Jio Cinema’s Big announcement: one movie premiere every week

Jio Cinema, the raising OTT platform, is making every attempt to get its reach widen. Today, it has made a big announcement that it will premiere a new movie every week. It took it to the official Twitter Account and wrote, “June mein cricket ka khel khatam, par entertainment ka nahi. One movie premiere, every week, New episodes every day, 365 days of reality, All coming to you on #JioCinema for free… ab bas Dekhta Ja India!”

Shahid Kapoor’s Bloody Daddy film will be premiered on Jio Cinema on June 9th. Vishwak Sen and Rakul Preet Singh’s Boo will be premiered on May 27th. The netizens, were surprised after learning one new movie will be premiered on every week on Jio Cinema, that too for free, so they have felt it may affect the cinema theaters. However, some netizens said it is not possible to release every week a new movie throughout the year, so this new tactic of Jio Cinema might only be possible for a few months.

Approximately one month after the announcement of the partnership, content from the US television network HBO is now available at Jio Cinema led by Mukesh Ambani. HBO and Warner Brothers partnered with Reliance to bring their original content to JioCinema after bidding farewell to Disney+ Hotstar on March 31st. JioCinema has also announced an annual subscription plan for Rs 999 for Hollywood content.

Jio Cinema is moving at a rapid pace to get the maximum number of Indian users to watch its daily content. At first, they bagged exclusive digital rights for the biggest sports tournament, the Indian Premier League, and they also acquired the rights of exclusive American content.

HBO originals such as Game of Thrones, and Succession have been a massive success among Indian audiences. With the loss of HBO content, Disney Plus Hotstar reported an estimated loss of approximately 8 million users. The IPL, which was also earlier available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar took a massive hit when Reliance won the bid for about Rs 23,000 crore.

Adavi Ramudu will be released in 4K on 28th May 2023, across 75 locations in the USA. It is known that 28 May 2023 happens to be Sr NTR’s birth anniversary.

Adavi Ramudu has SR NTR in the lead role along with Jaya Prada and Jaya Sudha as the female leads and is directed by the legendary director K. Raghavendra Rao. The film, which was released in 1977, is still regarded as one of the best movies of Telugu Film Industry, and a yardstick to the commercial cinema formula. The film’s music, which was scored by KV. Mahadevan had many evergreen songs and the film also went on to win the Film fare best film award.

Four small Tollywood films are releasing this weekend in theatres

Tollywood is going through a lean phase at the moment with several big-ticket Tollywood films like Shaakuntalam, Agent, Ramabanam, and Ravanasura failing miserably at the box office. Summers are usually a profitable season with several biggies scheduling their release dates to coincide with the holiday season for students. However, none of the recent films have managed to make a mark and now it is up to some small Tollywood films to try their luck.

This week will mark the release of four films- Malli Pelli, Mem Famous, Men Too and 2018 (a Malayalam dubbed film). Malli Pelli directed by MS Raju is a biographical drama of Naresh and Pavithra Lokesh and has created some noise in the industry due to several controversial statements by Naresh during the film’s promotions..

Mem Famous is a youth-centric film that stars a young cast and is directed by Sumanth Prabhas who also starred in the movie’s lead role. The film also features Saarya Laxman, Sri Raasi, and Muralidhar Goud in key roles.

Men Too is a comedy-drama starring Brahmaji, Viva Harsha, and Naresh Agasthya among others, and is directed by Srikanth Reddy. The film’s trailer has created some intrigue amongst the netizens and it needs to be seen how it performs.

2018, is a Telugu dubbed version of a Malayalam film of the same name. The film has already emerged as an industry hit in Kerala. It follows the story of the 2018 Kerala floods and portrays the bravery and human spirit of brave citizen who combated the deadly floods. The film stars Tovino Thomas, Tanvi Ram, and Vineeth Sreenivasan in the lead and is directed by Jude Anthony Joseph.

Official: Allu Arjun’s next film is confirmed after Pushpa2

Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 is one of the most eagerly awaited projects not just in Tollywood but for other industries as well. The movie is in its production stage and there is massive hype for the movie amongst the audience as well as trade circles thanks to its promotional video ‘Where is Pushpa”? that was released last month.

While Pushpa has got the audience’s attention all over, there are also various speculations about what Allu Arjun would work on after Pushpa. It looks like Dhanush’s second film as a director will be an interesting multi-starrer. The film is said to have a huge star cast which includes Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Vishnu Vishal, Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan. Now the name of young actor Sundeep Kishan joins the list, who will be playing a crucial role in this big budget film. The movie is touted to be a gangster drama, and the buzz is that it will be titled ‘Raayan’. This is Dhanush’s 50th film and he will direct it.

According to the inside reports, Dhanush, Sundeep and SJ Suryah will be seen playing brothers (with SJ Suryah as the eldest one) in the film, and the story — set against the North Madras backdrop — will revolve around their family.

What more interesting thing is, Sundeep will also be seen sharing screen space with Dhanush in Captain Miller, which is currently under production. The shoot of this new project is likely to begin only after Dhanush completes Arun Matheswaran’s period action flick. Captain Miller is said to be a period drama set against the backdrops of the 1930-40s. Captain Miller will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The team of the film took one year time to the extensive pre-production work.

