Before Guntur Kaaram materialized, Trivikram wanted to work on an action film with Mahesh Babu on a grand scale. Both Mahesh and Trivikram were committed to doing this subject only and announced it with a glimpse. But Mahesh changed his mind after a few days and suggested Trivikram to go with a family entertainer as he wanted to do a pan-India film with Rajamouli first.

Due to this, Trivikram prepared and worked on a new script which turned out to be Guntur Kaaram. Due to the limited time and target to release the film by Sankranthi, the film was on set for 4-5 months with rushed shooting which resulted in a below-par film.

It is definitely the mistake of both Trivrikam and Mahesh Babu. Asking for a story change is Mahesh’s mistake and dealing with the family story with a different promotion, title, and screenplay is Trivikram mistake.
