects before releasing the film.

Verdict: Good Luck Sakhi has a good scope for being an entertaining sports drama. There is enough scope for comedy and emotion but screenplay restricts it. Everything happens and ends abruptly with no reason. The film lacks the punch that is needed in the sports drama. Even shooting scenes did not have an impact and could have been captured and presented way better.

Dil Raju Teams Up With Ace Director For Web Series

Dil Raju is undeniably the topmost producer in the Telugu Film Industry. He has produced some of the most successful films to ever be made in Tollywood. He currently has a lot of biggies lined up as well. Dil Raju is producing the Ram Charan magnum opus #RC15 and also the Thalapthy Vijay project with Vamsi Paidapally.

He is now teaming up with ace director Harish Shankar for a web series titled ‘ATM’. Harish Shankar has written the story for the film. The story revolves around a bank robbery in the city of Hyderabad. ZEE5 is also producing the project along with Dil Raju. The series will premiere directly on the ZEE5 OTT Platform.

Chandra Mohan is the screenplay writer as well as the director of the film. The remaining cast and crew of the film will be announced very soon.

Apart from this web series, Harish Shankar is also working on the script for Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh. This is Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar’s second project after the blockbuster Gabbar Singh. The first look poster of the film promises another mass feast for Pawan Kalyan fans.

Shyam Singha Roy released on 24th December 2021 in theatres and despite stiff competition from Spiderman and Pushpa-The Rise, it collected decent collections at the box office. But mixed reviews from critics caused the film to objectively underperform.

But now, the film has been released on Netflix on 21st January 2022 and is receiving widespread love from movie lovers not only in India but around the world. Netizens have termed the film as an epic romantic tale. Nani and Sai Pallavi’s chemistry is the highlight of the film, according to netizens.

Nagarjuna rubbishes rumours against Samantha

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce has been the talk of the town for the past few months. Despite the couple giving clear statements and requesting privacy, the media has been relentless and publishing many baseless reports.

One such rumour was regarding Nagarjuna’s recent statement on the Samantha- Naga Chaitanya divorce. According to the reports, Nagarjuna said that it was Samantha’s idea to apply for divorce and Naga Chaitanya merely reciprocated the same. The news also mentioned that everything was good during the initial part of the year and Nagarjuna felt that something happened in the mid of the year.

Positive sign for pan India releases RRR and Radhe Shyam

The arrival of Tollywood pan India releases RRR and Radhe Shyam has been quite a tense affair. Both these movies were announced for Sankranti 2022 much to fans’ excitement. However, Covid had other plans and forced RRR to cancel its 7th January release and Radhe Shyam to postpone its 14th January release.

The rising Covid cases and occupancy restrictions across multiple states meant that there was a huge risk in releasing them.

However, now there is a positive sign for pan India releases RRR and Radhe Shyam.

Delhi which had announced theshutdown of theatres last month has now opened with 50% occupancy. Similarly, the TN government is also planning to lift 50% occupancy soon. Along with it, the other states are also going to follow the suit soon.

RRR team which had done country-wide promotions for the film has announced two tentative dates for release. Depending on the situation, the film might either release on 18th March or 28th April. The Radhe Shyam team has not yet announced a release date yet and we can expect the same soon. In fact, due to this delay in an announcement from the Radhe Shyam team, it was rumoured that they might opt for an OTT release.

However, the makers of both these pan India movies RRR and Radhe Shyam have specifically stated not to believe in any rumours. These films will only be going for a theatrical release.,

Pushpa breaks Baahubali 2 record, creates a new milestone

Icon Star Allu Arjun’s Pushpa is continuing its box office victory run in its Hindi version for the sixth week now. In the process of its box-office run, the film even left behind releases like Ranveer Singh’s 83 and has now broken a Baahubali 2 record.

This action entertainer has netted Rs 6 crore in its 6th week. Compared to this Baahubali 2 record was at Rs 5.40 crore nett. The film opened with mixed responses and extraordinary openings at the box office. The Telugu version failed to reach its breakeven mark in Andhra and Overseas regions.

However, it’s the Hindi version that has created multiple records and registered positive footfalls even in the time of Covid.

Baahubali franchise put Telugu cinema on the world map and it was with this film Prabhas achieved a humongous following. The film opened the north market for Tollywood and slowly films started registering great numbers across India as well.

83 Movie OTT streaming date finalized

Ranveer Singh’s recent sports drama 83 hit the screens in December amidst great expectations. The film, however, failed to live up to the hype and tanked at the box office. sub-par storytelling, unnecessary dramatization, and Pushpa (Hindi) storm at the box office were considered as the main factors for the failure of 83.

Now, this sports drama is making its way to the OTT platforms. This Ranveer and Deepika Padukone starrer will release on February 18th. The Hindi version will release on Netflix while other languages will make their digital debut on Hotstar on the same day.

The movie chronicles India’s famous victory in the 1983 World Cup. Ranveer Singh played Kapil Dev’s role while Deepika Padukone played his wife Romi Dev’s role. 83 also starred Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Thair Raj Bhasin, and Saqib Salim in key roles.

Apart from Hindi, the film was released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. While the film was appreciated for its production values and other technical aspects, the lack of a gripping screenplay resulted in the film’s failure.

Trisha’s Telugu OTT debut as cop

Trisha is all set to star in a Telugu web series soon. The actress has just signed an investigative thriller web series Brinda for Sony Liv. The show will be made in Telugu and will be dubbed into other languages as well and Surya Vangala will direct it.

Trisha took to her social media and shared a pic from the shooting for the web series. The show was launched on October 15 with a special pooja. The unit of Brinda also made the announcement on social media. The actress will be playing a cop’s role for the first time. She will be seen donning a uniform for the first time in her career.
