Naga Chaitanya’s action thriller Custody was released last week to mostly mixed reviews. While the audience appreciated some action elements and the basic premise, the overall treatment of the subject was disappointing and many felt that Venkat Prabhu could have handled the thriller elements better.

After a poor performance on the opening day, the film had even disastrous day 2 and day 3 at the box office. The film just collected around the range of 5 Crores share worldwide for the first week, which is a very disappointing number. With its theatricals being valued at 21 Crores it has become a massive disaster, and it is also another single digit share film for Naga Chaitanya in his career after Thank You Movie.

Naga Chaitanya, Venkat Prabhu and team looked so confident about the film’s result during the promotions before release. Sadly, the film performed terribly and became a big failure at the box office.

Custody starred Arvind Swami, Sarath Kumar, Krithi Shetty, Priyamani, Premji, Vennela Kishore, Sampath Raj, and Ramki in key roles. Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja have composed tunes for this bilingual project. Produced by Srinivasa Chitturi under Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner, Custoy is the first-ever collaboration between Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu.

RRR creates another sensational benchmark in Japan

RRR’s release has been an unprecedented success, bringing in never imagined collections. RRR released in Japan in October last year and has broken every single record for an Indian release, both in terms of footfalls and collections. NTR, Ram Charan, and Rajamouli had visited the easternmost country during its premieres for promotions, and it is safe to say that even they would not have expected this level of love for the film.

Now RRR has crossed the ¥2Billion mark (122 Crores) in Japan in 206 days. This is definitely a super sensational achievement and a benchmark for an Indian film. The movie had initially released to lesser-than-expected openings but gradually picked up the pace, beating all others. The Oscar win of Naatu Naatu also helped the movie’s popularity and the collections saw a great surge post the event.

This multistarrer action blockbuster became the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan. The film crossed Muthu’s record that has been standing for more than 2 decades in the easternmost country. As said above, no one expected the Japan’s release of RRR to be this much successful, but the film surpassed everyone’s expectations and created many records at the box office. Collecting a massive figure of ¥2Billion mark (122 Crores) in Japan for 206 days is really a big benchmark for an Indian Film.

After Muthu, Baahubali was also received quite well in Japan, earning both Prabhas and Rana great adulation from the local fans. And now, RRR has also managed to win the hearts of the Japanese.

Naga Chaitanya’s Custody was released last week with the young actor placing high hopes on this Telugu- Tamil bilingual. The film failed to live up to the maker’s expectations and has taken a downward spiral right from day one. Custody received mostly negative reviews and weak word of mouth. While certain action sequences and the film’s core plot were appreciated by many, the dull narration and dragged sequences were the major factors that led to the movie’s downfall.

For a few movies, heroes know the movie will fail before its release only after watching the rushes hence they don’t bother to promote it much. On the other hand, there are other movies where the Heroes are indeed confident of the subject and output and its failure comes as a huge shock. Custody belongs to this category. Naga Chaitanya, who truly believed in the film’s potential and hoped it would bring him back to winning ways is majorly disappointed in Custod’s box office results.

The bilingual directed by Venkat Prabhu failed to get a good opening in both Telugu and Tamil and is now headed towards being the biggest disaster of Naga Chaitanya’s career. The actor was in desperate need of a hit and the Custody result has dampened his spirit.

From the past few days, There have been many rumors about SSMB 28, that hero Mahesh Babu is taking too much of breaks in the shooting, and also he is not happy with the Director Trivikram’s work, but the closest circles in the industry suggested that there were no differences between Trivikram and Mahesh. However, it looks like Mahesh Babu is giving a tough time for Trivikram and his team with his over thinking.

Normally, Mahesh never involved in the script work of his movies and surrenders’s to the directors, but for some reason now he is involving in the SSMB28 script, and he is not even trusting the experience of Trivikram asking continuous changes in the script. Because of this, the film took a lot of time to go on to the sets and even one entire fighting sequence has been scrapped.

After that, when everything was finalized. Trivikram and Mahesh both planned for continuos schedules and planned to release a film on August 11th, but it is said that Mahesh had asked for betterment in the shooting sets after watching the rushes. Because of Mahesh’s constant asking, some part of the shooting which was completed was changed as well, as Mahesh wanted to reshoot some of the footage. Thereafter the shooting of SSMB 28 was almost stopped for 2 Months.

Now the next schedule is expected to start in the mid of June month. Even for the title of the film also, it is said that Mahesh looked unsatisfied with the options which were given by the team and asked for other options.

Overall, Trivikram and team are unhappy with Mahesh Babu’s overthinking, and it is agreeable that any star director will be frustrated, even if it is a star hero or someone involved in script changes as they want the complete freedom in their work.

Before Agent, Surender Reddy and Allu Arjun planned to reunite for a film. This would have been their second project after the hugely successful Racegurram that was released back in 2014. The debacle of Agent has now pushed all these plans away and has also created a huge dent in Surender Reddy’s image.

The Icon star is in no mood to risk his ever-growing pan-India image. He’s at a golden run at the box office with Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo (2020) and Pushpa (2021) both striking gold at the box office. The song of Jai Shri Ram started the positive vibrations for Adipurush and the trailer which was released recently has turned to be the biggest plus point for the movie. However, due to the unresolved financial settlements, the film’s business is going through some price negotiations at the moment.

For Saaho, UV creations had sold the movie on an advance basis, which means that the film was released on own and the distributors had also given massive amounts as advances, but the advances were not recovered as Saaho movie ended up as a failure. The advance amount was not settled after the film’s release, and UV creations promised the distributors that they will settle at the time of Radhe Shyam.

However, Radhe Shyam was also become a big failure at the box office. So now the distributors want to settle all the amounts at a time by giving the Adipurush film a bit lower prices because they want to avoid taking any risk now as UV creations are not part of the Upcoming Prabhas’ films. For Salaar, Project K and Maruthi movie UV creations do not have any connection.

Let’s hope that the film, Adipurush makes it up for the distributors by becoming a massive blockbuster and will settle the unresolved financial settlements.
