Current Release Dates Of Tollywood Biggies

Recently, there has been a lot of confusion regarding the release date of the Tollywood biggies. There have been constant changes and shuffling of the biggies.

As of now, these are the current release dates of these films.

Radhe Shyam – Radhe Shyam has been in the works for a long time now. Fans of Prabhas have been waiting to see their star in a romantic avatar once again. It was originally scheduled to release on January 14th on the occasion of Sankranthi. It is now set to release on March 4th or March 11th.

Bheemla Nayak – Pawan Kalyan’s re entry into the cop universe, Bheemla Nayak is set to release on April 1st. It was originally set to release on January 12th but got postponed due to a sandwich between RRR and Radhe Shyam.

RRR – Arguably the most ambitious project of the lot, RRR is set to release on April 28th. It is the most anticipated Indian film after Bahubali: The Conclusion, with a lot of hype.

Acharya – The Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer was originally set for a February release, then got pushed to April 1st, but is now releasing somewhere in the 3rd week of May.

It is important to mention that these are the release dates as of now, and are prone to change due to various situations and factors.

Puneeth Rajkumar’s sudden demise shocked not just his fans in Karnatak, but movie lovers across all industries. The reverence and adulation that Puneeth received from the people of Karnataka was a stuff of legends. ‘Appu’s’ elder brother and Kannada star Shivarajkumar has been one of the most deeply affected people due to this sudden demise.

Incidentally, it is the elder brother who dubbed for his younger brother in the latter’s last film ‘James’.

“I tried to dub for a few scenes, but it is emotionally hard for me to watch him while doing so. I am trying to dub for him, but I need to see how it will turn out and whether people will accept it,” said an emotional ‘Shivanna’.

One of the most loved actors, Puneeth Rajkumar was a popular name across the industries and shared a great rapport with all top stars. His death shocked the entire state, with industry colleagues and fans taking a long time to come to terms with the fact.

As a mark of respect towards Puneeth, Karnataka film distributors have decided to not release any movie state-wide from March 17th to March 23rd. All theatres in the state would only screen ‘James’ for the week. The film also stars Shivarajkumar in a cameo.

Renu Desai approached for a key role in a Tollywood biggie

Looks like actress Renu Desai might be making a comeback to the silver screen soon. The ‘Badri’ actress has been reportedly approached to play a key role in the upcoming Ravi Teja starrer Tiger Nageswara Rao. She has been offered Ravi Teja’s sister role in this film. The role would be a critical one to the plot.

Vamsi Krishna is directing the action entertainer Tiger Nageswara Rao and Abhishek Agarwal will be producing it. The film will have a simultaneous release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

The film recently came under some controversy over its rights. Bellamkonda Srinivas also expressed his desire to make a story on the same plot. The young actor even released a first look of the project and this led to some tussle between Vamsee and Srinivas.

Vamsee Krishna had reportedly met the family members of Tiger Nageswara Rao and procured all the permissions and legal rights and NOCs from his family members to make this film. The director had narrated this line to Bellamkonda Srinivas four years ago but to no response back then.

Meanwhile, with the reports of Renu Desai being approached for a role, the film is now attracting even more interest. Renu Desai has stayed off films for a while and has been making more appearances on small screens only. Let’s hope this film breaks her hiatus from films.

Akhanda stands at Number 1 for Second week on Hotstar

Akhanda has been the talk of the town for over 2 months now. It has been breaking multiple records in the theatrical as well as the OTT space. Akhanda has been streaming on Disney+Hotstar since 21st January 2022, and has continued to create new records, and break existing ones as well.

Just last week it created a new record of most impressions within the first hour for any Telugu film across all platforms. It also garnered 1 million views within just one day and was ranked at Number 1 on the platform. The film is now streaming successfully at Number 1 for the second week running. Ram Prasad is the cinematographer of Akhanda.

Akhanda stars Balakrishna, Nitin Mehta, Jagapathi Babu, Srikanth, and Pragya Jaiswal in prominent roles. Boyapati Srinu is the director of the movie, and M Ravinder Reddy has produced the film under the Dwarka Creations Banner. Thaman has scored the terrific background music for the movie.

Disney+Hotstar has recently been acquiring streaming rights for multiple Telugu movies. It is trying to further expand its market in the two Telugu states. It currently ranks at Number 1 in terms of most subscriptions in India, followed by Prime and Netflix.

Keerthy Suresh’s Good Luck Sakhi released on 28th January 2022 and opened to disastrous collections at the box office. The premiere shows opened to extremely negative reviews from both the audiences and critics, which did not help the film.