Shreyaas Krishna is handling cinematography of the movie, with Nagooran being the in charge of the editing. T Ramalingam is the art director. The directors’ previous film, Saani Kaayidham featured Dhanush’s brother and filmmaker Selvaraghavan in the lead role along with Keerthy Suresh.

But since the latest hot couple in the Telugu Film Industry, Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh are playing the lead roles in their upcoming film Malli Pelli, they are having a good time during the promotional interviews.

At the pre-release event the other day, Naresh and Pavithra were so excited, and they have shared about their love story in the interviews with the media. Naresh told that at first it was not a like love feeling, but he just felt that he will be happy if Pavitra comes into his life. He gave an example like when we see a beautiful person, we think it will be good if she stays with us in our kitchen and bedroom. He also said that if God decides to unite a couple, then everything will fall accordingly. Naresh narrated how he met Pavitra during a film shooting and a radio interview co incidentally, he stated he did not say I Love you to her, and it was just a friendship, but now their relation is in the next level.

Coming to Malli Pelli, the movie seems to be set in the backdrop of Naresh and Pavithra’s real-life relationship. Vanitha Vijaykumar’s role, who was the third wife of Naresh is said to be played by Ramya. But Naresh, Pavitra Lokesh and director MS Raju have denied these speculations.

“It’s not a real-life film. There are only fictional things. This film does not target any single person. I was taken because the role it demanded me, not the other way around. I have done this film because I like my character a lot.” Talking about Naresh. “He is a wonderful man. I am lucky that he came into my life. Naresh garu is a very fun person. I learned by watching him how to deal with anything without worrying too much,” Pavitra said.

Bichagadu 2 is a clean blockbuster – 5 days box-office collections

Vijay Antony’s much anticipated Bichagadu 2, a spiritual sequel to his blockbuster hit Bichagadu was released in theaters recently. The movie was released with a normal hype, though it is a sequel, no one expected it to create any wonders. However, it looks like the Telugu States audiences have lapped this movie as it received superb openings and became a clean blockbuster at the box office.

The movie’s AP/TG rights have been bought for 6 Crores advance amount and the film has collected 6.75 Crores approx share for 5 days and all the involved buyers are in profits now. In the Nizam the film has collected 2.35 Crores share and in Ceded it got around 1 Crore. In Andhra, the film’s share is around 3.4 Crores. The overall Telugu states share of Bichagadu 2 is 6.75 Crores, and if it holds the same momentum in the coming days, the movie has all chances to cross the double-digit share.

Despite the below-par reviews of the film, it has still managed to pull in crowds to the theaters, and it has become a clean blockbuster at the box office now. It is once again proved that the Telugu audiences always encourage movies which they like, irrespective of what is the language of the movie and who is the hero in it.

Vijay Antony has not only acted in this film but is also the writer, director, and music director. It also stars Kavya Thapar in the female lead role, with Dev Gill, John Vijay, and Radha Ravi, Mansoor Ali Khan, Y G Mahendran in the other crucial roles. This film’s cinematography is handled by Vijay Milton and Om Prakash, and it is produced by Fatima Vijay Antony under the banner of Vijay Antony Productions.

Prabhas’s Adipurush is all set to be released on a record number of screens worldwide. We know that the film is set to be released on June 16th and because in Telugu there are no big films and not even medium – budget films releasing on that date. So all the theater owners are interested to screening Adipurush. Which means a record release in all areas is confirmed for the movie. However, the makers shifted its release to January 2023, but it was again postponed because of the backlash came for the VFX and at the time everyone was worried about the film’s output, but in the recent days, Adipurush has got a superb buzz with its promotions working big time.

Story: PC Solanki (Manoj Bajpai), a lawyer, takes up the case of minor girl Nu Singh(Adrija Sinha) who gets raped by Godman, Baba (Surya Mohan Kulshreshtha). What challenges does Solanki face in fighting the case? Will he be able to get her justice? What obstacles did the henchmen of Baba plan against Solanki to get him out of the case? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis: Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai is said to be inspired by a true story based on Godman Asaram Bapu, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor girl. The director never tried to add too much fiction, but he put the important incidents that happened during the case for most of the part. With such a sensitive narrative, the screenplay was treated with great care. There’s a scene where a lawyer asks Nu whether the Godman forced her to touch his private parts. Even if he is defending the Godman, he is ashamed to ask that and the whole court appears silent.

Apoorv Singh Karki was able to bring the intensity in all the scenes in the court, including the climax, which is led by a stunning monologue by Manoj Bajpayee. However, the outside scenes of the court could have been handled better. The case spans 5 years, which was not established visually or even with a note or subtitles.

Performances: Manoj Bajpayee got into the skin of the character and carried the film on his shoulders. Adrija Sinha was natural and brought the required emotional depth for her character. Vipin Sharma and others were appropriate.

Plus Points:

Minus Points:

  • Few portions at Post Interval
  • Some key scenes lacked the intensity

Verdict: Sirf Ek Hi Bandaa Kaafi Hai gets the right impact thanks to the Manoj Bajpayee’s terrific performance and well-balanced courtroom arguments. If only some key links during the time span of the case had been handled with more attention, The movie would have been more powerful. Nevertheless, it’s worth watching for the captivating handling of the main issue.
