Official: Rana Daggubati in an important role in Rajinikanth’s movie

Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie, Thalaivar 170, was announced in March of this year. Since then, the film cast has included other well-known actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil. Recently the makers of Thalaivar 170 started announcing the star cast of the film, and today they have made another interesting announcement.

According to the latest update, Rana Daggubati has also been included in this project directed by TJ Gnanavel. Thalaivar 170 is said to be based on a true story, and Rajinikanth is expected to portray the role of a police officer.

The film is anticipated to hit theaters next year. Rana Daggubati’s inclusion in the Thalaivar 170 cast was officially announced by the production company, Lyca Productions, via their social media account. They expressed their enthusiasm for Rana Daggubati joining the team. Reportedly, this told was first set for Nani but after that, it moved to Sharwanand and finally Rana on boarded officially.

Actress Manju Warrier was also speculated to be in the film for many days, along with her, the film will also have Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan as per the recent official confirmation from the makers.

According to reports, TJ Gnanavel, the director, is actively seeking well-known actors from different film industries to make this project unique. The cast is already comprised of actors like Amitabh Bachchan from Bollywood, Fahadh Faasil from Malayalam cinema, and now Rana Daggubati from Telugu cinema.

As for the movie’s storyline, Thalaivar 170 is said to be inspired by a real-life incident, with Rajinikanth playing the role of a police officer. The film is being produced by Lyca Productions, and the music will be composed by the talented Anirudh Ravichandran.

The film’s announcement coincided with Lyca Productions founder Subaskaran Allirajah’s birthday in March, and fans are eagerly awaiting another Rajinikanth blockbuster. The shooting of the film will start soon.

Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan’s latest action entertainer, has made it a habit to set records and achieve new milestones at the box office on a daily basis. It is widely known that the film has recently become the highest grosser in Indian Cinema, and now it has shattered another record and entered the 550Cr club in Indian Hindi Cinema.

Jawan joined this club with yesterday’s numbers as the film’s Hindi version crossed 550Cr net and stands at 553Cr approx. It is the 1st film to collect more than 500Cr net Hindi version in India. If we put all languages combined, Jawan net will be at 610Cr+ which is a sensational and all-time record for a Bollywood movie. Everyone, including SRK’s fans, trade circles and industry people expected the film to be a good blockbuster, but no one expected Jawan to shatter records and enter the 550Cr club in Indian Hindi Cinema.

Jawan, made as an action entertainer, is written and directed by Atlee. Shah Rukh Khan plays the dual role of Vikram Rathore and his son Azad in this story, which highlights social and political issues along with entertainment. Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi played the major roles in the film. In special cameo roles, Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt are also present.

Long holiday weekend disappoints distributors and exhibitors

The distributors and exhibitors put a lot of hope on this weekend as three notable films Skanda, Peddha Kapu 1, and Chandramukhi 2 were released. The long weekend was a much anticipated one as the buyers bought the movies for very huge prices but eventually, they were left with disappointment.

Skanda was the biggest pre-release business for Ram valued around 50Cr. The action entertainer directed by Boyapati Srinu opened with mixed talk and reviews resulting in a below-par weekend. With just 50% recovery done so far, getting breakeven itself is highly impossible.

Similarly, Chandramukhi 2 also did not work well for the Telugu audience. After a decent opening day, the film dropped significantly and the movie has made just around 40% recovery on the weekend and will end up as a failure as well. Coming to Peddha Kapu 1, it has emerged as the biggest failure of all. Even before the long weekend started, the film started seeing negligible occupancies and minimal audience interest. The distributors and exhibitors’ loses will be 100% as there is no recovery.

Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol are collaborating for the first time for a new film, Lahore 1947. However, they won’t be acting together in the movie. Aamir has made an interesting announcement about his next project as a producer. Raj Kumar Santoshi will be directing the film, Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, which will feature Sunny Deol as the lead.

Aamir took to the Instagram account of his production company to share the news. “I, and the entire team at AKP, are most excited and happy to announce our next, starring Sunny Deol, directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, titled Lahore, 1947. We look forward to collaborating with the immensely talented Sunny, and one of my favourite directors Raj Santoshi. The journey we have embarked on promises to be most enriching. We seek your blessings, A,” he wrote.

Sunny Deol is currently enjoying the success of his latest release, Gadar 2. The film grossed more than 525 crore at the box office, and it became the highest-grossing Hindi film in India of all time, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan. However, just a day later, Shah Rukh’s latest release, Jawan, knocked it off the top spot and became the ATBB.

Sunny and Aamir have never worked together in the past. However, the two have had a few notable box-office battles as competitors in the past. In 1990, Aamir Khan’s Dil and Sunny Deol’s Ghayal were released on the same day, leading to the first clash at the ticket window. Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s Oh My God 2 will be available on Netflix’s streaming platform after a successful run in its theatrical release. The film, directed by Amit Rai, features Yami Gautam as an opposing lawyer against Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi), a Lord Shiva devotee who fights a legal battle against the Indian education system and requests the court to make changes regarding the sex education in schools.

The movie will stream on OTT giant Netflix from 8th October. OMG 2 has created a lot of controversy as the censor team has given many cuts to the film. However, the movie became a blockbuster at the box office despite facing Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 storm.

After the release, the director of the film, Amit Rai said that the uncut version will be released on OTT, which has made the audiences most excited about the OTT release.

The courtroom drama OMG 2 is a sequel to the 2012 hit Oh My God, starring Paresh Rawal, Kumar, and Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles. Skanda performs below expectations over the 5-day holiday weekend

Boyapati Sreenu and Ram Pothineni’s mass action entertainer Skanda was released on last weekend and though it received a mixed response, being a mass film the film had got some decent numbers at the box office, but it failed to capitalize over the 5-day holiday weekend.

Skanda has collected around 22Cr share in Telugu states [including all] for 5 days and the total worldwide share will be in the range of 25Cr. The theatrical rights of the film are valued at 50Cr and it has done just 50% recover in 5 days. Overall, the film has. collected below par numbers at the box office.

As now the holidays are over, practically, there is no possibility for Skanda to recover even 50% of the theatrical rights. The film should hold at least a decent collection for the next few days for a decent recovery, or else it will end up as a heavy loss venture for buyers.

The movie’s music was composed by S Thaman. Srinivasaa Chitturi produced Skanda under the banner of Srinivasaa Silver Screen, making it the most expensive movie for Ram. The movie features Sree Leela as the female lead, and Saiee Manjrekar will play a crucial role. The movie presented by ZEE Studios South and Pavan Kumar features Santosh Detake as the cinematographer. Editing is handled by Tammiraju.

Skanda has had a Pan India release on September 28th in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.
