Recently, a new trend has started in the South Indian Film Industry, that is Tamil Directors working with Telugu Heroes and Telugu Directors working with Tamil Heroes. While the Telugu Directors were successful in their attempts, Tamil Directors are failing to catch the Telugu audience’s pulse. We can form a list of many films from Panjaa, Spyder to the recently released film The Warrior.

Many movie lovers thought that this series of failures by Tamil Directors will end with Venkat Prabhu’s debut film in Telugu, Custody. It is very well known to everyone that Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu had joined hands for the Tamil Telugu Bilingual Film Custody, which has been released this Friday. However, with this movie also, the Tamil directors failing in Telugu is not stopped.

If we observe all movies we can see the clear mismatch between the Telugu audiences taste and the taking of Tamil Directors. In Spyder, Mahesh Babu’s lacked the power of a main lead character and the film appeared as it was made to introduce SJ Surya into Telugu rather than Mahesh in Tamil.

Lingusamy who made The Warrior also failed to entertain the Telugu audience as he failed to evoke the right emotions in the hero elevation scenes and action sequences. Coming to the latest release, Custody, Venkat Prabhu has done a better job compared to the other directors, but he also failed to take an interesting concept to the next level.

Director Sudipto Sen’s directorial, The Kerala Story, hit the screens on the last weekend and since then, it is always in the news for many reasons. The film’s storyline raised a massive controversy, with a few states like Tamil Nadu and West Bengal banning it from public screening.

The Kerala Story movie revolves around Shalini Unnikrishnan (Adah Sharma), Nimah (Yogita Bihani), and Siddhi Idnani (Geetanjali), who share their room with Asifa (Sonia Balani) in a nursing college in Kasargod, Kerala. Asifa, who is an aide to ISIS, how indoctrinates and brainwashes the three girls and converts them to Islam and what happens to them is the main crux of the movie.

Naga Chaitanya’s Custody 1st day worldwide collections – Disastrous

Naga Chaitanya’s action thriller Custody was released yesterday to mostly mixed reviews. While the audience appreciated some action elements and the basic premise, the overall treatment of the subject was disappointing and many felt Venkat Prabhu could have handled the thriller elements better.

The film had a disastrous opening day in all territories. In Nizam, Custody has collected a miserable Rs 75 lakh share, and East has done a day 1 business of 11L while Guntur has fetched Rs 20L including hires. Nellore has added Rs 10L to the film and Custody was able to collect around Rs 2Cr share in Telugu states. The worldwide day 1 collection stands in the range of 2.5Cr it is a disastrous start for the film. Theatricals are valued at 21Cr and a breakeven looks extremely difficult.

Custody starred Arvind Swami, Sarath Kumar, Krithi Shetty, Priyamani, Premji, Vennela Kishore, Sampath Raj, and Ramki in key roles. Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja have composed tunes for this bilingual project. VV Vinayak failed miserably with Chatrapathi remake

SS Rajamouli’s Chatrapathi’s Hindi remake was released yesterday to poor reviews and no enthusiasm from the audience. This Bollywood project starred Bellamkonda Sreenivas making his Hindi debut alongside Nushrat Bharucha. VV Vinayak directed the film and made his Bollywood directorial debut with this action entertainer.

The film created great curiosity in the Tollywood circles and the fans were keen to see how the Hindi version would be received. If the reviews and word of mouth are anything to go by, the Hindi audience has rejected this poorly executed film.

VV Vinayak has removed a lot of crucial parts from the original story to ensure short runtime.