Good Luck Sakhi is a relatively small film that requires all the push that it can get, but with bad word of mouth, the film is destined to be yet another flop in Keerthy’s career.

The film has failed to even recover the rents in all the centers. Good Luck Sakhi has collected zero shares, becoming a disaster.

NTR30 to officially launch on this date

Jr NTR and Koratala Siva’s NTR30 right from the day of its announcement got the fans on their feet in anticipation. This successful combo is going to repeat its magic soon and the movie will be launched on February 7th. After multiple deliberations and confusions, it was announced last year that Koratala Siva would be directing Tarak for this landmark movie.

For a long period of time, there were multiple speculations over whom would NTR chose for his 30th film. While Trivikram was the frontrunner for this, a creative difference between the two led to the movie being shelved for now. Post-Uppena’s success, even newcomer Bucchi Babu Sana was in the news to be directing the NTR 30.

However, it was Koratala Siva who is presently busy with Acharaya, who got finalized for this project. Jr NTR will be shedding weight for the Koratala Siva film and will be seen in a lean and stylish look for the film. The director has already started pre-production works on the much-awaited NTR30.

The story follows a student who later becomes a CEO and is based on a village backdrop. This film will be bankrolled under Haarika & Hassine Creations along with NTR Arts. The team is planning to release the film in Sankranti 2023.

Shyam Singha Roy First Deleted Scene: This is a gem of a scene that justifies the progressiveness of Shyam Singha Roy. When a prostitute asks Shyam “Will you marry me?”. Shyam replies with a smile and says, “I will definitely marry you, once I love you.” This scene shows that Shyam truly does not care about the woman’s past, similar to his love for Rosie, who was a Devadasi.

Shyam Singha Roy Second Deleted Scene: Vasu revisits Shyam’s Trust Home in Kolkata, and is reminded of the people around that region. He finds a bunch of photos hidden in a book that takes his mind to 1978 Calcutta, where prostitution was on the rise. A desperate mother has to give her child away to spend the day with a man so that she can earn some money to feed the child. A heart-touching scene that would’ve surely left people in tears.

Shyam Singha Roy Third Deleted Scene: Rosie’s friend receives a letter from the SR Trust, in present-day Kolkata. The scene is shot from Vasu’s POV and is staged beautifully. This scene doesn’t add much to the narrative as a whole and was hence deleted.

Shyam Singha Roy Fourth Deleted Scene: Vasu arrives at a producer’s office in Mumbai to sign a 3 film contract. This scene has been deleted because it is simply repetitive.

Overall, it looks like the editor and director decided to cut down on the portions around the prostitutes.

Rowdy Boys released in theatres on the occasion of Sankranthi. Due to negative reviews and a general lack of interest in the movie, the film got off to a very poor start. Rowdy Boys was shot on a grand scale, with a relatively high budget for a debutant hero.

Dil Raju and his brother, Sireesh have produced Rowdy Boys themselves. They have made sure to leave no stone unturned in terms of production values.

In a recent press meet, Dil Raju had to say this about the performance of Rowdy Boys at the box office.

“The film collected 8 crores in gross in its first week and 4 crores in gross in its second week. The film has totally collected 12 crores in gross in 2 weeks and has reached our estimated collections. I am happy with the collections of the film.”

Rowdy Boys stars Ashish, Anupama Parameswaran, Srikanth Iyengar, Karthik, and Sahidev among others. Sree Harsha Konuganti is the director of the film. Devi Sri Prasad is the music director of the film.

Star director Shankar’s son debuting with blockbuster sequel

Star director Shankar has got his hands full at the moment. On one hand, he has projects such as RC 15 and on the other hand, he is aiming to launch his children onto silver screen. Shankar’s daughter Aditi is making her acting debut with the film ‘Viruman’ alongside Karthi. She has also signed her next movie ‘Corona Kumar’ to star opposite actor Simbu.

Following his sister’s path will be Shankar’s son Arjith, who will also be making his debut soon. This debut is going to be as grand as any of Shankar’s films. Reportedly, Arjith’s debut film would be a sequel to 2004 blockbuster ‘Kaadhal‘ (Premisthe). The film back in those days emerged as a massive blockbuster and ran successfully not just in Tamil Nadu, but in Kerala and AP as well.

Balaji Shakthivel, who directed the original will be handling this film as well. Balaji is a long-term associate of the ace director. Incidentally, Shankar himself produced the 2004 blockbuster. The star director is keeping close tabs on all the developments and is personally involved in the project and ensuring that Arjith get’s a grand and successful launch.

Arjith has undergone training in acting and filmmaking. His debut project will be of the romantic genre but with a fresh approach.
